pickEnlightening. I study feminism and powerful, strong, revolutionary women on a regular basis, and I had heard of 12 of these 40 profiles. These were well-chosen and well-synopsized. The only thing I thought could have been improved was the art. It wasn‘t that I didn‘t like the style, but I feel like these women have been anonymous enough. Show pictures of the ones where they exist. Show their work.

pickThis was such a fun read! 40 short bios of women from around the world and different points in history. A lot of them I had heard of before but many names were new so it was fun to learn. In the back there is a list of 250 more rad women, organized by country. I love reading about women making a difference!
pickI love this exploration of incredible women from around the world. Some women I knew of, or had even read, but others were new to me. I spent a few hours reading, placing library holds, and looking up videos of people online. What a lovely Sunday.

pickI love this book! A new gift idea for every kid I know. I also love the list at the end of the book that names 250 more women for folks to read and learn about. Highly recommended!
pickIf I had to do reports on some of these women when I was in school, I might have been more interested in my history classes. What a great read! So many women of whom I've never heard of. Schools should use these books when giving kids a list of people to write a report on. One of my favorite quotes from it, from Queen Lili'uokalani: "You must remember never to cease to act because you fear you may fail."
Guess what I'm reading this for (spoiler: cybils). I paged through and laughed because there are some women who have been featured in every single collective biography I've read in the last couple of months.
I'm a youth librarian, and I keep a separate Goodreads account to log/categorize what I read...only once in a while do I log them on my personal GR account. Not sure if I'll keep up with posting my work-related stats, but I thought I'd share for the heck of it. Note: the numbers don't add up because I'll occasionally note crossover appeal. 😃
pickFantastic, all-ages collective biography highlighting the struggles and achievements of women around the world. It was great to revisit the lives with which I already was familiar and fabulous to learn about so many other women's lives. The author includes an additional list at the end of more women we should know...so much work still left to do!

pickSimply put this is a very beautifully put together collection of short biographies of women who have made an impact. It is inspiring, well researched and full of the spirit of what it means to be a women. There are no boundaries but the ones we put on ourselves. The stories of these women who come frol extremely different backgrounds and ways of life are a testament to that!
Baseball practice calls for reading outside! I plan on taking my time and enjoying this one. The tbr this month is out of control. So a few pages in the morning and the evening sounds good!
pickA great look at some amazing women. In most cases they are little known. The writing is solid and the art work is really great. This is the perfect book to show the young girls in your life just how strong, bold, decisive, fearless and passionate women can be. Everyone should grab this book!
Reading about these women heartening and entertaining (a female king?!?!). It's easy to pick up this book and read about one of the women in just a few minutes.
Anyone with an interest in women‘s history (and perhaps anyone with daughters) should pick this book up. I‘d suggest leaving it out on the coffee table or somewhere else that encourages picking it up to read an entry from time to time.

So grabbed lunch and went back to Books Inc to hear Kate read part of the book and watch Miriam do her art. Both are local teachers. Down to earth and quite funny. I ended up with a second copy to surprise my bookish bestie Amanda with and a super cool Guerrilla Girls tote. Feeling better about life.
So this week has been super crappy and stressful between work stress, worrying about family and Sugar Bear suddenly getting food aggressive with her sister after three years. Book therapy today. Picked up these two jewels and sat at the park. Now I'm grabbing lunch before I go back to the bookstore to meet the author of Rad Women. Trying not to think about having to go to work for several hours later tonight 😔
pickThese women are indeed rad! Some of the ladies in the book I knew but most were new to me which I love. There are so many amazing women in this world of ours that everyone should go out & read this book!
