Anyone who loves animals should read this. This book features the seven-week-long tale of Guard Dog‘s unchaining and adoption, an illustrated history of Guard Dog (written by Patrick McDonnell), real-life rescue stories, and empowering information from voices in the animal welfare community. One of only TWO 5-star reads for me this year. (the other was LES MISERABLES). From a comic book to an epic! 🤣

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book, from its captivating cover to its enchanting Christmas-themed narrative. Each of the main characters was endearing and easily relatable. I appreciated how the unique conflicts faced by each sister were also relatable to one another. The scene descriptions were absolutely beautiful, painting vivid pictures of the setting.

Came across this while browsing at my new hometown library. This was a fun, cozy read especially while settling into a small animal vet job again. I think the author‘s portrayal of a dog‘s thought process was very close to accurate. Absolutely love this collection. More than I expected. Traveling for 6 weeks with my nearly 14 year old border collie. Despite have significantly slowed down he still loves a road trip! I liked that the poems were not saccharine. And the pen and ink drawing throughout are wonderful.

Trailer. Dog. Ball. Fire. And Mary Oliver‘s Dog Songs. My Jackson loves road trips and fires. Doing damn good for being nearly 14! Listening to coyotes not far from camp. At Washoe State Campground near Carson City NV. So quiet and peaceful. Only an hour‘s drive to Lake Tahoe. Highly recommend at least in the shoulder season! And if you are a dog person, highly recommend Dog Songs!

I'm very behind in my Goodreads goal, but I'm still trying. Leah on the off beat was 3 stars. It was a decent story. A cat was involved was 2 stars. Contemplating if I continue that series. I'm now at 14/200

Today was the first read-aloud day of the new school year, and I'm so happy to be back with the kiddos! I'm reading to two classes this year, UTK and kindergarten, and these were the selections for today. The animal noises from the tagged were an especial hit.
