Two short stories in one book. I struggled a bit with the first one but really enjoyed the second story. Both written well, just was more invested in second with the Star Wars references 😂
I read one of these stories, Kindred Spirits, back in 2018, but Midnights was new to me. It was the perfect final read of 2022. We see two best friends, Mags and Noel, grow closer over the course of a few New Year's Eves. Noel is the life of the party and ready to connect with anyone who crosses his path. Mags is quieter but fiercely loyal to her playful bestie. It‘s just adorable and sweet and pitch-perfect for my NYE read.
Delightful! Loved the NYE short story and the Star Wars meet-cute in line story!
I barely read YA but this was such a wonderfully cute, cosy festive read. The two stories it contained were both very comforting and I loved the illustrations particularly. I‘d love to reread these on future Christmasses

Ahh, I love these two short stories, they just make me smile! And the illustrations *chefs kiss* are perfection!
Loving this reread! ✨
I'm not a huge fan of short stories, but thought I'd read this for #AuthorAMonth #RainbowRowell.
Super short books I‘m likely to read this month ✨
Book challenges that have prompts like “books published in the month of November” make me go : 😱
Happily and for the sake of my sanity I found a really good list on goodreads, originally published for the popsugar challenge...
Read this adorable book today. I enjoyed both of the short stories and all the illustrations. This is the first book I read by Rainbow Rowell and I definitely need to read more of her books.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Almost Midnight was the perfect closure to my 2019 reading year.
The addition of Simini Blocker's illustrations to this special edition was such a treat and added a delightful, much appreciated new dimension to these charming stories.
Rainbow Rowell continues to be a favorite author; her ability to write believable characters and natural dialogue one of my favorite aspects of her writing.

Midnights is a wonderful short story #SetOnNewYearsEveDay. It follows Noel and Mags at every New Year #celebration over 5 years as their relationship evolves. It's funny and sweet- pure Rainbow Rowell. #AuldLangReads #NewYearNewYou

My Christmas tree is still up, folks.
Yup. I'm one of many people (I'm sure) who holds on to that cozy, nostalgic feeling the holiday season brings for as long as she possibly can. And yes... I've considered seasonal ornaments... but I digress.
Above, for your (and @BookNAround's ?) consideration, are my #lastfirst reads for 2019 and 2020 respectively: the tagged book to end the current year and "Out of the Easy" to begin a new one.
I finished this little book of 2 holiday themed stories a few days ago before a vicious sinus infection took me out. Rainbow Rowell‘s characters and stories are as sweet as ever. Some of my butter rum snickerdoodles appear in the background. Holiday bake-cation is in full swing! 🍪
This was so cute!! Now I am really looking forward to Eleanor and Park!

I am so grateful for this #LitsyLove #Winterswap package from @NeedsMoreBooks . Rashmila, I love everything. I can't wait to read the books and I adore the cat socks! Thank you for everything!! 💜
The author line up for this years Portland Book Festival were announced last night and the list is awesome!
I am so excited to meet Rainbow Rowell! Along with Laurie Halse Anderson, Sabina Khan, Gabby Riveria, Abdi Nazemiah, Shea Ernshaw, and Jasmine Warga.
And that is just a few of them!
I can‘t wait for Nov 9th. Anyone else in the area planning on going?

Visited a library branch other than my own yesterday and picked up this beautiful little book. It was such a quick read, I finished it in the same day. This was the first Rainbow Rowell book I‘ve read and I must say.. I wasn‘t disappointed. Her writing style was so easy to read. I was sucked right into the stories despite them being so short. They were both very satisfying bite sized stories.
I read this Jan 27th & rated it 4 ⭐️ on GoodReads. I quite enjoyed these two short stories. I think I just needed something light hearted and sweet.
In our first Unassigned Reading episode of the new year @sebrittain and I discuss our 2019 bookish resolutions. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or at http://unassignedreadingpod.com/book-talk-9-2019-bookish-resolutions/
1. My HP themed 40th birthday cake that the hubs made me.⚡️
2. My Goodreads goal is 125 books.📚
3. Worst things: Our beloved dog, Rocky died very suddenly, and a month later I spent 4 days in the cardiac unit of the hospital. Best things: I survived, and all my immediate family did too. 🖤
4. I‘m going to try to be a little more social. 😳
5. I read it yesterday. 💪

This was utterly charming and adorable! Two super cute short stories, both of which take place in December. Like all of Ms. Rowell‘s books, the characters in this one have so much life and endearing vulnerability. A really sweet, lovely read. 4 1/2 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
I was going to try to squeeze this in yesterday, but I didn‘t have time. It‘s okay though, it seems like a good one to read on New Year‘s Day. 😊🎆🥂🍾
The second story is about a girl who waits in line for 4 days to see a Star wars movie. It was so funny.
The first story was so cute and I love the art work. Now it's time for cheesecake 😃

Since I don't think I'll be able to finish the other book I'm reading I am just going to read these instead.

Awwww, these two short stories were so cute! Rowell is one of my faves and this definitely didn‘t disappoint! What a great way to end the year!
Final book of the year. I loved Kindred Spirits (which was actually a reread for me) but Midnights was just okay. Now I'm off to bed since I'm actually working first thing in the morning. The joys for working in a business that never closes. Happy New Year Littens and see you on the other side 😁😘

This sparkling thing was my last physical read of 2018. I‘ve read Midnights previously and loved it; thankfully I found it just as charming the second time around! Kindred Spirits was not what I expected, but was another delightful little treat!
A cute, light, festive read! Quick but satisfying :)
This was a cute duo of short stories for a quick and fun escape. I read that Midnights, one of the stories, first appeared in another novel I read, but I didn‘t remember it. Kindred Spirits, the other story, was cute in a way only Rowell could pull off. Although I‘m too old for the current fangirl moniker, I‘ve always been jealous of the Star Wars and Harry Potter fans. Their fandoms are huge and never ending, and while not for me, seem fun.
Ten books away from my Goodreads goal. Can I pull it off???
If you want a quick, cute read, this is the perfect book! It contains two short stories. The first, Midnights, is an adorable, lovey-dovey, feel-good story of young love. The second, Kindred Spirits, follows the blossoming of a relationship created through the camping out for the newest Star Wars. The first story I found far better than the second but both were enjoyable! I‘d love to know what y‘all think!

Our combined christmas books. 🙀😻
I pulled this off my stacks for a little, light reading a couple days ago. I‘m not usually into short stories or YA, but it is a sweet little gem 💎. A good read to brighten a mood or take a break between heavy reads. 3/5⏰s Thanks for sending this my way last year @Simona
Rainbow Rowell is becoming one of my favorite authors! This was two festive short stories. They were both super cute and it was a fast read!
My book is here from Book Depository just in time for my Thanksgiving break! Here's to 6 days of reading time! 😃📚😃📚😃📚
First finished book.. it‘s super small so whatever. Really cute stories.. I feel like Rainbow Rowell can do no wrong in my book!! 4/5 stars! ❤️
Well look who finally went to the bookstore 😻🧚🏻♀️
"I need you to be my person. I need to see you. And hear you. I need you to stay alive. And I need you to to stop kissing other people just because they're standing right next to you when the ball drops." -"Midnights"; inside "Almost Midnight"
I've followed @RainbowRowell & @siminiblocker for years, thrilled they joined. We may spend every day with someone and just not see them in a romantic way or as a potential friend, until something ignites.
Had this little book sitting on my shelves for months and oh my goodness 💘
How this woman packed the most epic and cute love story in just 50 tiny pages !? 😍

It‘s been a slow month of catching up on work and not having much of time for my reads. Last weekend we did a short drive into KL, Malaysia - to spend time as a family and doing what we love - savoring all the great local foods! Come late evening, when everyone is tucked into bed -I‘ll pull out this adorable book that brings on a huge smile as I slip into slumberland... I love Rainbow Rowell!
