I think I beat my record of most read in a month. I ended up reading 31 books

I was excited for this one after loving My Lady Jane so much. Unfortunately to me it wasn't nearly as good as the first. The audiobook performance was still good and I think that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. If I had been just reading the physical book honestly I think I would have added it to my DNF list. Maybe just not a fan of Jane Eyre times in history. I like that they are all standalones though.

Another Jane Eyre retelling. There is always room for one more. With the Brontes as characters and Helen sticking around for a bit longer, the plot is a bit more convoluted but still great fun.

A retelling of Jane Eyre that involves real ghosts, a bumbling Branwell Bronte, references to The Princess Bride, and a happy ending that doesn‘t involve a manipulative, abusive husband. I loved it so much and laughed out loud repeatedly. Cannot recommend enough, especially for Bronte fans.

I flew through this book, I haven‘t done that all year with any others. The reimagined story of Jane Eyre (way better than the original, imo), with the Brontes, ghosts, some villains, & adventure. A lot of humor including some ghostbusters references that made me laugh. This one was more grounded in reality than My Lady Jane, but I love both. #doublespin for August

This satirical retelling of Jane Eyre (+ghosts) was a really fun read. I loved the way the authors broke the 4th wall to comment on differences in today's society and Bronte's time, and I laughed out loud often. But the last quarter felt pretty convoluted and my mind kept drifting away, feeling as though I'd lost my anchor to the story. That aside, I enjoyed the overall experience.

Book 9 of 2022

This series is really fun. In this one, the authors turn Jane Eyre into a ghost story with Charlotte Bronte as one of the main characters. Because obviously. This is totally entertaining. And the #audiobook is well done.

As the second book in the Lady Janies series, My Plain Jane lacks the spark of ridiculousness that was present in My Lady Jane. Perhaps spoofing/retelling Jane Eyre lends itself to a more rigid set of events, where book one was free to pilfer from various historical interpretation and loosely kept records.

Here we meet Jane Eyre, who is being courted by the Society for the Relocation of Wayward Spirits, keeping this one in line with the⬇️

I didn't intend on waiting until I read Jane Eyre to read this one, but since I have, I'll get the jokes! Thanks #thatsclassic You were looking out for me! @Annie1215

I have always enjoyed Jane Eyre and I enjoyed this reinterpretation. The addition of ghosts, political intrigue, humor and feminism made for a fun story. I enjoyed the asides poking at the some of the questionable things in Jane Eyre and at the pre-Victorian time period.

I‘m looking forward to picking up My Calamity Jane soon, even though I‘m sure she won‘t be as good as Jane in Deadwood. 🙂

This was an excellent book! Ghosts, political intrigue, possession and murder all wrapped around the love story of two very interesting and well written characters. I LOVE that this book calls out how strange it is for Jane to fall in love with Mr. Rochester and has some excellent things to say about the toll that trauma and neglect have on women. 5/5 stars, read if you enjoy humorous reinterpretations of classics & want a more feminist Jane Erye

I apparently forgot to review this book when I read it in August. Oops! I was surprised to find a retelling of Jane Eyre so interesting, since I really don‘t like the original. This story, however, is a lot more fun than the classic. Imagine Jane Eyre seeing ghosts!

YAY FOR THE BOOK THAT BROKE MY CORONA-INDUCED READING SLUMP! Seriously, been “slumping” since March! But this book was just ❤️❤️❤️. Meta, insightful, deadpan, and a brilliant deconstruction of Jane Eyre meets Alternative History that somehow manages to create a brilliant new story filled with amazing characters. Also, Alexander is SUCH a book!boyfriend.

This book seriously has me DEAD. I‘m living for this deadpan meta.

Just picked it up today at Barnes & Noble. Has anyone read this yet?

Hand, Meadows, and Ashton have done a fantastic job reinterpreting Jane Eyre into a silly adventure story full of ghosts and magic. It‘s a light-hearted romp with a cast of fun characters. It didn‘t always feel entirely focused, but seeing the authors weave Jane Eyre into a brand new creation was hugely enjoyable.

I adored the 1st book in this trilogy. It made me excited about this one.

MPJ fell short and I‘m so bummed! It was a supernatural twist on Jane Eyre. I‘ve not read the classic but this made me less excited to do so?

A few reasons why I struggled: Jane was rather shallow and boy crazy. Charlotte Brontë was obsessed with Jane Austen and Mr Darcy but in real life she was very adamantly not a fan. It just didn‘t work.

I‘ll still give book 3 a go.

I absolutely loved loved my lady Jane and with the third book coming out soonish I think it might finally be time to read this book. I keep passing by it in Target and convincing myself not to get it but....I don't think I can much longer lol.

This book is cute if you don‘t absolutely love the original story. I really enjoyed their first book, My Lady Jane, and had really high hopes for this retelling to be just as fun. However, the more I read the book the more dreaded having to pick it up again. I... didn‘t love this. So many historical inaccuracies, and a far too modern sense of humor for me.

Switching reads again since Anna K isn‘t that interesting to me. Could be me, could be the book, idk. So, let‘s try this again. If this book doesn‘t work, then I have no idea what I‘m going to do. Pictured here: what I‘ve been up to this week! Halfway through my cross stitch project (what will be the first holiday decoration in our new house) and reading this charming installment in the Janies series. I still like My Lady Jane better, but this was a fun ghostly take on Jane Eyre that I ended up enjoying nearly as much.

Expectations, am I right?

I was hesitant starting My Plain Jane because I loved Lady Jane so freaking much. And then I was pleasantly surprised! Very much its own thing, while still rocking the Princess Bride vibe.

Conversely, I loved Uprooted so so much I just couldn‘t wait, so I read the short story that eventually became Spinning Silver. It spoiled it for me. I‘ll never know if I‘d have liked it more had I not read the story.

I really like this book. It was so funny and interesting. Not as good as My Lady Jane but still really entertaining. I can't wait to read My Calamity Jane.

The story is so awesome and I liked the creative twist on it as a Jane Eyre lover , I like how they made correct historical fact into the story in a smart way . You might enjoy it

Quirky and charming YA retelling of Jane Eyre but where everyone can talk to ghosts. Slight redemption for Bran, the least interesting Bronte sibling.

I didn't love this as much as My Lady Jane but still an enjoyable, light-hearted and fun read.

This book had a little bit of everything: mystery, romance, thrills & adventure. You may know the story of Jane Eyre, but it's also the story of Charlotte Brontë, aspiring writer and seeker of stories. Jane and Charlotte are great friends at the school for girls where they aren't treated very well or taken care of very well. Jane ventures away as a governess, but can also see ghosts. Is this her calling? #whatwillshechoose #ghostsarepeopletoo ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was so funny. I laughed out loud a few times while reading it. It was a very unique and special take on Jane Eyre.

I have never read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönté but I will soon read it for sure after reading My Plain Jane.

I highly recommend this book.

Next on my TBR list, My Plane Jane.
I am still trying to finish The Night Circus. I love it, that's not the problem. I just have a lot of pain in my neck which gives me headaches (nerves) and I choose this book for the #BookFitnessChallenge so I'm waiting for the pain to pass. It's been raining a lot here and it seems like I feel more pain on these days. I will update tonight what I did so far but I haven't done much exercises.

The first one was a novelty, this was just more of the same

A fun take on Jane Eyre wherein Jane and Charlotte Bronte are friends and Jane can see and talk to ghosts. It maintains the cheekiness of the first book in this series but lacks some of the pizzazz. I‘ll definitely keep reading this series.

I was so excited to get my hands on the audiobook of second installment of the Janes Series from #Libby. I found this book to be witty and quite enjoyable. Swoonworthy, dreamy tall men who all have something to hide... Two young, strong women who want to make something of themselves. These remakes are delightful. While I didn't love this one QUITE as much as the first (My Lady Jane), I'd have to say it's a definite pick! 3.5/4🌟
