This book was an excellent feel good story and a really good reminder of how important it is to live in the present, enjoy the live we have and strive for what we want in life. I only wish it would have been more obvious that Emma realized that her future is miserable because she is unhappy in the present. I also really thought the concept for the book was creative and different than your typical young adult “love story” and drama book.

I gave this like 2 stars. It was cool toward the beginning, but about halfway through, I started getting bored. The plot was predictable, and I wasn't really invested in the teens. I feel like this could have been a great book, but it wasn't!

I am surprised I was able to complete my goal for the month considering about 2 weeks of May I didn't read anything because of familial stress and finals week. But I plowed through and I'm ready for my next goal! I'm at 22/60 and so excited for the rest of my borrows from the library. Then I really need to get started on my physical books lol! #bookly #monthlygoal #ebooks #audiobooks #maygoal

So I didn't hit the 24 for the #readathon #24B4Monday, but I DID get to double digits this time 🥰 that's good enough for me! I got three books done which was more than I expected considering I was out nearly all of Saturday (all the time was mostly witching hour reading). How did y'all do this weekend? Up next, finishing off the tagged book. Another YA and we'll see if I'm sick of the genre by then LOL

TheSpineView A good showing! 6y

Excuse me, but in 1996, you were only allowed up to 10 characters in your AOL screen name. GET IT RIGHT.

Mehso-so

I was hoping that this would have more about the futuristic stuff but it kind of revolved around the characters' relationships more. I did love how it was set in 90s america tho! Saying this i think there was a great moral to the story and it was enjoyable 😁think it would make a great television series!💗💗

Mehso-so

Too much relationship drama, not enough evil Facebook. Also so many characters in this (including the female protag) are just wildly unreasonable about so many things that it makes for a frustrating reading experience.

No way high schoolers in 1996 have school-issued email accounts.

khooliha Are they... evil high school issued email accounts? 6y
holarosarita @khooliha Sadly, no. Just a weird anachronism. There are a few, like teenage boys filming each other setting their farts on fire? Filming how? None of you is set up as the kind of film nerd that keeps a camcorder on them all the time, did y‘all really go home, borrow a camcorder from someone‘s dad THEN go back to an alley to film farts? 6y
khooliha @holarosarita Sounds like they didn't think their recent period piece through! 6y

I'm actually really excited to start this one. Set in 1996, just at the cusp of the beginning of the internet. I remember when you had to plug into the phone line if you wanted to go on the internet which then meant you had no phone. #winterreads #bookchallenge #ya #youngadult #jayasher #carolynmackler

rather_be_reading a jay asher book idk about!! 7y
introvertedbooks @rather_be_reading highly recommended. It was a sweet story that reminded me of my childhood growing up in the 90s. I seriously just want Jay Asher to write more books! 7y

Spot of *iced* tea and a good book! Just finished this gem of a book and, while I would have preferred the ending not be so cookie cutter, it was a really great YA book that actually makes one think about how each action, no matter how small, effects our future. Jay Asher does it again!

So going to start this today!!

So normally I don't talk about my anxiety, but it's been so bad the last week, I have to take 3 weeks off work.

Even reading isn't helping me like it normally does!

So I hope I can get myself together.

This book has such a promising premise (kids in 1996 find their future Facebook profiles), but it ends up squandered on a boring "girl figures out she is meant to be with her friend, which we all knew obviously all along" plot. Could have been so much more.

This story is very original. It was great to read about all the 90‘s fads. The idea that changing your mind or actions could impact the future was interesting. That‘s all that impressed me about this book. The story itself was incredibly boring, too much mundane high school life. I was more interested in what their future selves were saying on Facebook then their every day lives. I really wanted this book to be amazing but it was just okay.

1990s. You pick up an AOL disc promising a free 40 hours of Internet. You login and stumble across a website called Facebook only to discover your profile showing what you've become and who you've married 20 years in the future. And every thing you do today changes it. How would you act differently? Dynamite book with an incredibly original concept.

RadicalReader @Nebula_of_Books also enjoyed this novel couldn‘t have been entertained and immersed in a story 6y
