pickPam Houston writes about the wilderness and her need for river, snow, and mountainous adventures. Some say this is a collection of essays. Maybe. I think of it more as a memoir of a life lived in the great outdoors. Her writing is beautiful and honest. In some ways in reminds me of Ann Patchett‘s This is the Story of a Happy Marriage.

I have a chronic illness that kind of rules my life. I spend a lot of time at home because there are many days when I'm too sick to leave the house. I've always loved reading, but in 2015 I started really dedicating myself to it and it has helped so much with my illness-related depression. Now I have something immensely fulfilling that I can do from the comfort of my home. Reading has given me a way to live meaningfully. ❤️
