One of the books in one of my last book hauls, the second hasn‘t arrived yet still. 😭 will hopefully read this soon, loved the first season of the tv show.

When this TV show came out I bought the book so that I could read it before watching, and it has been sitting unread on my shelf ever since. I'm not sure if things got lost in translation (or maybe it's just one of those rare cases where the adaptation is an improvement?) but I didn't enjoy this at all. So tedious. A bummer considering the really promising/intriguing premise.
The main premise of the book is very good- a mom randomly murders a guy on the beach. It then begins the unroll which is extremely tough to read as it involves mental abuse, murder, and rape. It keeps getting told too making the book a chore to read as I didn‘t want to be in the world created anymore. It is a too heavy a read.
Watching this show on Netflix and didn‘t realize it was based on a book...guess what‘s now on my TBR!!
That was dark! The last few nights I had to fall asleep watching Bob's Burgers because I was so unsettled. I got very impatient once I had about 50 pages left. I just wanted it to end but in a good way. I needed to know why and couldn't put it down.
#currentlyreading When there is a tv show or movie I want to see, I read the book instead. I'm terrible at watching tv. Started this morning and kind of wishing I had kept up with my German lessons so I could read it untranslated.
This book was SO SAD. All of the weird things that happened to her growing up... no wonder she stabbed that dude without a moment of hesitation. I really liked the way the book played out-you knew there was a reason she did it, but it took a while to fully understand why.
This book is creeping me out so far. Cora is something else. I purchased it after discovering it on Netflix. I haven‘t watched the series yet though. Perfect Halloween-ish book I guess 😏 🎃👻
I almost forgot about this book. I watched the first three episodes of #TheSinner last year and stopped with the intention of reading this book. Time passed and I completely forgot. Tonight I rewatched the first three episodes and now I remember why I wanted read this book. Has anyone read it or watched the show?

I watched the first two episodes of the series based on this book at the beginning of the year and got hooked. The episodes were not moving fast enough for me so I just had to go purchase the book lol. I NEED to know the answers to the questions I have! 🤓
It was a very compelling plot idea but the execution fell short for me.
This novel felt like one long run-on sentence in a good way. I couldn‘t stop reading. Some of the translations were awkward and the novel definitely could have been half the length, but it was all about the journey through Cora‘s mind, not just the end reveal. I wouldn‘t recommend reading this novel if you‘ve already seen the miniseries and it definitely isn‘t a novel fit to everyone‘s style. Read this if you enjoy character studies.
Food and a book 👌🏻
#currentlyreading and I am sucked right in! A bit more than halfway done and I only picked it up a couple hours ago 😳
Meh. This was just okay for me. Was hoping for more, though the ending was pretty good. Dark and pretty disturbing in some spots.
This was okay. I found it a little bit hard to follow, but I think that can be the translation. I liked how it came together. And the characters were very well developed and versions interesting. I‘m interested to watch the tv show now.
Such a Damm depressing book, closer to the end and there is no way anything good comes in it 😕 good writing but Damm. I️ will need to read a “sorbet” book after it
The benefits of being in the passenger seat when roadtripping. 6.5/7ish hrs later & we are almost there. Just because I am helping my sister move doesn't mean I can't get some book time in 😁😎🤓😜
“One of the best examples of a “whydunnit” in recent years, German author Hammesfahr‘s twisty novel (also a USA mini-series) is largely told in flashback after Cora Bender, a seemingly normal mother and housewife, inexplicably stabs a man to death while on a beach picnic with her family. Cora confesses readily and claims to have no idea why she just committed homicide..”📚Has anyone read or watched this?

It‘s been a few days and I still can not get over the fact at how this book left me speechless. I love how Petra keeps you guessing with every chapter until the shocking ending. There also is a cliffhanger of an ending which left me thinking about the fate of Cora. I could read this book again and again and find something new every time. Definitely a good read for mystery and thriller lovers out there!
Watched the husband surf today while I read The Sinner. Maybe not the best beach read due to that whole beach scene, haha. Waiting on hurricane Maria to ruin our vacation 😣
Wow - so many lies it was hard to see the truth. No skim reading here or you'll miss something! Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Recommend! 📚
I'm watching The sinner and it's so good I'm regretting not have read the book. I'm this way. I gotta read the book before watching the movie/ tv show. The reverse doesn't work for me.... 😭 #moviesXbooks
Look ? what FINALLY arrived today! ?? My first #BOTM pick #LittleFiresEverywhere and #TheSinner! This is a dark, spellbinding novel where the truth isn't what it seems. One day by the lake, a young, quiet mom, Cora, stabs a stranger to death beside her family. She confesses but the "why" doesn't add up. So begins the slow unraveling of Cora‘s past, a harrowing descent into the depths of her own psyche and the violent secrets buried within. #TBR
Ya'll, I'm in such a reading slump 😒 I've started so many books and can't seem to finish any... They're all good books I just don't seem to be in the mood for any of them. Now I'm overwhelmed looking at all the books I still have to finish. *sigh* #readingslumpssuck
#WeekendPlans! I just picked up The Sinner and the new Paper Girls yesterday.
I have under 100 pages left in The Grip of It. It isn't super scary, but it's definitely creepy and has that nice, slow build-up of dread that I like.
I'm diving back into Tomie. I love Junji Ito's work, but I'm struggling with Tomie. I think I need to plunge through the first few stories. It's pretty well reviewed so maybe I just haven't hit my stride with it yet.
Haven't been much into T.V. lately, although I did get hooked into this twisted series! I was even more excited to hear it was based off a book! On tonight! I'm looking forward to reading the book. Has anyone read it? @penguinusa @PenguinPublishing
#bookmail! 📦 Got The Sinner in the mail today and #BOTM even threw in a tote! Boyfriend and I are going to buddy read this soon. ☺️
Ok, definitely watching this show very soon! This book wasn't exactly what I expected, but it kept me guessing and wanting to read more until the very last paragraph. I think a few words and terms got lost in translation from German to English. I'm really interested to see how it translates to TV. I saw it described as a psychological thriller, but the pace was too slow for me to call it a thriller. Psychological, yes. Thriller, no.
Here we go! Excited to start this one!
😱 My first time winning a giveaway! AND I found out I got the job I interviewed for! Thank you for all your positive thoughts! This is turning into an amazing day! 🤗🤗🤗

I'm also adding this to my never ending TBR because it looks pretty awesome!
Started watching this tv series and was caught between "wtf just happened?" And " holy hell"! So I found the book!
Is anyone watching this? I just watched the first episode and it's soooo good!
Has anyone read the book?
I was trying to finish this before the show started...I don't think that's going to happen. But I won't watch a minute until I finish. So far it's been intriguing.

A little lunchtime reading as I attempt to Read some more of this before tonight's premiere of the TV adaptation!
Unfortunately I know I won't be finishing it on time- I leave for vacation this Friday &it's due back at library before I return which means it has to go back tomorrow😞 [sigh]..... #BookwormProblems
Anyone else plan on watching the TV mini series?
😮☠👀🤐 #BooksToScreen #TBR #CrimeThriller
Based on Petra's bestseller, 'The Sinner' follows a mother (Jessica Biel) who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence & to her horror has no idea why. The event launches an inverted & utterly surprising crime thriller whose driving force is not the “who” or the “what” -- but the “why”.... Premieres on USA 8/2/17!
I'M INTRIGUED!!🤓🤔
Need to read it first!!
This afternoon, I'm going to dine on a thriller to clear my brain's palate. ☠️🖤📚
