All Is Not Forgotten
All Is Not Forgotten | Wendy Walker
In the small, affluent town of Fairview, Connecticut, everything seems picture perfect.Until one night when young Jenny Kramer is attacked at a local party. In the hours immediately after, she is given a controversial drug to medically erase her memory of the violent assault. But, in the weeks and months that follow, as she heals from her physical wounds, and with no factual recall of the attack, Jenny struggles with her raging emotional memory. Her father, Tom, becomes obsessed with his inability to find her attacker and seek justice while her mother, Charlotte, prefers to pretend this horrific event did not touch her perfect country club world. As they seek help for their daughter, the fault lines within their marriage and their close-knit community emerge from the shadows where they have been hidden for years, and the relentless quest to find the monster who invaded their town - or perhaps lives among them - drive this psychological thriller to a shocking and unexpected conclusion.

I actually listened to Mad Love by the same author. Performed by a cast, one of whom was Alexis Bledel…otherwise known as Rory Gilmore. Fantastic listen. Short at 4 hours and it flies by.

Today‘s Prompt: THERAPY

THRILLER - SUSPENSE

A powerful, amazingly written read.

The story line is highly developed, carried out in an organized fashion, and gives the reader a lot to think about.

Yeah, I hated this. Main reason is the narrator, the therapist, Dr Alan Forrester, who quite frankly should be struck off, disbarred, whatever the equivalent is. Machiavellian to the extreme, his actions go against everything a therapist should do. 1⭐

This book could be very triggering - there's infidelity, a suicide attempt, sexual content, & the sexual assault is graphically described at times.

DieAReader I guess it‘s a good thing it off the TBR😉🥳👋🏻📓 2y
OutsmartYourShelf @DieAReader Yes, it‘s in the ‘donate to charity for resale‘ pile now. 2y

A very original plot, with lots of drama. Probably the most graphic SA descriptions I‘ve ever read, but I think it gives an unusual insight to the feelings of survivors(if you can stomach it). The depiction of mental health is incredibly split between harmful stigmas and refreshing insights. All in all, a good plot with all the twists you can ask for, if you can get past the gory details and beyond arrogant narrator.

Hey #GroupF 📚 Here are some of my choices for #Round12 of #LMPBC 😃 Let me know what you think!

@suvata @sharread @Reynosa8701 @magyklyXdelish

magyklyXdelish The ones that interest me the most are Lies, A Nearly Normal Family and the First Mistake. The only one I don‘t have interest in is the Wendy walker one, I was spoiled on that book a while back. Any of the others I‘m okay with :) 3y

My April #BookSpin list.

For March, I‘ve read 11 of my 20 choices so far (though I still need to get to my #doublespin pick), so I‘m hoping my motivation will continue and I‘ll unshelf most of these books, too. 🤞🏻 Looking forward to seeing which numbers are picked!

Instead of reading I‘ve been spending all my time cuddling and playing with Rémy. I did manage to finish my entry for the February #bookspin #doublespin ?A very difficult, frustrating and personally disturbing read with such a condescending, arrogant, narcissistic narrator that I almost bailed. This one will also be looking for a new home. #scribd #readtheusa2020 #connecticut #litsyatoz #abecedarian #A #remysiberiancat

I did not care for this book 🙈 I struggled through the first hundred pages, got impatient and did something I‘ve only done a handful of times: just skimmed the middle and read maybe the last 80 pages so to see how everything was resolved. It has overall good reviews everywhere I‘ve looked but it just was not for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely kept me wanting to read more and had a good twisty ending. The plot is a bit disturbing as it deals with rape and is quite graphic so not a suitable read for everyone. Also not much dialogue in the story as it‘s mostly told in narration of a therapist who interacts with most of the characters but all in all I liked it.

A small town, a perfect town, a town with secrets, and a town with the not so perfect residents they think they are.

This was an amazing book! From the point of view of a rape survivors therapist its unravels the story of her, her family, and the night of the attack. It had an excellent ending that left you really feeling for the narrator.

Wow! This author knows how to write an intriguing story. For a moment I wasn‘t sure I would like this book because of the way it was being told and there was a chunk of the book that got too technical about memory and the brain. That stuff intrigued me but it was written very sterile like. I almost gave up. But I‘m happy I didn‘t. The twist and turns were things I weren‘t expecting and kept the story fresh.

Trigger Warning: Rape.

This was a weird book...in a good way. Serious trigger warnings for sexual assault. The narrator of the story is unknown for quite awhile and I kept wondering if I just missed it. I thought I had the perpetrator figured out several times and was wrong to the end. It is a well written psychological thriller. The end of the audio has an interview with the author.

Finished my first audio book! My mom and I listened to Stephen King audio books when I was younger when we would travel but that‘s it until now. I like having physical books to read, so I never liked ebooks either. However, I really enjoyed listening to this while driving, cleaning, cooking and basically anytime I couldn‘t have a physical book in my hands. I wasn‘t sure about reading 2 books at the same time but it worked out fine! Pick! 3.5⭐️
