Hi, friends! I‘ve started a new Facebook page where I‘ll be doing at-least-weekly costumed storytimes on Facebook Live! If you have kiddos who need some extra entertainment in this stressful time, I‘d very much appreciate it if you popped over and gave the page a like, and tuned in tonight at 7 for the inaugural Storytime!

https://www.facebook.com/superenchantingstorytimes/

MissAimz_55 I can‘t find it. Can you post the link please 5y

Although it is spelled differently when I think of the word grim this is all I can think of. These fairy tales are absolutely timeless and are still being remade and re-imagined. Although the originals are scarier than any film you could ever see or book you could read! 🖤

#ChillingPhotoChallenge
1pt for #TeamStoker
#Scarathlon

Chrys I love the original fairy tales, they really are much darker than many realize 5y
BeansPage @Chrys I completely agree! They are so dark that I will not read them to my four-year-old son until he's a little older. 5y
ElizaMarie Have you seen the show Grimm? I really liked it :) I had stopped watching it because life (moving or something I can‘t remember) but I loved it and will rewatch it soon 5y
See All 18 Comments
BeansPage @ElizaMarie unfortunately I haven't seen the show yet. I'm so behind on all my TV and movies it's not even funny 😑 5y
ElizaMarie I usually am to. But being kinda in a longish distance type of relationship now (I‘m a travel nurse) I watch and read so much more when I‘m away from home then when I‘m home (every 3 months for at least a month) I fall back behind (unless it‘s something my hubby and I are binging together) 5y
BeansPage @ElizaMarie wow what an interesting career! How do you and your hubby handle the distance? How long have you guys been married? I'm a professional book reviewer and promoter so I stay at home with my son all day long everyday. I like to think I travel through books 😁 5y
ElizaMarie We‘ve been together for 4 years (yesterday) and married for 1.5 of those years. I take 3 month contracts. He usually comes sometime between those months and stays about a week (unless it‘s during summer or Christmas then he stays over a month — he teaches English and literature at a college)... every three months (or when the contract ends sometimes I extend) I take a month or two off and stay home with him (edited) 5y
BeansPage @ElizaMarie that's fascinating. It takes a very strong couple to be able to live like that and have a stable marriage. My hat's off to you darlin 😘 5y
ElizaMarie I can say we spend tons of time together, we have traveled and experienced so much more since I started this (2 years ago) I felt like when I worked in my home town, I was always drained and had house stuff to do, now when I have a day off I explore the city or nearby cities. This contract is the closest from home so I‘m only 5 hours away (we will see each other so much more for this one, I‘m usually at least a state away, I live in Texas) (edited) 5y
ElizaMarie Thanks! I love what I do. We want to move eventually out of our home town, this also gives us an opportunity to see different areas. I‘m from Texas and have worked in New Mexico, Oregon, Missouri, Kentucky, Connecticut, Nevada. So we have explored there and nearby states from contracts : Tennessee, California, New York, Kansas. (edited) 5y
ElizaMarie I‘m a nurse so I work 3 days a week and when he is coming to visit I can try to stack them and we have the whole week off together so we can do road trips 5y
BeansPage @ElizaMarie that is so awesome. Most people would love to have what you do and be able to travel like that. 5y
ElizaMarie I think your job sounds amazing! I love to read. My secret dream job would be owner of a bookstore/cafe that doubles as a wine thing at night. What kinda of books do you review? And do you do this via a blog? Or how does that work? 5y
BeansPage @ElizaMarie I review all kinds of books. Everything from textbooks to fiction and nonfiction. That dream sounds amazing. I would love to own a bar that doubles as a library. Don't know how well that would work but the idea sounds great. And I have a website and I also do my promotions throughout social media platforms. 5y
Melismatic I love dark fairytales. “into the woods” is my fave broadway musical. Those types of stories are a reading challenge all in itself. 🤗 5y
BeansPage @Melismatic oooo 😗 I actually haven't heard of that Broadway musical yet. I will have to look into that. And I agree with you on them being a challenge. Some of these can get pretty nasty and others can get really scary. 5y
Melismatic @TheReadingMermaid oh it‘s great, it‘s from the late 80‘s. Same musical director as Sweeney Todd. 5y

I folded a book. It says "Oma" - granny. And it'll go to my parents, hopefully before Christmas.

I used an edition of Grimms' fairy tales that I've owned for 25 years.

VeganCleopatra I'm always torn about doing this. If I don't like the book I would be much more likely to do it but then do I even want to keep it around then? 🤔🤷‍♀️ good job btw! 6y
Velvetfur Oh my gosh that's fantastic!! I always wondered how that was done, I thought the books were cut rather than folded, so it's great to discover the secret 😊 I like the word 'oma', what language is that? 6y
Elizabeth2 Wow! What a great gift! 6y
julesG @Doughtah Not long. It's my first book. I did a few pages at Ergo therapy. This book took me 4 hours. And the book is still readable, you only need to unfold the pages. @Velvetfur it's German. There is also technique where you cut part of the pages to fold them down. But I chose the folding only option. 6y
julesG @VeganCleopatra You could always fold and gift the book. 😉 6y

Linear I wanted to get one of these for my paper wedding aniversary. Especially because we met in a BN. But their so expensive and I cant bring myself to fold a book.... nor am I this talented. You did a great job! 6y
julesG @Linear Thank you! I was scared at first and sm very grateful that the ergo therapist I see twice a week introduced me to this. It's not very difficult, I'll post a picture of a work in progress. 6y

1. Red Riding-hood has always been a favorite. For some reason I've always liked the fairytales where a wolf eats someone. Also the Willow Wren and the Bear is a good one.
2. Smaug, the Big Bad Wolf, or maybe Grendel
3. 10th Kingdom is great! @cobwebmoth and I watch it at least once a year. I can't hear Saturday Night Fever without seeing Trolls rowing across a lake.
4. @tonyahoswalt

How not to LOVE those? You can dream all day long after reading fairy tales. And the princess is not always the one to be saved. In fact, a lot of them has to go ahead and win back her prince that has been enchanted.
You go girl!

I hit up two book sales today. For $20 I found 5 ARCs, a bunch of other books for me, and 5 middle grade ones to donate to my friend's leadership project. Her group in NC is trying to collect 12,345 books for underprivileged children. They have lots for little kids but not much middle grade. They received zero Harry Potter books so I'm trying to hobble together at least one (mismatched) set by early May.

Grimms Fairy Tales - Arlington Edition

Probably my oldest book (not had the longest) with a publish date between 1880's and 1910. It's quite a bit beat up but I got it for a dime and, in my opinion, the cover is beautiful.

I just guiltily bailed on 3 books that probably didn‘t deserve it in the past few days, which seems to often be my routine following a book I especially enjoyed.....so I should probably just lay off and read some fairytales for a little while until I‘m ready to commit again.
