pickAn amusing bit of strange. Part way seems to want to point out how we take for granted treating 'man's best friend' a particular way, in the certain belief that they enjoy it, and part way a standard tale of alien experiencing what we see as familiar, and part way a commentary on the revelations available when we interact with a new being and recognize when we're expecting them to react as others have (especially those who look similar) 1/?

Chet and his private investigator human, Bernie, look for a missing teen girl. I love the relationship between Bernie & Chet and I found Chet‘s inner monologue very entertaining.
This one checked off several boxes for me.

Wishing all of you on Litsy the happiest new year! This year, I‘m hoping to get back into more classics after giving myself a bit of a break over the last couple years. I want to reread all of Jane Austen‘s work to celebrate her 250th birthday, tackle Proust‘s Swann‘s Way, Dickens‘ Hard Times, and a few others that have sat on my TBR too long. Of course, I‘ll also be picking up whatever looks good in the moment for fun too! Happy reading!

pickMy first read of 2025 should come as no surprise: it's the story of Guard Dog, one of the characters in McDonnell's comic strip MUTTS, who finally is freed from his tethered chain of 30 years. I follow this strip religiously, and last year, for 7 weeks, the story of how Guard Dog is freed unfolded. Now in a graphic book with stunning color, I can relieve the heartbreak and ultimate joy again and again. A complete and absolute 5-star read. 🖤🐾🖤
As part of my New Year‘s Resolution to read a quarter of the books I own but haven‘t read, I‘ve created myself this bingo board!
