Ive read the character list and the chorus only, but i already can tell that this is gonna be among my favorite parodies, even books, of Star Wars lore. #currentlyreading
Ive been running through books since I got in the airplane for vacation and it‘s been a fantastic reading time with 8 books read (or reread in three cases) in the past 12 days. In the top left is my #bookhaul for the winter and the two lower pics are the books I‘ve read! ♥️🙌🏻 well, i‘m still working through Thick as Thieves, but I‘m so close!!
I‘ve finished The Queen of Attolia and have started in on Uprooted. ♥️♥️ I‘m only 12% in and I‘m already loving the style of magic happening in this. Particularly the part where slurring or shortening a magical word changes how the magic takes effect! Can‘t wait to continue with it!! #currentlyreading
For all that it‘s an oldy, it is a goody too. Especially since i am chockfull of nostalgia. After starting and finishing Tempests and Slaughter, I‘ve had a hankering for Tamora Pierce‘s books. Here‘s my first all finished! Now to start Wolf-Speaker! 😄
The photo‘s of Wild Magic, but I promise this is about Tempests and Slaughter: there are certainly some discrepancies between the Numair of the new series and The Immortals (the first book Numair appeared in). Mostly in what spells Numair is good at and able to handle and what Arram (his younger self) is good at. Minor problems, but discrepancies I‘m finding nonetheless. 😢
I‘m halfway through my latest read: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo and I‘m loving it. It has a bit of extra heart compared to Six of Crows in a couple of ways that has my heart growing. #friyayintro Crooked Kingdom is my 31st book of the year if I can finish it in the next couple days! Thanks for setting up this tag @howjessreads
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 If you like coming of age stories set in fantastical worlds, check out Tempests and Slaughter. It‘s the story of Arram Draper before he was Numair Salmalin (a beloved character from Pierce‘s previous Tortall books). This first book is set in his early teens and has all I‘ve come to love about Pierce books. Whether you‘ve read her before or are just now discovering Tortall, I could not rec this book more!
Finally getting around to postig my #holidaybookhaul and omf i couldn‘t be happier ♥️♥️ between my aunt‘s giftcard and my mom, I got all of these this Christmas 🎄 #questionoftheday What did u get as a gift, for yourself, from the library, or anyway else this holiday season? What book are you most excited to read next?
Trimming the tree (though ive been doing it solo these past couple years), hanging with my family christmas morning, getting sick on chocolate with the rest of my family ♥️🎄 thanks for the game/prompt @sebrittain #sundayfunday #thoughtechnicallyamonday
so im #currentlyreading the first of #tamorapierce ‘s new series and y‘all!! This is such a fun drop back into Pierce‘s Tortall ♥️♥️ if u love Pierce‘s books where growing up can be gross, hard, and magical, then this one is for you. I think (tho im reading it from a non-newbies eyes) this isnt a bad book to jump into Pierce‘s Tortall universe. ☺️
My #currentreads are all off of the #libbyapp so no real cute pictures. Just a sweet collage of parts of their covers ✌🏻 #questionoftheday How many books do you like to read at a time?
1. Ngl, i love giving and receiving books the most, but tshirts would be the thing if i Really had to choose
2. Going back to the US to see family
3. :D ive already surpassed them twice!
4. Nightmare Before Christmas (maybe Elf)
5. Hell yeah! #friyayintro @howjessreads
Trigger warnings for rape, pedophilia, violence, and rampant sexism. I would have bailed but I‘m planning on sticking with all of our book club‘s books. 😩 i just didnt like this book and it was for a lot of reasons. Wish I could get the five hours I spent in it back.
♥️♥️♥️ NK Jemisin has already won my heart before I‘ve read a word of her fiction because she‘s done what no author i‘ve read recently has done: Put a disclaimer about how she‘s attempted to take a bit from history, but has changed it up as much as possible. #thankyou for saying that kinda thing up front about ur book‘s languages and names!!
The Thief was a fast-paced and fun book. I knew a little bit about the story going into it (or so i thought) and it was filled with hints and puzzle pieces the whole way through. Def give it a read if putting the pieces together is fun for you! #questionoftheday What was the last book that really surprised you into loving it?
I read this book with a lady near me every two weeks or so so she can practice her English writing skills. After a lot of trial and error, this was the first book she admitted to understanding a lot of what was being said without much trouble. So #thanks John Steinbeck for writing the way you did. Also, the lady and her family are way too kind to me. ♥️ She gave me jellies and her husband gave me cups for xmas presents for my parents.
This #currentlyreading pile might look nice and tidy but that kindle and the phone this pic was taken on contain Way more than my backpack could carry. #ereaders are saving my butt this travelling season. #questionoftheday How many books do u travel with?
1. daredevil! :D it was on netflix but has since been cancelled 😩
2.i‘m flying home to my family on xmas eve and then just spending loads of time with them ♥️
3. Fantasy! 😊 can‘t wait to see the recs
4.Sleeping but about to wake up
5. The Iliad translated by Caroline Alexander! #humpdaypost @MinDea
This book is interesting for sure (loads of sex, violence, and creepiness (à la Lolita) heads up), but it‘s not one I‘m loving. It could be that the fictional world seems boring (ripped straight from Japanese history) or that the storytelling is not very emotional (the great man did the thing and said some words and people cried - it‘s dry, i guess?) or something else. Ive got 15% left so we‘ll see how it wraps up. #currentlyreading
A friend online has been reblogging art and fanfic for this series since before we‘ve been following each other. I‘m finally gonna bust into it! 😚 #qotd Do you prefer fantasy books or historical fiction? Both for different reasons? #currentlyreading #freezeframe #howdoieventagstuff
Thieves, brawlers, bombs, and magic! It‘s all here in this wonderful heist story. I had put off this book for ages (now i cant recall why!), but having finished it I can say absolutely that I loved it. ♥️♥️ #qotd What‘s a book that you‘ve been putting off reading or a book that u had put off and have since read? Why r u putting it off?
The tagged book was my least favorite mostly because of the author‘s point of view and style. It was a bit of a self novelization and ive never really read one before. They way the author discussed certain topics just made me roll my eyes p hard.

Ragnarok Unwound by Kristin Jacques ⚡️⚡️⚡️/5
I‘ve finished Ragnarok Unwound and I gotta say that it was a fun, fast read. There were a couple aspects of the boom I loved: fighting fate, myths mixing with each other, and women saving the world. There was one aspect that was meh for me: the heteronormativity of the language used in the book. If u like myths and modernity mixing, I‘d recommend this if you wanted a quick, light read.
#currentlyreading Ragnarok Unwound by Kristin Jacques and I‘m already 68% through. It‘s def a fun book that brings myths into the modern world and the Fate Cipher?? ♥️🙏 A fantastic creation! Love how the role is playing out in the story. There are a few parts I‘m a bit less thrilled about, but I‘ll discuss those more in my review for this #arc from #netgalley and #skyforestpress.
#in2018 I began to read more than I have in years. :) it‘s been pretty awesome getting back into books and it‘s always fun to see the results with these kind of ‘end of year‘ lists. 😃 Thanks for making this game @RealLifeReading Question: How has this year of reading changed for you?
Just picked up ‘Ragnarok Unwound‘ by Kristin Jacques via #netgalley and 10% in it‘s another fun modern myth story. 😄 #currentlyreading like 8 books now, but not regretting a single one!
I‘ve been to either 7 or 9 countries (greece, russia, the us, mexico, brazil, china, the uk, and a couple others of the fantastical variety ;) )thru books this year :D i‘m interested in #2 #litworld2018gb @GatheringBooks
I love the changing POVs, the different focuses for each of the characters, and while I‘m a bit concerned with Kaz‘s seemingly disappearing ‘bad leg‘ in the face of danger (is it just psychosomatic and not a physical issue for him??), Six of Crows is a lot of fun to read. I‘m glad I‘ve finally cracked it open! #ninainthismomentisveryrelateable
This was such a sensuous and fantastic book. As someone who enjoyed the movie, I was a bit biased going in. I think, though, that even if you haven't seen the movie, you'd still enjoy the book. It's a fairytale with long descriptions (this is one of the few critiques I have of it, the descriptions were very long and I feel like that could def turn some folks off) and if you like that sort of story, I can't recommend The Shape of Water enough.
:D i‘m finally going to be able to start reading ‘A Conspiracy of Truths‘ by Alexandra Rowland .... in two weeks. (Un)Fortunately, my package arrived while I was away from home and will be waiting for me until then. ♥️
The wonderful thing about ‘The Shape of Water‘ is that it provides even more insight into the characters. While the movie leaves plenty to interpretation and in the unspoken things said between the characters, the book is chockful of these little internal revelations that give the characters their shine. All this to say I‘m love the book. ♥️
“Prejudice and private interest will be antagonists too powerful for public spirit and public good.” P. 123
I‘m finally working through Alexander Hamilton and it‘s a fun read. A big mix between narration and first person accounts, Chernow manages to tug the heartstrings in this book about one of the founders of the U.S. it doesn‘t hurt that Hamilton himself seems like a depressed, dramatic person #relatable
