My ninth Miss Marple mystery of the year. A fun, quick read. Jane and cranky Mr. Rafiel made an entertaining pair. I love how resourceful Miss Marple becomes in these later mysteries. Her physical capabilities are becoming more limited with old age, but that doesn‘t stop her from being a detective extraordinaire!

I love these Art Deco style AG cover designs
I jumped ship on Page 4‼
Pejorative reference to a gay man. 🤦🏻♀️
I know some will say it's how things were in Agatha Christie's day. Just ignore it. But no I'm not wasting my time when I've so many other things I want to read. 👎 #summertimestack
#LMPBC Round 10 - #GroupM

@suvata has mailed a book to @Bookwormjillk
This was a really fun round. Thanks to everyone who participated. #GoAgatha
• Read in February 2021 for Litsy Markup Postal Book Club #LMPBC Round 10 - #GroupM (Agatha Christie)
Murders aplenty at the Golden Palm resort on the Caribbean island of St Honoré. It‘s a good thing Miss Marple happens to be there on vacation!
I finished this but I am not going to send it to the next person in the group until the end of the month. Just so there‘s no confusion. A very enjoyable book.
Reading next month‘s #LMPBC book while my husband binges Cobra Kai #BooklyWinterReadathon2021 #Bookly
During the pandemic, what has been your go-to genre of books? To escape and unwind?
I used to read a lot of historical fiction but find that, now, I am reading mainly cozy mysteries. ☕️
I‘m in Agatha Christie heaven. I received the last book for #LMPBC Round 10 - #GroupM plus several other books from @LiteraryinLititz today. Thank you so much. That was quite a pleasant surprise.🙂
This was great fun! I loved rereading this one alongside the rest of my #lmpbc! I‘m really grateful that I don‘t remember details that well so I can truly go into these Agathas again without any head start. 😋
@suvata Tomorrow I‘ll be mailing out your January book, this one (your February book) and some extra books that @MaleficentBookDragon included in the mailer that I already own! And @Bookwormjillk just keeping you in the loop on your book!
Another tidy little mystery from Dame Agatha. I faltered a bit in the middle, but in the end I read more than half of the #authoramonth selections.
I bought this at a cute little bookstore on a gloomy but glorious day in Edinburgh that now seems like part of another life.
Yay! I guessed another killer. I really enjoyed this #LMPBC pick.
“The truth must be quite plain, if one could just clear away the litter“
Simple and subtle, sophisticated yet, just what we can expect from Agatha !

Miss Marple has really grown on me as a sleuth. I love how she uses people's ageist and sexist assumptions about elderly ladies to her advantage. I thought the twists and turns in this case were great. They kept me guessing! Content warning though about a few racist remarks that come out of characters' mouths but are implicitly supported by the text.
The air outside hurt my face when I went for a walk today, so I‘m happy to be inside now reading about Miss Marple‘s trip to the Caribbean 🌴🌴🌴
I usually love Agatha Christie, but felt meh with this one. A big “moral” of the story is that it‘s hard to track down truth among rumors, and there‘s always key information in stories we ignore. Ms. Marple wasn‘t paying attention to a story being told, but she realizes later (once the narrator is killed) it was important. She puzzles a lot, but the thing is, the reader has the actual story in the text. This weakens the mystery, in my opinion.
I read this one between May 10 & 18 and rated it 4 ⭐️. It was the May read for the Agatha Christie 2020 readathon. Well one of the alternate selections. I had read the main pick last year and I would like to read more of Christie‘s books before I reread any. I thoroughly enjoyed this Miss Marple mystery. The cover is a bit misleading as it does not take place on a cruise ship but I do like the cover.

📚 A Caribbean Mystery
🖋 Agatha Christie

There's nothing like an Agatha Christie mystery. No one writes them like she did. We find Ms. Marple in the Caribbean being bored. Of course that changes when there's a murder.
#ReadingMM another title ticked off! Was esp eager to read this story set outside the usual rural England.
Plot was little more knotty but no less entertaining!
While returning this, picked up few books for couple of current challenges and also to revisit the late author's writing. #libraryhaul
Murder follows Miss Marple on holiday. #myyearwithagatha
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my cozy mystery option for Read Harder and it probably isn‘t the best Miss Marple mystery. I wanted to read one where Marple was on vacation and while it was nice for the setting to be the West Indies, the mystery was a little lacklustre and implausible.

Miss Marple is on an exotic holiday, basking in the Caribbean sunshine where ‘Tropical the island breeze,
all of nature wild and free..🎶‘ but soon finds herself entangled in a murder mystery. 👵🏻🔎

A stamp inside the tagged book is a favorite #bookish item from Typewronger Books. There was also a tiny origami frog that I gave to my sister. #gratefulreads
A lovely book. The first of a long series...

It took me almost 3/4 of the book to realize I had read it before. Not my favourite Marple. The colonialist tone was too much for me now. The sexism tone. The plot is well done but this one, written in 1964, was problematic for me. The prism of what people say they are and how they are believe without thought is well done is still relevant now. A more active Miss Marple than usual as it is a closed space, island.
Friday night reading while watching US Open. #relaxingreading
Next book. To finish off the summer bingo card of my library. I've been reading in order, as one does, the Marple novels for a few years now. I'm up to this one and it checks the last square I need.
Finished this book in the evening sun in the scent from the oregano. #missmarple #holidayreading #vacationbook #summer #agathachristie
I have a soft spot for Agatha Christie-novels. My father‘s cousin left me her collection of all of Ms Christie‘s novels. They are old and not political correct at all, but they are the epitome of holiday reading to me 😀☀️😎📚#agathachristie #missmarple #holidayreading #summer
I‘m afraid this is the only book I‘ve read set in the Caribbean, but Dame Agatha Christie IS the Queen of Crime to this day.
#WanderingJune #caribbeanqueen
#wanderingjune @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB In this Miss Marple mystery, she‘s trying to have a nice #dreadlockholiday when murder encroaches on her downtime! Also, not related to the book at all, but I had to add in a reminder of Monica‘s Barbados hair from Friends - hilarious!
Typewronger Books is not in the database, but it‘s delightful. I couldn‘t leave empty handed!
Miss Marple plays up the old lady charms and I‘m confident will find the murderer. I think this will help prepare me for a murder mystery escape room I‘m doing soon. After I mentioned that, a friend suggested I dress up in an old lady wig, sit in a chair the whole time, and give everyone else directions. 👀👣👂🏻🕵🏻♀️
#Booked2019 - a female detective
Although some of the references in this book, though typical of the time it was written, are offensive, Miss Marple is as amazing as ever. I love how everyone underestimates her until the end when she puts it all together and solves the murder.
Starting this one today. It will be a “female detective” book for #Booked2019 and a “book published before you were born” for #mmdchallenge. #DoubleDip
House/pet sitting for a friend and I'm powering through my TBR pile. I enjoy a little bit of Christie as a palate cleanser between my urban fantasy. Surprised by how racist the characters are, but I'm sure it's a sign of the times. Thankfully things have changed. The killer was so predictable I expected a curve-ball and that it was someone else, simply because it was 'too simplistic'. Not one of the better Marples, still good
A Caribbean Mystery: in which Miss Marple takes a Caribbean holiday and, naturally, finds herself in the perfect position to investigate a series of murders at her holiday hotel. 🌴🌞🔪 I just loved stealthy and clever Miss Marple in this one. Some good twists and turns, a few awkward sections about the islanders, quite a few red herrings, and a satisfying conclusion. Shall we call it... three and a half palm trees out of five? 😆
🌴🌴🌴🏝
Started a new Miss Marple this morning—because I might have been in the middle of four books, but none of them was an audiobook. 😆
Designing covers which shows the point of a mystery without giving it away, is difficult. I don‘t think this one succeeds.
My first Miss Marple mystery. It was pretty good! A series of murders at a hotel. A lot of people to keep straight in this one. Still I got there and couldn‘t guess the murderer as usual lol! I enjoyed the story and can‘t wait for my next!
