This was a quick read, brutal at times, but it kept my attention. Now my hubby and I are going to watch it on Netflix.

The Revenant is about Huge Glass and how he gets mauled by a bear and his crew leave‘s him behind. The crew are fur trappers trying to survive in the harsh conditions of the 1850‘s. When they leave him for dead he miraculously live through all the pain and agony. I only made it to chapter 4 but the book was great and I really enjoyed it.
There are none so deaf as those that will not hear.
The book is about a fur trapper in the year 1823 who was attacked by a bear and abandoned by his men. He didn‘t give up and crawled hundreds of miles to safety the book is also based on a true story. I liked the book a lot. The symbol of this book is never give up and keep going
The westward expansion, fur-trapper era is interesting and exciting enough, but that ending was definitely unsatisfying.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My husband always says I never read anything he recommends. That‘s not *entirely* true, but anyway, this is for him. 😙 Fur trapper Hugh Glass is grotesquely mauled by a grizzly bear & left for dead by the men tasked with helping him. But - surprise! - he doesn‘t die. This novelization (w/ liberties) of actual events is about survival & revenge. The west was wild, y‘all. Punke‘s writing is rich & solid. I hate when my husband‘s right.
Hugh Glass vowed he will make the two men who abandoned him be sorry..very sorry. 💀 💀

🎬 I thought they did a good job with The Revenant. The movie was actually better than the book.
🎬I go out of my way to NOT but a movie tie-in cover.
🎬 I would love to see an adaptation of The Fifth Season. But I think it should be a TV show rather than a movie ( #HBO are you listening?!).
🎬 If you're reading this you're tagged.

What a busy weekend! #OhioanaBookFestival was awesome! It was great to meet up with some fellow Ohio littens. Thanks for the sweet hat @LeshaMac ! I picked up 3 books at the festival, and The Revenant at the Book Loft afterwords. The Bloody Black Flag is a murder mystery on a pirate ship! The one about the Black Hand is on how the nations organized crime has it's roots in Marion Ohio. The Kahiki Super Club was a legendary Columbus restaurant.
Riveting and hard to put down. Read it for the story and don‘t focus too much on the writing. It‘ll make you want to become a Boy Scout

This prompt made me think of "manly men" so I went with Hugh Glass.
Loosely based on a real person who survives a bear attack, only to be deserted, and continues to thrive solely on his thirst for revenge.
I will admit however, that this is one of the rare times where I think that the movie ? was superior to the book ?. Especially the ending, I found it so unsatisfying in the book.
Facing a long car ride in the near future. Thought this might be a good one to keep both me and hubby entertained. We saw the movie and I thought the cinematography was amazing, hope to be able to “see” the story unfold with this audio. Any other suggestions for audiobooks in the western or outdoors theme, that aren‘t real new......I use my e library 🤓 and don‘t have time for waiting lists!
I posted my review of The Revenant on my blog! I had mixed feelings about it... has anyone else read it? I hate to compare it so much to the movie, but I saw the movie before I knew it was a book and I think this is a case where the movie was better (even though the detail in the book was better).

Just finished my third book of the year! I'm not sure how I feel abou this one just yet... I'll write my review for the #TBRChallenge and post it soon. 🤔🐻
This book, based on a true story, tells one of the most famous frontiersmen - Hugh Glass, who is bent on revenge after being left to die in the #cold. The crew filming the adaptation had to endure -25C temperature while travelling to remote places in Canada and Argentina to film! #tbr 🙄

"He heard her size before he saw it. Not just the crack of the thick underbrush that the sow moved aside like short grass, but the growl itself, a sound deep like thunder or a falling tree, a bass that could emanate only through connection with some great mass."
So I stumbled across a table of English books on sale at the bookstore close to where I work.
Running out of shelf space so I placed some of my books on top of my cabinet. How have I not thought of this before?

Great story, very detailed...but quite difficult to get through. Ironic? Yes. Perhaps this wasn't the best early morning read, nonetheless, this tale will give you the chills!
Loving it 😊 saw the movie first in this case, seeing as I didn't know a book existed, and I can't wait to catch all the book vs. movie discrepancies
Oh how I miss the mountains, and this book isn't helping my homesickness #books #forrealthough #memorialweekend #reading
You guys, this scene in the book is brutal. Worse than the movie - way worse...but gotta say the descriptive writing is phenomenal. Coming from a state that has plenty of bears, I will be doubling up on my bear spray after reading this! #bearattack #gore #gruesome oh and PS - careful when googling 'bear attack' for a usable image 😂#lessonlearned
This book was very good, some of the survival seems a bit convenient, but luck is a factor in survival and reading the historical notes at the end it makes sense. Very interesting read!
Not my usual kind of read but I read it because it's more to my husband's taste and I thought it'd be fun to discuss with him. It's pretty good but I think this is one case where the movie is actually better.
A good short read, this novel is inspired by true events that occurred back in America's early stages of exploration and claiming the west. The history is interesting as well as the main character's ability to survive despite all odds. (For revenge!) Warning: don't get attached to anyone.
"Indeed, to pass up an opportunity for a good joke was viewed as a character flaw, a sign of weakness."
Woohoo! My kind of people!!
Finally started this book! I still haven't seen the movie. I grew up w a rule that I wasn't allowed to see a movie until I read the book.
With such a loooong TBR list and the rate movies are being churned out by Hollywood that isn't always possible. So I pick and choose. Some I absolutely will NOT see until I read it. #books #movies
Haven't seen the film yet, wasn't too impressed with the book. Although i thought it gave an interesting description of the American frontier during the early 1900 century.
I hate that I love to keep buying books that I'm not sure I'll ever have time to read. And yes they are this disorganized. 😊 These are two of several stacks in my bedroom. Let's not talk about the other rooms of the house. #hatetolove #booklove17
I must admit that this great book is helped by its gruff, American narrator. So with that in mind, if you were to ingest this any way first I would whole heartedly recommend the audiobook. I really ought read more like this, as I rarely read historical fiction, because it really has a cold and tough sense of place.
A compelling tale of revenge, survival, and a historical journey in an untraveled and uncharted land. Visit http://www.bookishimpulses.com/single-post/2017/02/05/Review-The-Revenant for the full review.

Where I read: I usually sneak in reading anywhere and anytime I can, but I am for sure reading in bed at least for 30 minutes before I go to sleep.
💕📚💕🤓
I LOVE @bookriot so here's my 1st #RiotGrams pic! Admiring my TBR bookcase that I use instead of a bedside table 💕. Admiring the collection and wondering which will be next after I finish The Revenant.

It's a very interesting story, but they've killed a dog and a puppy😢...I know that back then they were a source of food, but it's still tough to read about it.
Decided to have a peppermint mocha with my book. Decided to give Starbucks some support, since they decided to start boycotting it because SBs vowed to hire 10,000 refugees.
