I liked this. Some elements of the plot were a little far-fetched, but I was in a mood to roll with them. This was a fast read. I personally did not fear elevators while reading this, or at least no more than usual, but I don‘t hold that against the book blurb 😂
I wasn‘t quite as interested in the political aspects of the book with the mayor, though it was important to the book. I was more interested in Barbara‘s and her daughter‘s lives. The POV did switch around with each chapter. It really ramped up in the last 20% of the book. It was very suspenseful at that point and I didn‘t want to put the book down until I finished! Although it turned out really good, it is not one of my favourites by Barclay
Started out sort of slow, but the suspense and tension grew until I couldn‘t get thru the second half fast enough. There are several different things going on in here, so you need to be patient and take it all in. As @SilversReviews told me, the end is well worth the time it takes to get there. Great fun, this one!
Halfway thru with this one. My first by Linwood Barclay. Started out pretty slow, and where I am now (halfway) it‘s starting to pick up a little bit. #currentlyreading
I enjoyed this fine, although it felt like it wandered a bit. There were quite a few subplots (some obvious red herrings) and it did feel a little contrived at times as he tried to resolve all the loose ends. This was my 2nd by this author, and I would probably say I enjoyed the other one (A Noise Downstairs) more.
I loved the visceral experience of this terrifying tale. While I‘ve seen others comment that the pacing was slow, I found Elevator Pitch to be captivatingly thrilling from beginning to end with masterfully built terror inducing scenes.

In the words of Villanelle - “This is so BOOORRRINNG!“. DNF
ThriftBooks responded already. I didn‘t specify which book in my message so hopefully they‘ll see that I only received one book from my order so far and will send the correct one. I may read both to see what differences there are between the ARC and published copy. I‘ve never gotten an ARC before so I‘m curious.
I just got part of my order from ThriftBooks. It‘s an ARC someone won from Goodreads. They left the slip of paper in it, too. I‘m not sure how I feel about receiving an uncorrected proof. I don‘t remember it saying that when I ordered it.
This book was a little slower and different than my recent picks but definitely kept me guessing toward the end. Many cliche turns throughout the book. #April.1.12
This book was so exciting. Wow is all I can say.
I highly recommend it if f you are looking for a real thriller.
It grabs you and won't let go. The ending I did not see coming.
Saw a little buddy on my walk today. It started to rain so I had to cut it short but nice to be out of the house. This book on audio is a blast. And maybe a little bit too realistic. 🙃🙃
1. No confirmed cases in Local authority my school based in, but 2 cases in county where I live. Having very big impact at school where having to tell parents to self isolate children for 7 days for new continuous cough. Always loads of coughs. Planning for when / if school closures happen. Leadership team meeting 8.15 each day.
2.At the moment, not first thing on my mind!
3. No.
4. Tagged book.
5. Rewatch of Lord of the Rings
Action packed! Really enjoyed this mystery- it was a a page turner. I did find the gore a bit overdone.
The writing was bad, but I still wanted to know what was going to happen, so there was definitely something I liked to keep me going. Maybe I just didn‘t like the voice acting? I don‘t know. I don‘t recommend this one unless like me, none of your audiobook holds are available.
The writing in this is terrible but I still listened to half of this today at work.
Entertaining all action thriller, was as expected and not too much brain power needed as work is full on daft at the moment!
Who needs an excuse?!
First book of 2020! Happy new year to everyone on Litsy!
I loved this book. All the suspense that I‘ve come to know and love with Linwood Barclay. I just could not put this book down it kept me guessing and was a hell of a ride.
My reading view, my reading companion, and my reading material (which is a fast paced, entertaining crime read). Welcome to December 1st in the Southern US. Christmas decorations are up yet all the windows are open for breezy sunshine. What is your reading weather like today? (Don‘t get jealous...it‘ll be 25 degrees colder tomorrow. Because...the South 🙄)

Thank you @Hooked_on_books ! You brightened my Monday considerably 💕 I‘m excited for this new-to-me author. I‘ll post my thoughts when I finish. Thank you again for your kindness. #bookmail #lovelylittens
This was my first read from Linwood Barclay and I must admit I now want to read all of his other novels! This book had me so engrossed! I never saw the end coming! I also never want to ride in an elevator again!
Finished this last night. I always enjoy Linwood Barclay‘s books. They‘re a gripping, fast read. This one was no exception. I read the whole thing, even though it was over 500 pages, in two days. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Someone is sabotaging NYC elevators, causing death and fear across the city. This is an awesome thriller that doesn‘t shy away from some humor as well (a mayor named Richard Headley). I tore right through this one. This is my third or fourth by Barclay and I‘ve enjoyed them all.
The first chapter was interesting but then the book got slow and boring. Made it 61 pages in before bailing. Just not for me.
My library book haul. I went in for one book and left with five. 😂🙈
*Books are
- Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay
- Sophia Princess Among Beasts by James Patterson
- Splinter in the Blood by Ashley Dyer
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
- Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
This book was brilliant! It‘s the 1st Barclay I‘ve read but you can bet I‘ll be tracking down more. This is one of those rare books that kept me from guessing the right culprit till the last few chapters, something that doesn‘t happen very often. And I‘ll be thinking twice about getting on the next elevator. #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter It‘s Friday here so 10points for the book & 1point for the post #PointsTotal-702
This book is terrifying!I‘m halfway through & I‘m never getting on a high rise elevator again😱Just finished dinner & am enjoying a cup of tea in the mug @LapReader sent me in a swap. It‘s the perfect size & shape to hold, thank you! Looking forward to the points increase from tomorrow, should put me in 4 digits real quick.Just reserved another dozen books from the library for the last week of the #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-690
Next up in my #Scareathlon playlist is Linwood Barclays latest novel. Once I saw it was blurbed by Stephen King & Michael Robotham, how could I refuse?🤷🏻♀️When 4 people are killed in an out of control high rise elevator, everyone assumes it‘s bad maintenance, until it happens again. And again. Soon Manhattan has descended into chaos with even 911 calls left unanswered in the city‘s tall buildings. #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-687
2nd last in my #libraryhaul is the new thriller. Four people are on an elevator where ignoring the buttons they push, it goes to the top floor then plummets out of control, killing them. It appears to a random tragedy, until it happens again. And again. It brings Manhattan to its knees, people are terrorized, too scared to work or even live, even 911 calls go unanswered. It sounds terrifying! #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-416

Sooo I picked the first #screamathon book I‘ll be reading thanks to @TheSpineView ‘s generosity! What have others picked to read?!?! 🖤🧡💛🖤🧡💛 🏢
I couldn‘t take it and I stayed up last night to finish this! His thrillers are so good!
Despite the past two weeks of mostly non-reading, my overall stats aren‘t too bad for September, thanks in large part to listening to audiobooks at work. I had five books I really wanted to read this month, but I didn‘t even get two of them started, so I‘m pretty bummed about that. I changed my work schedule to avoid traffic, but I lost at least 30 minutes of daily reading time. I‘m thinking of changing back as I‘m too tired at night to read. 😭
More Book Mail today. 😍😍😍
Thank you, Harper Collins.
If you already have a fear of elevators, you may want to skip this book. 😍

Not my favourite Barclay book but it was a decent read. Was convinced the culprit was someone else until near the end but it wasn't a massive shock. Was probably expecting too much after such a long wait for this.
Love his style of writing though so still a pick 🙂
I can‘t really say much yet, since I have only read a little bit of it so far, but I love Barclay‘s work and this looks like a particularly good one. More later....,........finished reading the book. I liked it, as I do all of Barclays books. Liked the feeling for life in New York and the characters. Captured my feelings about skyscrapers, and about heights in general. I have visited most of the skyscrapers during my 18 years of living in New York
HAPPY PUB DAY!!!!
Malfunctioning, crashing-to-the-ground elevators.
And...just when you thought it was all over, it wasn't. The ending is edge-of-your-seat.
