This was actually pretty boring. I think I‘ll take my Star Wars plots in live-action or cartoon form. Good on those of you who do enjoy this. I just really never started to care about any character but Thrawn.
The Thrawn trilogy was amazing! Made me really love & respect the characters of Thrawn & I was fascinated by his intelligence & coolness!
Started listening to the first book in the Star WarsThrawn Trilogy.
#MarvellousMay
It‘s a great start to a trilogy and I like how it gives more to the mission Thrawn was on in Thrawn: Alliances 5/5 stars. #starwars #thrawn #thrawnascendancy #timothyzahn #chaosrising #skywalker #jedi #chiss #chissascendancy
Just finished the Star Wars: Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn. I thought it was brilliant and I‘m now currently reading the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy. I‘m wondering if it‘s worth reading the legends trilogy? 4.5/5 stars. #starwars #thrawn #darthvader. #empire. #rebels #starwarsrebels #timothyzahn #legends #swcanon
This book was a very interesting look at how Thrawn became..well Thrawn. A small Easter egg tie-in to Alliances. It was nice to see how he became who he is and the background to the Chiss. I almost forgot he‘s technically a villain cuz I‘m rooting for him. He‘s quickly becoming a favorite character. Recommend.
I was really looking forward to diving into the Thrawn trilogy and the first book was really good. I throughly enjoyed it. Thrawn along with his translator Vanto are learning the ins and outs of the Empire's navy and it's politics, while Thrawn has some hidden agenda of his own.
My husband found a few books for himself too - he's been in a reading slump for a few years, so I'm hopeful this helps pull him out of it!
I am posting one book (or series) per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 293

🎧 ok upon completion ... I loved it!!
I‘m not a huge Star Wars fan. I love movies 4-6 ... mostly 5 ... but I‘m in a popcorny sci-fi kinda mood & I love cartoons ... queue Star Wars Rebels. Great sci-fi cartoon! I‘m almost through season 3 & it hasn‘t let me down. Thrawn shows up in Season 3.
Thrawn is a cold hearted bad guy. The worst. This is his origin story. It‘s good. I enjoyed it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎧 I listened to this book for over 2 hours before I thought, uh ... Thrawn might be a bad guy 🥸 yeahp ... I had to go back & start the book over with an entirely different POV! 🤬 😆 I‘m TERRIBLE with names & I didn‘t realize who he was for quite a while! I only have 1 tiny complaint ... the audiobook has an occasional annoying ringing sound in the background & there‘s an alien that‘s voice made my ears bleed. I‘m loving this origin story 👍🏼
DARNIT Mandalorian! 😫 Now what?! I need more! 😭 I haven‘t listened to a Star Wars book since pre-Audible & I really wasn‘t impressed. Well thank you Libby ... these 2 look interesting ... Star Wars ... we shall see ...
I'm not sure this one was for me. The Audio Performance was excellent, but I found the writing to be rather weak? Could just be that it's not meant for adults-- this may have played better for me if I was a child or teen, or if I was already invested in the Thrawn character from the Legends series. The thing that made me stick this out was the audio performance, absolutely.
Per usual, Timothy Zahn and Thrawn manage to drag me into a story that I cannot draw away from until I‘ve finished it. I absolutely loved the insight into the Chiss Ascendancy through Thrawn, Ar‘alani, Thalias, Che‘ri, and many others. Excited to see where this trilogy goes especially with Star Wars: Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good coming later this year.
I'm conflicted about going back and reading Zahn's original Thrawn trilogy since they are no longer canon, but he is such a compelling character! Marc Thompson does amazing narration. I'm not a fan of the alternating timelines (my big issue with Alliances), but this is a solid start to Thrawn's origins.
Am I staying in bed all day to read a new Star Wars novel?
You bet your best biscuits I am! 😁
It‘s Saturday morning with Thrawn as my son and I continue to read and discuss Star Wars books and comics. Broken record here but I have to say, once again, how much fun it is and how much joy it brings me that my 14 year-old likes to read and talk books with me! It‘s a wonderful thing.
I‘m not usually a fan of villain stories, but I was desperately in the mood for a Star Wars audiobook so picked this one. It was fascinating seeing the origins of Thrawn especially if you‘ve read some of the old canon where he‘s such a huge threat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Absolutely loved Thrawn by Timothy Zahn. I was a fan of his Thrawn trilogy and Hand of Thrawn duology from the early 90s, and this new adaptation of Thrawn certainly doesn‘t disappoint! Thrawn‘s cunning and tactical wit and rise to power are ever present as well as an intriguing support cast of characters like Vanto, Pryce, and, of course, Tarkin. The timeline is set after Revenge of the Sith, which works quite well! Never a dull moment for me!
I loved it! It was more focused on giving insight to the character than it was creating an intriguing plot though. Still a great read.
My first Star Wars audiobook and I am in love. The sound effects and music add so much to the story! There was a lot packed into this story but overall it was fun and enjoyable!
A very good prequel Star Wars Rebels, and an excellent introduction to Thrawn. Despite every intention, I never read Zahn's original Thrawn trilogy, but I enjoyed this very much. Book two is on its way!
I like Star Wars. I enjoyed Thrawn. The worlds and characters belong in the Star Wars mythos, and the Imperial perspective linked the prequel and original trilogies well. I wish the plot were stronger and the ending less rushed.
Love Thrawn and this would've been a solid 4 stars if Arihnda Pyrce's story didn't annoy the shit out of me
Gonna hop, skip into the galaxy far, far away and backtrack some from the Extended Universe .... In plain English: I'm reading Thrawn 😄

Day 6 of #LiteraryLuck month is about “Unique Character Names,” and out of the books I‘ve read, the most interesting of them would be Thrawn... Grand Admiral Thrawn. The name is actually short for Mitth'raw'nuruodo. He‘s probably the most well-known character created by author Timothy Zahn.
Thrawn! So what did everyone think? If you were able to get a copy that is (sorry you couldn‘t @DivaDiane )
If you read the original “legend” books how does Zahn‘s new Thrawn compare? If you watched Star Wars Rebels how did you like his introduction in this book & that of Arihnda Pryce?

I am so glad that Thrawn is now official canon & Timothy Zahn can write about him again.
Full review on the blog today: https://deannareadsbooks.blogspot.com/2018/09/review-star-wars-thrawn-by-timothy...
I'm hooked. This book dives into an awesome character and gives amazing insight to the Empire's political and military worlds. I love all the layers I'm finding in the book that you just don't get in the movies. Also this has amazing character development and I cannot wait to read the others. #starwars #scifi
It‘s well written but MY GOD is it boring as hell. The second one has Padme and that is the only reason I‘m continuing with this series
It's time for the #24in48 #Hour42 challenge! Here are my #ActualBookends on my sci-fi/fantasy shelves.
Time read: 22h 5m
@24in48
Well. I was having a tea break from the #24in48 #readathon, scrolling through #audible for books to spend my 2credits on and fell asleep! Damnit. Hopefully I‘ll have a 2nd Wind now & power on through till sunrise(its 3am Sydney time)At least I got 2 audiobooks before crashing, the tagged book is the 1st in the Star Wars: Thrawn series, set after the events of The Last Jedi. Plus I picked up ACOTAR. So,plan is read till sunup then audiobook until 💤
Honestly, I‘m kind of divided. Loved the story, but that might be just because I‘m a Star Wars kid. Thrawn‘s character could have benefited from some throwbacks and character ark. I‘d love to read more about the Chiss Ascendancy though.
#StarWarsBuddyRead
We probably won‘t get to Thrawn until early next year, but if any of you are planning ahead and want to take advantage of the sale, I‘ll just put this here.
I hate to be “that guy” but this book was good, not great. The first 70% was tremendous but then the book just kept going... and going... and going... I felt like an ending was never going to surface but when it did the writing got a bit convoluted. Good book but not as great as original trilogy. Definitely needed to be trimmed down by about 40 pages.
Brilliant, reads like a Sherlock Holmes novel but about battle strategy. I dare say surpasses Enders game
I should not have bought Thrawn yet. Sure, I told my sister that she HAD to read the original trilogy when she mentioned it. But, I have so many other books waiting to be read. His blue smirking face and red eyes were mocking me when I walked by though. What was I supposed to do? I shall leave him wrapped in his bag until I get around to him. That should teach his smirking self a lesson.
This is a prequel and I loved seeing how he rises up through the ranks of the Empire. If you have read Heir to the Empire and the rest then this one is excellent. If you haven‘t read these books and you love Star Wars then READ THESE BOOKS! #starwars #timothyzahn
I was thrilled to see that my favorite EU villain would be recanonized and Timothy Zahn resurrected him perfectly. This book rekindled my love of Star Wars and I have grown very interested in other books such as Bloodline, Catalyst, and Leih: Princess of Alderaan. I am still sore that the EU had to be rebooted, but having Thrawn brought back has led me to forgive the franchise and love it once again.
4/5 The beginning was a little slow, but after it got going the book was informative and connected several of the Star Wars series. You can tell why Timothy Zahn was asked to be a part of the Star Wars Rebels series and I felt the connection to the Clone Wars through the insightful introductions of each chapter. Don't forget to read the epilogue for a mini happy ending.
✨I've spent the last hour or so staring at this debating on adding more books, swapping out some, ect.. But.. I think this will be my haul for the month (hopefully). I have to limit myself this year, but when I'm getting such good deals, it's hard not to just keep going and going. I fall right into the marketing schemes. 🤔
✨One of the books is a pre-order for my boyfriend(Thrawn: Alliances), but I can't wait to get them a post a haul. 😆😄📚
