I was cooking dinner listening to this on audiobook and caught myself softly smiling. Tragic and beautiful - this is one of those books I‘m so glad I have on audio. Love the narrator Christian Barillas.

Written in 1968, it is sad and scary that not much has changed since Hersey penned these words....
I think the author is familiar with my accounts!
It's how I felt the first time I said those words to him - exhilarated, electrified, a little scared, and knowing there was no going back.
I picked this book up off my pile today randomly - or did I? I haven't even made it past the foreword and I almost cried. Because I'm scared right now in my life.... and I thought this was going to be a distraction.
When you don't mind sitting in traffic and listening to an audiobook.

This cat darted into my apartment Wednesday night when it was absolutely frigid and has since refused to leave. His favorite place is the bookshelf - it is only fitting we name him after my favorite book- the Great Catsby. #catsoflitsy

I blame Liberty and All the Books podcast for my lack of social life and corresponding book addiction!
I did the audiobook and let me just say that Meryl Streep is now the narrator of my life - in my head. She made the story for me, seriously. I don't know that I would have enjoyed it as much (because my own internal narration just wouldn't work for this book)!
I just started this book and I am in love - the whole world is burning down around me...I don't care.
My mom recommended this book because she felt like I had a lot in common with the main character - an overly stressed mom who turns to pills to cope with life. I need to have a talk with my mother apparently!!!!
