It is the first time that am I reading an English text that is accompanied with the German translation. I did not buy it myself, but got it out of a little free library. So, I kept wondering why the lines end in weird places and rather abruptly till I realized it is supposed to match the German translation. I never noticed before that we need a lot more words to express the same thing in German. 🧐
So, what dog would Poirot be? 🧐 A collie, a corgi or a dachshund? 🐶🐶🐶
Book haul: I passed by one the bigger little free libraries in my neighbourhood and found this hige stack of Agatha Christie novels. Somebody must have gotten rid of their collection. Of course I had to take them - and put a few of mine in. 😊

pickThis is a collection of short stories of different cases investigated by Poirot and Hastings, narrated by Hastings. I had read 2 of them before and enjoyed all of them well enough, though short stories aren‘t really my favorite thing.
Up next: Number 3 in the Hercule Poirot series by Agatha Christie.
It‘s a collection of 11 short stories and I plan on reading 1 per day.

pickConfession- I had never read any Agatha Christie until last week 😳🙈. I know, I know. Anyway, I picked up two Christie books at the library, one Poirot and one Marple. However, I didn't realize that Poirot Investigates was a short story collection, and I am not a big fan of short stories, so not the best choice for my first foray into Christie's work. The mysteries were clever and while I didnt love it, I enjoyed it. Next up, a Miss Marple novel.

pickThis collection of short stories were perfect for my short discrete reading. Few stories were full of suspense & twist where as few were just OK. I like the story on Kidnapped PM. This is My first reading about Poirot, definitely looking forward to read more.

pickYa know, these little tales weren‘t earth-shattering, but they were fun to read. I love Poirot and Hastings isn‘t nearly as intolerable in short story form. 😂 I especially loved The Adventure of the Italian Nobleman.

pickI‘m making my way through Poirot in order this year. One a month. Book 3 is a collection of short stories. The stories are well-written but they eventually all start to blend together. My favorite was the one set in Egypt, the name of which escapes me at the moment. So I‘m giving it a pick because it‘s still worth reading, just not my fave. 3.5⭐️

Just finished this collection of early Hercule Poirot short stories. Loved it!!
Lunchtime reading. Life is good.
Last day in Banff - and I‘m spending it hopping from coffee shop to restaurant to coffee shop with a couple of books.
I‘m definitely in full hibernation mode this week! 🤣
I have been binge watching the Poirot episodes that correspond to the tagged book, and starting to feel like I‘m ready to dive back into my Agatha Christie project (reading them in chronological order), after a long break!
pickThis one verges on so-so for me as I don't think it is one of Christie's best, and short stories in general aren't really my style. However I have a huge soft spot for Hastings, and do always find Poirot entertaining. It was just hard to get into the groove when the stories were so brief. Plus, there wasn't really a stand-out chapter for me. Enjoyable but not stellar.

pickDoes this happen to anyone else when they use Hoopla? It says run time 5hrs & 45 mins. But then it exceeds over an hour! I kept listening because I thought it was almost done! This isn‘t the first time this has happened to me.
Anyway, some good short stories of Poirot‘s adventures. Definitely like the full length stories better. These are too short and a little unbelievable that Poirot‘s solves them so quickly.

pickMade some snickerdoodles this morning for a friend while finishing tagged book. I had a hard time at first with the audio version because of all the names. This one is short stories, so it can be hard to keep up if your mind wanders. I enjoyed the short stories; there were a few funny times where Hastings yells at Poirot about being conceited. #scarathlon 2pts for mystery

Back from a few-week Litsy hiatus! Had a lot going on but have never stopped reading 📚. I've been bingeing Hercule Poirot, and am on my third book in a row. Really enjoying these short stories, perfect for picking up when you need a quick fix of Poirot.
Reading some Agatha Christie with my coffee. I always like reading Christie when I'm stressed or sick, but I could really do without the casual racism and sexism. I would love suggestions of any more modern authors that are similar. I just don't know where to start with mysteries.
panMy first Poirot short story collection, and a huge disappointment. I liked maybe two out of the eleven stories. They all started out well, but the ending was so rushed and a lot depended on mere coincidence. There was rarely any method behind Poirot's conclusions. I prefer the novels.

so-soThis was fun, but I definitely prefer Christie‘s novels to her short stories, at least based on this collection. All of these wrapped up too quickly for me; I missed the deeper development & slower build of the mystery that‘s possible in a novel. Also: I was a little bothered by the stereotyping: from heavily-mustached Italian blackmailers to “Chinamen” with pigtails who run opium dens. A product of its time, but still—bothersome.
