Reading and in between I'm knitting. First sock is finished! Yeah, first pair of self knit socks!
Another book read last week. This is book 6 in the series but is more a companion novel. Some different characters but in the same world. I really enjoyed this one, the plot the characters, the action. Predictable? Maybe but it was a fast read. Waiting to read the last book for now, next year there will be a new book in the series. 3.8/4⭐️

This is the first book in a spin-off series and works well as a stand alone. You understand what‘s happened previously, but don‘t need to read the previous series to follow what‘s happening. Not what I was expecting, and the bad guys seemed a bit dim when you considered the background. However, their actions were explained well so it worked in the end. Fast, engaging read. Love a book that makes you want to read the sequel right away. 😊😊😊
Not quite as good as the Courtyard cycle, but still very very good. Not really a stand-alone, as so much from the previous books is referred to throughout, but a well-done segue from Lakeside to other parts of Thaisia. I doubt there will be more books at The Jumble but expect Sproing to feature in the periphery of future stories. 4.5 ⭐️
Despite yesterday‘s swing-and-a-miss, I stopped by BN today and was able to get them both! Now the little lull I‘ve been having the last few days should be over.
A pick, with caveats: This one doesn't work as an introduction to the series, and Bishop seems to have painted herself into a corner of needing to have magical dream/vision sequences to push the story forward. As much as I liked seeing this story from the prespective of a garden-normal human, I think I would have preferred if the point-of-view character here was one of the Others instead.
Just a few more weeks until the next book releases!
I loved this first of Anne Bishop‘s Others spinoffs. In it, we get to see how the events in Lakeside have affected other parts of their world, and how the remaining humans and terra indigene will move forward from here. There‘s crowgard charm, elder terror, and everything in between that we‘ve come to expect from The Others. New town, new people, and the game has definitely changed. #ReadingWomenChallenge @thereadingwomen #19 #ABookAboutNature
Not sure this was as will written as The Courtyard books by the same author but still enjoyed returning to the same world.
In this #monstermash who are the monsters? Sometimes appearances are deceiving. #octoberxfiles
Anne Bishop is my favourite author. This book was fantastic. I love the world and characters that she has created. I did not want the book to end - I want more! 5 stars for me.
I loved visiting the world of the Others again. This book was fairly predictable. But a fun offshoot. I missed some of the characters from the original series, although these characters were enjoyable. Just expect similarities.
Some holds came in! I'm incredibly excited! Going to start the tagged book ASAP. My Husband away for a few days, so hopefully I'll have a fair amount of reading time after the boys are in bed. #libraryhaul #lovemylibrary #TheOthers #NevernightChronicle
So many great books being released this year, but I‘ll have to go with the tagged book, Book 6 of The Others, released last month. Anne Bishop has created an incredible world and she is a fantastic storyteller. I read the first one, Written In Red, and was immediately sucked in. And since then, I have eagerly awaited each subsequent book in the series.
Thanks for doing the #curiousheartgiveaway
Another entertaining read in The Others series. I'm a little sorry that series has shifted focus to a new community and set of characters, I still really enjoyed it and now can't wait to see what's next for this group. 4/5 #specfic #paranormal #Aprilreads
#ItsFriday (and my birthday!!), so I treated myself to the day off and the latest Anne Bishop book!! It‘s sort of a bittersweet gift because now I‘m #doomed to the #suspense of awaiting her next book! Though this is a shift in the series to new characters, it‘s easy to start quickly enjoying her engaging writing!! #HappinessIsResistance #ReadingResolutions #Aprella
This novel introduces a new set of characters in the world of the Others. There is no real mystery; the bad guys are known. Yet the reader is drawn into the world of the characters and their fragile alliances and friendships.
“Words can cause as much damage as a fist. They can leave deep scars that never fully heal. And they can kill.” Anne Bishop never disappoints. She creates worlds that are just a little bent with wonderful characters.
Perfect escapism for me after a long week of work. I love the world that Bishop has created for this series. Start at the beginning, each one has been a fun read.
So after I got over my disappointment that this is not actually part of The Others series but is a spinoff, I enjoyed it. It takes place in the same world, but is a different set of characters. I didn't feel it was as good as The Others but that could be because I've grown to care about the characters in the series and this is a new group. Still liked it though.
Y‘all. Y‘ALL. I‘m like sixty pages in and can‘t force it. I don‘t like the MC, I miss the Lakeside Courtyard and I‘m just all around bummed about this one. Anne Bishop‘s most annoying writing quirks are on display and it‘s just no good for me. The Others series is one of my absolute favorites, but I‘m just going to stick to the first five and pretend this doesn‘t exist. #YearOfDisappointments
This was better than I thought it would be and I enjoyed the beat cop with a bad attitude/corrupt city leaders troupe explored in a really cool world. I don‘t think there was much world development compared to the other books in the series. Castle says thanks @JennyBookworm for the fun new toy!
Once I had a grasp of this world and its inhabitant‘s things went smoothly. I was not too thrilled with Vicki‘s character at the start because she seemed rather weak to me. I did not know how she was going to be the type of character that drew me into the story but as the story went on I started to like her. I loved how this story ended!! Such a great read.…. New town & new characters, though still the world of the “terra indigene”. Character tropes get repeated (good human cop, abused woman protagonist, calm vampire ally, cruel humans, pragmatic shapeshifters, natural elements that take human shapes, people with ESP) but help sort out the confusingly long cast. Bishop‘s final conflict is always eye-rolling, with a woman in danger somehow left alone to deal with baddies, but the rest is entertaining.
Amazing!!! I love this series and I was so looking forward to the new direction... I am definitely not disappointed!
I loved this new installment to “The Others” universe. We meet some familiar characters from previous books and fresh new characters who are just wonderful. I‘m excited to see more of Vicki and all of the Sproinger community.
My favorite kind of problem - too many books! All of my library holds are coming in at once... #libraryhaul #libraryaddict
Just got home from my trip to SLC! I had SO MUCH FUN! And I did a thing... In my defense, two of these are for @Nessavamusic and there are no bookstores anywhere near me! Now, to find somewhere to stack my haul! I‘m out of shelf space! Like, beyond out of shelf space! 😬 Shh! Don‘t tell!🤫 and then it‘s time to recover from my trip! 😴

Bubbles... long soak after a good day at work... and my kindle ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Just a small piece of Heaven!
Sooo excited! This series is incredibly good, dark and thoroughly original. #favorite #paranormal #glorytotheguild
I finished this last night while worrying about my husband driving home in the worst snow storm we‘ve seen in a long time. After the last 2 in the series disappointed, I was pleasantly surprised by how much enjoyed this. I liked all the new characters and that the heroine was not beautiful. Parts were predictable, but it was still a fun read.
I was pretty underwhelmed by the last two books in the series, so hopefully a new set of characters will refresh things a little!
I‘ve been stalking my library website for the past month so I could put this book on hold and it finally showed up in the catalog today!! I squealed! I‘m so ready for the expansion of this world! And I maybe need more of a life...🤷🏻♀️
