Oh, this book broke my heart. It came into my life at the exact right time and it might take awhile to recover from this one. The main friendship is so beautiful and that makes the main character‘s grief even more painful. I will definitely be rereading this one several more times in the coming years.
I'm new here, and I've been trying to update my profile (what I've read/want to read). I spend hours browsing books and when I've gotten a stack I need to start reading.. I can't decide! I usually get so indecisive that I just start looking for more books ?.
Now that I have Litsy to pressure me, I think I'll finally start with "Before I Let Go" by Marieke Ninjkamp ??♀️
Corey goes back to Lost to mourn the loss of her best friend Kyra.
I totally expected a different kind of plot twist at the end of this book.
Finished my Pride Reading Challenge for June 🏳️🌈

Picked up some books I wouldn‘t normally read! The ⭐️ were my favorites!
📖 Small Town Hearts
🎧 Hurricane Girl
📖 Before I Let Go ⭐️
🎧 Carry On
🎧 Merciful Crow
📖 This Is How It Always Is ⭐️
📖 I Have Lost My Way
📖 Boy Meets Boy
Finished my first book for readathon (nearly 2 hours in)! I don‘t know what to make of this story as I still can‘t decide if it was believable or what it was going for...but it was a pretty good read as I tried to figure that out. I picked it up cause of a student rec so this is one book off my TBR pile.

Stack on the left consists of books I have started but not finished. Stack on the right consists of books I have planned on reading for awhile now (notice many are library books). Basically these are my piles to work on over the next few days for the readathon!

💛 yes!!! Crisp fall day in Texas
💜 both for distance and for reading
🖤 tagged: took too long to develop, not believable, did not like characters😖
Where do I begin....a few hours I'll never get back
This is the author of This is Where It Ends.
Y‘all. This book is frustrating. As they say in the South, the author went around her ass to get to her elbow. And so.much.angst. *sigh*
Reading with the Dorkie #dogsoflitsy 😂😂🐶
I had such high hopes for this one but it fell very, very short of the work. Not only were the characters flat, there were glaring plot holes. What a waste of a great premise.
3⭐️ BEFORE I LET GO is a young adult novel that speaks to the kind of friendships two teenage girls can have, dreaming about their future, their hopes and their hero‘s. One of the things I liked most about the book was the idea of Cory‘s quest to discover what happened to her friend, despite the many obstacles put in her way. https://www.bluestockingreviews.com/blog/before-i-let-go
I requested this fron NetGalley about 6 months ago. I just got approved today, but happy to have the free ebook. Has anyone read this book? Did you enjoy it? Does it read like YA? Thanks!
Park day! I made a really terrible error about how much walking I had in me and now I am completely dead and can't do housework BUT it was a nice day and I got to read outside in the breeze.
I‘m not sure what to make of this book exactly. This line is poetically beautiful though. ☄️
Cool book. Tonal and dark. It felt a little like a cult book, but not fully. I liked the setting and the feeling. A little creepy but in a good way.
The best part about this book is that, gathered from the author's note, I think I would really like the author. Other than that, I'm disappointed. The book feels like it's missing so much. I was left thinking, "That's really all there is?" Plus, I just couldn't suspend my disbelief that the people in the town, especially the parents, would be so awful. I'll try to put up a review on my blog soon.
I am almost halfway through this book, and since around the first 25 pages of the book, I've been convinced that the two characters, Corey and Kyra, are actually one girl with multiple personalities. I hope I'm wrong, because if it's true, it was way too easy to figure out.
This isn't rated very well on Litsy, but I'm going to give it a chance because it sounds interesting. #yareads
I didn't love this book. The idea was interesting but the characters were all really underdeveloped and so many aspects of the story didn't make sense. I was constantly waiting for the twist to the story and it never came. Everything was just lackluster.
"It doesn‘t have to be a happily ever after or happily always. Just a happily once. A happily sometimes. Hope. That‘d make our pain worth it."
❤️❤️❤️
Completely sucked into this new YA novel! Small community, friendships, suspense, and issues surround mental health.
Marilee Nijkamp does not disappoint.
Let's just say I would be DNF'ed it if I didn't recieve it in exchange for an honest review....
I just finished reading this book and I was in tears at the end. Working on my review now.
I shared some book trailers and new books with my students last week. They seemed really interested in Before I Let Go. Has anyone read it? I can‘t wait to add these to my shelves!
I enjoyed this and like This Is Where It Ends, it was a quick read. I definitely had some moments where I felt angry at the characters.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I‘m on a roll I feel this year. This was my four book and I believe my letter ‘B‘ for #LitsyAtoZ.

I don't get what was the point/intention of this story. The characters felt flat, the suspense was non-existent (it was pretty obvious what was going on), the chapters written in script were randomly thrown in and really ruined the atmosphere. I liked mental health representation (Kyra had bipolar disorder), but overall, this book just quite didn't do it for me.
While this may be an unpopular opinion, this one was a pan for me. It tried to cover some heavy topics, but the disjointed timeline, the hint of the paranormal and the dark nature of how an entire town (her parents included) treated/used/abandoned a bipolar teenaged girl...quite frankly deeply disturbed me. I also felt the character development was lacking here. It was almost a DNF for me. Maybe others will appreciate it...just not my cup of tea.
First Read of the year, first book logged in #bookout. Overall I really enjoyed this story. Once again Marieke writes a compelling story with relatable characters. THere were some parts of the story I wanted explained a bit more, but I still really like this book. 3.5 stars. A great cold day read for sure (as it takes place in a winter Alaskan wilderness)!
First read of 2018! I decided to start with a 2018 release that comes out tomorrow! Hopefully I‘ll finish it in time to let you know if you should go buy it!
Cool beans!
Third book this week, I think! This was an absolutely heart-wrenching read. It‘s a story about a college-age girl called Corey going back to the tiny town of Lost Creek, Alaska, where she grew up, upon hearing that her very best friend, Kyra has suddenly died. But Corey knows something isn‘t right and Kyra shouldn‘t have ‘gone‘ so soon. Huge topics in this one: bipolar disorder, grief, bisexuality🙀Read my review! http://bit.ly/BeforeILetGoReview
Days before Corey is to return home to Lost Creek, Alaska, to visit her best friend, Kyra dies. Corey is devastated and confused. The entire Lost community saying her death was meant to be. And they push Corey away like she's a stranger.
Corey knows something is wrong. Lost is keeping chilling secrets. But piecing together the truth about what happened to her best friend may prove as difficult as lighting the sky in an Alaskan winter...
I forgot I took a "real" photo of this book and just used a dim iPhone photo in my review. But I like this photo better.
