Starting this book today! Excited to read It, It takes place in my hometown of Houston, Texas😄

This book promised several storylines that had the potential to develop into something interesting. Unfortunately, none of them did. For the life of me I cannot figure out what makes the MC, Joan, so damn interesting to everyone- and the author never really explains either. Her friend Cece is obsessed with her, bordering on a “single white female” situation, but without any of the drama or intrigue. Boring.

#TBRtemptation post 2! The 1950s Houston socialite scene is full of garden clubs and balls, with Fortier at the white-hot center. All the men want her, all the women want to be her. While it's a man's world, she craves for more. Which leads to a major crisis for her best (and childhood)friend--or partner-in-crime--Cece. A friendship as obsessive, euphoric, and complicated as any romance. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Finished this month's #bookclub book. It was an easy read, but I didn't particularly like either of the main characters. Oh well.

A quick and easy read. Despite all the frippery and frivolity there is an interesting story in there. I enjoyed it.

And out of the ordinary pic for me, I was engaged from the very first in the story of 1950s Houston. Two friends living very different lives, making very different choices in the world that did not allow women to make choices.

Intriguing for the mystery at the center of the book, but some of the characters' motivations are amorphous and hard to pin down. Still good on a mostly superficial level, and difficult to put down.

Oh, what a bummer. I really enjoyed his last novel, The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls. This was just overwrought with drama that just didn't resolve in a way that was satisfying. I love women friendship stories but this just wasn't complex or layered.

This was not exactly what I expected but I mostly enjoyed it. While I was reading, I found myself wrapped up in Cece's life but when I put the book down the story didn't stay with me like a really good book should. I found I wasn't excited to get back to it and just continued to read because I was mildly curious about what would happen. Overall, I kind of liked it but wouldn't go around recommending it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this one,even when I didn't like either of the main characters at times. The story of best friends,set in the 50s,gives us a fairly good glimpse of how little we often know about the people we're close to,or think we're close to.

I was disappointed with this slow, daunting tale in which I didn't come to like any of the characters, with the possible exception of the little son of Cece. I thought it'd be a winner🙁

I'm a bit behind in my reading (and my work, and other tasks, and life in general) because my parents were visiting for a week and I had so little time to myself ... So today is all about that book all about that book no treble

I was provided a free copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review. I thought the book was very well written, but I couldn't get into the characters and so that affected me greatly. I am excited now to read other books by this author as I did like her writing style.

Now this is fun!!
