A couple more thoughts on this Federation history:
1) fucking Malcolm Reed makes captain? And he expected to roll up and big dog the Organians?!
2) convergent evolution already exists on planet Earth, I don't think it's that radical to think it could exist across planets (the extent it exists with the humanoids does seem unlikely)

If you go into books like this expecting greatness, you'll end up disappointed. But if you just need a fun diversion, this one works. A bit predictable, but fast paced and good if you enjoyed the show.

#Pemberlittens Chiltern Classic another that needs added to the database. ?

"That is very true," replied Elizabeth, "and I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine." - Chapter 5

#Pemberlittens today's Pride and Prejudice is beautiful edition that includes recipes from Martha Stewart and the most amazing cookie art.

I was craving a classic afternoon tea so in my cup is Twinings English Afternoon tea. ???

Dirty car. Gabrielle Solis. Only reason her house is ever clean is because of hired help. When she doesn't have maids her kitchen is a total sty. #two4tuesday

Reading this article about predicting the Pulitzer for Fiction and so proud of myself for having read 2 of the 6 mentioned as favorites of the guy who wrote the article. AND! I‘ve read 8 of the 10 listed as predictions. (And I have at least heard of the other two…)
LOL - the winner OF COURSE didn‘t get a mention, but was on a long list for Natl Book Award: Night Watch by Jayne Anne Phillips 👏
Link will be dropped into comments.

BkClubCare Also, have never heard of Jayne Anne Phillips; will give her books a try. 📚 7mo
BarbaraBB I had never heard of her either 🙈 7mo

In 1848, Captain John Franklin & his crew went missing whilst searching for the Northwest Passage - a route between the Atlantic & the Pacific oceans deep within the Canadian Arctic. If you've ever read 'The Terror' by Dan Simmons, the book was based on that journey. In 2008 comedian & sometime actor, Billy Connolly, completed a 10-week voyage to the area for a TV series & this book is the resulting accompaniment. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf I rather enjoyed this. I've never seen the TV documentary series but if it was as entertaining as the book it must have been good viewing. Alongside his trademark humour, Connolly shows a great deal of understanding & respect for the Inuit culture, although I struggled with the parts about hunting seals etc, so I read those pages rather quickly. Otherwise it was an engaging & informative trip through the NP. 4🌟 (edited) 7mo

Can we do #TuesdayTunes on a Thursday night?? This just came up on a Spotify-curated playlist, and I could smell that school bus seat vinyl and that particular teenage muskiness. Man…took me straight back to high school. Hadn‘t heard the song in years!

BarbaraBB Of course we can! I didn‘t know this The Verve song but am listening to it while typing this. I love it when a song brings back such memories! 7mo
BarbaraBB Still listening and what a good album! I only knew them from their biggest hit here, Bitter Sweet Symphony, which I didn‘t like much. 7mo

Megabooks @BarbaraBB yes! This was an album I bought back then for their single, but I like the rest of the album much more now than BSS; although the orchestral background is still great. I associate that song with the final scene in Cruel Intentions, which was my college roommate‘s favorite movie so I saw it A LOT! Many good memories with her! 😁😁 7mo
Megabooks @BarbaraBB I‘m definitely a nostalgia listener, but I‘m picking up some great new songs too lately. 7mo
Megabooks @vivastory the lyrics definitely hit harder as an adult than they did as a teen. 7mo
BarbaraBB I‘d love to know what you‘re picking up these days and hope you‘ll continue #ThursdayTunes 😜🥰 (edited) 7mo
TieDyeDude This song is new to me, but I like it! Similar orchestral arrangement to BSS. Is that throughout the album? 7mo
Bookwomble @TieDyeDude Yes, it is. I'd recommend Richard Ashcroft's solo albums to you, especially Alone With Everybody and Human Conditions. Song for the Lovers from the former has a great orchestral introduction 😊 https://open.spotify.com/track/7a90gal9tr3yS8bEXUvu8D?si=-O-28vPQSKOgNjSPsyRh4A&... (edited) 7mo
Megabooks @Bookwomble thanks for chiming in! And recommending another artist I‘ll check out! I hope you try the album @TieDyeDude 👍🏻 7mo
Bookwomble @Megabooks You're welcome. Richard Ashcroft is the lead singer and main songwriter for The Verve, so if you like them, you'll like him 😊 7mo
Megabooks @Bookwomble I am SO BAD at knowing the names of band members! 😂😂 even bands I‘ve enjoyed for years I‘d have trouble naming them. 7mo
Bookwomble @Megabooks You only know if you know! 😊 7mo
