Guilty | David Baldacci
Will Robie is the government's most professional, disciplined, and lethal assassin. He infiltrates the most hostile countries in the world, defeats our enemies' advanced security measures, and eliminates threats before they ever reach our shores. But now, his skills have left him. Sent overseas on a critical assignment, he fails, unable to pull the trigger. Absent his talents, Robie is a man without a mission, and without a purpose. To recover what he has lost, Robie must confront what he has tried to forget for over twenty years: his own past.THE GUILTYWill Robie escaped his small Gulf Coast hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi, after high school, severing all personal ties, and never looked back. Not once. Not until the unimaginable occurs. His father, Dan Robie, has been arrested and charged with murder.Father and son haven't spoken or seen each other since the day Robie left town. In that time, Dan Robie--a local attorney and pillar of the community--has been elected town judge. Despite this, most of Cantrell is aligned against Dan. His guilt is assumed. To make matters worse, Dan has refused to do anything to defend himself. When Robie tries to help, his father responds only with anger and defiance. Could Dan really be guilty? With the equally formidable Jessica Reel at his side, Robie ignores his father's wishes and begins his own desperate investigation into the case. But Robie is now a stranger to his hometown, an outsider, a man who has forsaken his past and his family. His attempts to save his father are met with distrust and skepticism . . . and violence.Unlike the missions Robie undertook in the service of his country, where his target was clearly defined, digging into his father's case only reveals more questions. Robie is drawn into the hidden underside of Cantrell, where he must face the unexpected and possibly deadly consequences of the long-ago choices made by father and son. And this time, there may be no escape for either of them.

Action packed. Will Robie heads back to Cantrell, Mississippi to investigate his father‘s murder charges. Robie immediately steps into muck with his life threatened. Quite a few twists, but I did pick out the murderer and for the right reasons so enough clues must have been there.

Another fantastic book in the Will Robie series, this is fast becoming one of my favs!
Fast paced and very enjoyable. I just love the relationship between Robie and Reel. Did not predict that ending either!

This is the 4th book in the Will Robbie series where Baldacci takes us back 20 years and we get a glimpse of Will‘s past and a strained relationship with his father. This is a great series about Will and his partner Jessica Reel who are trained assassins. In this book and the last which is about Jessica‘s past we get to see how human they are even though they are assassins. It‘s a great series and if you haven‘t started it yet, now is the time!

Andrew65 @EadieB It was unfortunately only one left in the series now. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I will miss this series but we have more of his books to read! I do like his writing - not too wordy and the short chapters are great! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes he keeps up plenty of pace and action in his books, I also like the interactions of the key characters like Amos Decker and Alex Jamison in the Amos Decker series. 6y
EadieB @Andrew That‘s a great series too! 6y

This is very different to the other books in the Will Robie Series, but it still is another great book in the series. After 20+ years away from home, following a crisis of confidence, Will goes home where his estranged father is charged with murder. It was great in this one to find out more about Will‘s past story, and to see him trying to play detective! Quite a complex story, with adult themes. A 5 Star Read and strongly recommend the series..

tournevis Technically, there is April 23rd, Cervantes and Shakespeare's death day, that is celebrated in continental Europe and in Québec, a few places in South America too, as give a book and a rose day. There is no reason for not adopting this elsewhere in Canada and in the US. I do it. 7y

I enjoy a good old fashioned thriller/mystery and this novel certainly qualifies. Set in small town Mississippi, the main character, Will Robie is determined to find out if his estranged father is guilty of a murder. Good atmosphere, fast paced, a solid addition to the series 😀

#spynovels #photoadaynov16. I like spy novels and have read oodles. Lately I've been reading David Baldacci books. This is my latest book in his Will Robie series just waiting for the right time to read it. Also like his the Camel Club Series and the King and Maxwell Series 🐉

Cinfhen I like Baldacci too, not as much as Silva but more than Meltzer😂Did you get all that???😜 8y
Dragon Thanks @Cinfhen I like Silva too although I've just discovered him so I've only read about 3 of his books. I've not read any Meltzer so will watch for them at the booksale this weekend. 😀 8y
Cinfhen @Dragon excellent! It's been awhile since I've read Brad Meltzer, but I remember enjoying his books. Has there been a follow up to 8y
Dragon @Cinfhen looks like this is the follow up. I liked Memory Man so I'll be looking for this one too 😀 8y
