Ok, I loved everything about his book except that really weird conversation that Charles and Anna had about Brans feelings towards Mercy. Like I really wasn‘t sure what the author was trying to imply be causing having read that whole series I only ever saw a father, daughter relationship.
🦄Side note was doing some cleaning and found Agnes and her fluffy unicorn lol 🦄

ravenlee I had the same reaction to that bit. It‘s a total rewrite of everything we‘ve known about them up to this point. 1y

March 2021 - urban fantasy / reread- enjoyable and good to catch up before I read the next release

“He knew it was bot his job to make her smaller, safer. It was his job to lift her up as high as she wanted to soar — and to kill anything that tried to interfere.”

And this is one of the many reasons I adore Charles so very much. This is my favorite book so far in the Alpha & Omega series. Finishing up my reread of this in anticipation of tomorrow‘s release of Wild Sign! I am so very excited for this next installment of Charles and Anna‘s story.

One more book to reread and I'll be ready for the new one! This book and the next one see some long time characters off, so I'm hoping the new one is a little cheerier.

Book 99 of the year, finished Nov 23, audio

Didn't like this one quite so much again. They seem to alternate for me. I'll probably take a break from Briggs for now and go back and read the Mercy books after a while.

Decided to reread this while I was at it. Bran leaves Charles in charge of the pack. Soon after he leaves, outsiders start attacking the pack based on info from a traitor. The race is on to figure out who's betraying them and stop the attackers. A great mix of action, magic, and storytelling.

#BookishBingo: Muslim protagonist (Asil)

wanderinglynn I love Patricia Briggs‘s series. 👍🏻 6y
Michollio @wanderinglynn They're definitely among my favorites. 6y
Deifio Looks great! Is this the first in the series? 6y
Michollio @Defio It starts with a novella called Alpha and Omega (ebook or in On the Prowl). The first full book is 6y

As always, a great read from Patricia Briggs. Not the best A&O, but some important character development and backstory. I‘m sure the continuation of this story arc will be very interesting in future books.

On the down side, I felt like Bran‘s absence was forced and the red herring was not really believable, but the twist was good.
4/5⭐️

Why can‘t I just sit and read my whole book? Stupid adulting responsibilities.

On a related note, this book is as good as I‘d hoped and I really want to finish it.

I just called my BN (where I used to work) to see if they had received copies of this paperback (scheduled release is tomorrow, for both) and Lake Silence by Anne Bishop. The bookseller asked me to spell the tagged book. He then told me it isn‘t due out until January 29th, so that would be a few more days. 🤦🏻‍♀️

laurieluna 😲 how did they get the job? 😂 6y
mreads I thought they were March releases, I'm looking forward to reading both of them. 6y
ravenlee @mreads Both authors have new releases in March (Storm Cursed and Wild Country) but last year‘s releases come out in paperback tomorrow. 6y

Patricia Briggs is a wonderfully consistent urban fantasy author, who develops and maintains an interesting cast of characters, and organically stitches folklore and fantasy onto the tapestry of paranormal narratives. A light and enjoyable read, as usual.

Almost finished with this addition to the Alpha and Omega series and as usual, Patricia has kept my attention through the whole book. The action has not even came close to and end yet so I'm thinking the finish of this one will be a cliffhanger. WHY YOU DOING THIS TO US, PATRICIA??😂😂😂❤❤❤

Book #5 in the alpha & omega series. This is the 3rd fantasy author to use the word frisson at least once in their novel. Werewolf rules are complicated so basically the head honcho leaves so his son can figure out who the traitor in their midst is, but he doesn‘t explain this before he goes to make things more complicated

A pretty good addition to the Alpha and Omega series. I think I need to do a major reread of these and the Mercy Thompson series though. I‘ve forgotten a good bit.

I spent most of April packing up my apartment and moving (I may own too many physical books - more than 40 boxes). Anyway, the latest Patricia Briggs became available from the library so I take some breaks to read it.

Slower paced than most of her works, this book provided a backstories for several characters and set the stage for a new story arc that has been bubbling up. As always well-written but not a standalone.

Another odd case of #BookSerendipity, or what I‘m calling #Bookendipity, when two books you‘re reading crossover in unexpected ways.

Even when I‘m taking a break from my #YearOfTolkien, Christopher Tolkien still makes an appearance in my reading tonight! 😂

Seriously though, nice choice Patricia Briggs....of course an ancient werewolf and her fae lover would have Tolkien in the house.😉

Another wonderful Alpha and Omega novel. Enough is happening in the larger Mercy world that it might be worth a reread of some of the Mercy books to put it all in context...

My only critique is that the unveiling of the traitor and final showdown seemed to resolve a little quickly.

And such a beautiful cover! It really reflects an episode in the book well.

There is so much about this book I didn‘t see coming! And they‘re all spoilers, so, can‘t really discuss them... maybe in the comments? Parts of this book dip into fairytale retelling, the stakes are high, there are surprises, we meet new characters and go more in-depth with old friends. Not to mention heartbreak, betrayal, and magical shenanigans! And, as always, Anna and Charles‘ relationship makes my heart happy! 5/5✨ 🐺💕

Anna and Charles are home without Bran when an old wolf sends a call for help. Who is after their elderly, isolated fellows? Over several skirmishes, the pack starts to understand an enemy who might be in their midst, even while it amassed resources outside. Magic, memories, modern weapons, and betrayal make this latest Omega novel a fast-paced read in a longer arc in the series. Not particularly memorable but entertaining nevertheless.

Another great book from one of my favorite authors. I love how she mixes magic and legends from so many different backgrounds in this novel. And I enjoyed that it went straight into the story instead of lingering on Anna‘s past like many of the books in this series do. 4/5 stars. Not my favorite story so far, but still another fun addition to the Alpha & Omega series. Heartbreaking and heartfelt in Patty's usual way. Anna is still growing and finding her way.
