Our family opens gifts. When I was little, we‘d go out to eat dinner & Santa would visit while we were away. My mother would routinely “forget her purse” & rush in to eat the cookies, drink milk, etc. Once we were old enough to understand, her forgetfulness that one day of the year was quite hilarious. My husband‘s family opened on Christmas Eve too. So we continued my family‘s tradition until recently.
