There was something icky about the way he spoke to her that I couldn‘t take as a joke. Too many sexist and stereotypical underlying comments and thoughts, even from the main character. Not my thing 👎🏼

There was surprisingly little baseball in this considering there‘s a baseball on the cover. But even though it didn‘t scratch my off-season itch with balls & strikes & hits & diamond shaped fields, this book was just the cutest. I loved both of the MCs, flaws and all.
Enchiladas would have probably been a better choice for #CookingTheBooks (super cute cooking scene), but thinking this was a baseball book made me want a hot dog real bad 😀
Two more home run spins for October! My #Bookspin (tagged) is perfect for MLB playoffs (Go Rangers! ⚾️) and my #DoubleSpin - Halloween Party - is exactly right for…well, you know. 🎃 👻 🧛♀️
My fourth completed book for #14Books14Weeks2023 and my second for #JoyousJune. This was a cute, low stakes romance. I found it in a FLL and thought I could try it, even though I typically an no fan of romance. It was OK. I‘d probably enjoy it more on the small screen. Nikole‘s man-bun boyfriend of five weeks proposes in public and she says “no”. Enter Carlos. Neither want a relationship right now, so friends with benefits is fine for now, right?
Hello #GroupL! I hope I didn‘t misunderstand the assignment, but these all were tagged as lighthearted on Story Graph. Let me know what you think (or I‘d be happy to go back to the drawing board!)

This one is a great romance, but didn't end quite how I was expecting,
3 ⭐️ Carlos was great...for the most part. Really thoughtful, considerate, responsible, caring. I loved the support and honesty from Nik's friendship group.
After the conflict scene- it all felt disjoined. The ending was abrupt and awkward.

Meh. This one wasn‘t for me! Started off strong, then just slowed way down. I don‘t particularly like the author‘s writing style. The conversations could use some work and a lot of unnecessary details could have been left out. 2 stars. Hopefully the rest of my #LMPBC group enjoys this one more than I did!
I liked The Wedding Date more. But this one was still good. IMO, most books that are in Reese's Book Club have not been all that great. The book opened with a slap in the face and then slows down. I am really enjoying the series and I like how all the characters are connected. I've already started The Wedding Party.
3 🌟 for Nikole and Carlos.

The other night at the ballpark someone proposed to Amanda on the scoreboard between innings. We never learned who proposed, who Amanda was, or how she responded. OTOH, the boyfriend at the beginning of the tagged book gets an immediate and public response. Hint: it‘s not the guy on the cover!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ at best. This may just not be an author for me. I felt the ending was rushed and at one point I was ready to scream at Nik to get her act together. She came off bratty for me. Read this for another #LMPBC. It‘s also a #bookspin read. @TheAromaofBooks
I am loving doing this bracket and choosing my favorite books throughout the year.
I usually try to remember my favorites of the year in Jan and always struggle or only remember those read in Nov. & Dec.

Loved it!! The main and secondary characters were all wonderful. Story was entertaining and fast paced. Started off with a bang of a public proposal - which is rarely a good plan.
Soooo I thought this was going to be a sports romance (there is a baseball on the cover!), but it turns out that it‘s not. It‘s ok though because it had a fantastic start and is still rolling.
I love when I have days in a row that I can just sit and devour books like this one. I have picked this one up a couple differnet times and something else always come up that is more important.
This was an amazing story. I loved every minute of it, and had a hard time putting it down. I loved the feminine point of view & how it empowers women. The ending was a bit disappointing, but it still leaves me wanting to read more of Jasmine's books.

What do you think of one of these for a romance novel choice? These are my top 4 on my TBR list.
Back to it. I started this book like a month ago and got distracted. Have some time before swim class so why not.

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. Romance isn't usually my genre, but all of the characters were so fun. And, it didn't include my least favorite "all of our problems could be solved if we just had a 5-minute conversation with each other" trope.
Y‘ALL. I thought I hated romance novels. The heaving bosoms, the turgid throbbing, the ‘love of a good woman will change him‘ crap. THIS IS NOT THAT, although it still gets steamy. This novel is funny - I laughed aloud often. Nik and Carlos seem so real in the way they talk, act, mess up. Maybe I like some romance novels? Or maybe Jasmine Guillory is a good writer (who overuses the word ‘grin,‘ but at least it‘s not ‘turgid.‘) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Bookspin
💙 I fell behind a bit, but this was my favorite book in September! Although I‘m not usually a big romance fan, I love this series because there‘s more substance to the stories.
⚾️ My only problem with this book is that the main character is a Dodgers fan, so I added a couple bobble heads since the Diamondbacks are far superior.

I've been in a cheesy, romantic mood lately with all of my rom-com reading, & it's gotten me out of my almost two year (thanks Covid) reading slump. I got so much reading done on my trip to the Bahamas with my SO, but it was a rom-com come to life as he proposed!! We've been together 6.5 years, and I couldn't be more excited to continue my life with him. Just like every rom-com there were a few obstacles along the way, but I'm ready for our HEA! ❤
I picked this audiobook when I got sick and wanted something lighthearted! I enjoyed it! I probably liked it better than The Wedding Date actually. It definitely had feminist elements, and I really liked the plot and characters! A good romance if you aren‘t super into romance (which I‘m not).
Thank you so much @ncsufoxes ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I‘m in love with everything. #FFFS #FallingForFallSwap
This was taken 2 weeks ago. We had a really nice monsoon storm so my reading buddy, Bombadil, and I decided to start this book on the back porch.

This is a cute fun romance. Nothing ground breaking, but just what you need sometimes. Be warned, there are some amazing food descriptions that will have you craving Thai, Mexican and cupcakes!!! 🧁 🧁 🧁
Here‘s my September #TBR!
This month I hope to read
🌵 Electric Deserts! by Amber McCray - poetry independently published by Jackalope Chaps
🌧 Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie for book club
👮🏻♂️ Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut for Banned Books Week
💍 finish the tagged book

Oh, hi! It's been awhile, but I think I'll dip my toes back in here. I'm rereading all of Jasmine Guillory's books while I impatiently wait for a galley of the new one. It's fun to revisit these characters now that I know them from the books they star in. And feel good fiction feels good right now.
I have loved all of her books and can‘t wait to see what more she has in store! #faveblackauthor #loveprevails @TheKidUpstairs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Let me just start by saying that this has nothing to do with baseball. It's really just a basic romance. If you're looking for something light and entertaining, I definitely recommend this one. I was totally drawn in and it's not ridiculously fluffy like some other books in this category.
Nik from the tagged book might be my spirit animal.
"I have stacks of brand-new books at home, all of which I was excited to read when I bought them, but now... none of them seem quite right to me."
This was a lot of fun... great characters. The writing is all right; I scrunched my face a couple of times with the bland word choices, repetition, and some unrealistic conversations.... but I was looking for light fun and I got it. And I‘ll keep reading her books for more of the same. #bookspinbingo
Jasmine Guillory write such great romcoms. The characters can be complex and fun.
Between a Pan and a so so. It‘s an okay romance overall and I love that Berkley is putting out diverse romances, however I feel like Guillory‘s characters all have the same voice even in the previous The Wedding Date. Everyone talks the same and a bit cringey sometimes. A decent intro if you‘re new to romance but not a favorite for me. Got a threesome there for my #bookspinbingo though 😎

Ladies here are some romance novels that are on m TBR. Any opinions?
The thing that audiobooks are going to be fighting against is, would I rather listen to the book or a podcast about the book? I gave this one 46%, did the math, and decided podcast. (I will admit to being biased in favor of podcasts.) What I read of this book was: fine! Just didn't grab me.
I need to do more experimenting, but it's possible that, for me, taking the audiobook route renders romance novels just "fine". Gotta do more rereads to get enough data!
A car make out session can still involve a conversation on race, a great inclusion by the author.
I‘m pretty open about the fact that romance is not my favorite genre. In spite of that, I was intrigued by the premise of The Proposal and Roxane Gay‘s glowing review. As someone who despises public proposals and adores Queen Roxane, I decided to give it a try. There were definitely some romance tropes that aren‘t my fave and I‘m not a romance convert now, but the story was fun.
Really enjoying this series! This is the summer of the romance novel for me.
A very public proposal would be an absolute nightmare for me (especially from someone I‘d only dated a few months), so, I can‘t wait to get into this story!
