Pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book! Read it somewhat randomly (I‘m not that deliberate in how I choose books...) and it was absolutely captivating! The plot kept me guessing almost until the end, and Finn‘s sense of place is magical. I highly recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This wasn‘t super on my radar but thought I‘d listen on audio since there was no wait on Libby. And I am so glad I did! I basically talked about this book to everyone I know. It was so good! Narration was amazing, the story was amazing, I really can‘t recommend it enough. A fascinating story, especially for someone that lives in a desert!

Had the pleasure of meeting both of these authors this week for a debut author event at our local bookstore. It was wonderful to hear from them! Bryan Washington is honest so sweet and genius and Kali Fajardo-Anstine gave me a hug! So lucky to be able to go to events like these. Also, both of these books were wonderful! Short stories are my new bread and butter.

Recently finished this on audio and kindle. I enjoyed it overall but found the authors argument against autonomy for those who are suffering acute crisis very interesting. As a lawyer it‘s an interesting take on a long-standing legal concept. Overall a good read though!

Amazing set of YA short stories! At the Tucson Book Festival a number of writers mentioned they were currently reading this book, so I had to pick it up. I thoroughly enjoyed each story, and would definitely recommend! Also loved the cover art. Since life has been so busy lately, short stories have really been the perfect thing.

Hello Litsy!!! I apologize for my long absence. Holidays, work and a new side hustle I started have taken their toll. But I knew I had to post today because I just finished this amazing book of short stories. Run, don‘t walk to your bookstore and get yourself a copy. The book was at times laugh out loud funny, gut wrenching, incredibly sad and profound. I would give this book as many stars as I could.

This book was utterly amazing. It spoke to my soul in such a visceral way. I was lucky enough to meet the author in Phoenix earlier this week and was able to tell him how much this book meant to me. I highly highly recommend these stories to basically everyone.

Birthday haul!!!! My Dad got me these books I‘ve been wanting. Claire Fuller is a must buy for me, I have LOVED her last two books. The All the Books episode where they talked about the Best American Food Writing made me want to buy it immediately. And I get to meet R.O. Kwon in about a month when she visits my local bookstore! Pretty pumped for all.

I LOVED this book! Been on my TBR forever I finally read it in anticipation of the movie. I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed the world building, the characters, just everything about it. Can‘t wait to read the others! As a side note though, it seems the movie has changed the female leads appearance quite a bit, which angers me. The scar on her face is much more significant in the book and it‘s clear they wanted her “prettier” for the movie. 😑

My Boston Bookhaul!!! I went on a short vacation to Boston to see Hamilton and my best friends. I‘ve been working on reducing my book collection (recently got rid of maybe 40+ books?) and told myself NOT to buy any on my trip. But.... I couldn‘t help myself! I was left alone for a few hours and this happened. Excited for all the true crime!

Finished this one up on a flight to Boston. I felt a bit so so about it but I really loved the ending. The villain was much more complicated than other marvel stories. I am hoping for a sequel though! I feel like I had a lot of questions...

Appropriate I finished this book set in SF and Phoenix on a flight from Phoenix to SF! This is Mohr‘s first novel. Definitely stranger than his latest but I still very much enjoyed it. His writing is beautiful and painful. His portrayal of child abuse and neglect was so gut wrenching but felt very accurate and real. If you‘re up for an intense book I‘d recommend it.

Felt very meh about this one. I read it for my book club and honestly wouldn‘t have finished it if it weren‘t for that. That being said I liked the plot and the idea behind the story, but just not how it was carried out. Also the love story was terrible.

I‘ve read a lot of self help, memoir, minimalist, etc. books but for some reason this one really stuck with me. I hate admitting it but I have an unhealthy relationship with shopping, much like the author of this book. I‘ve recently realized that I have to drastically change my spending habits before it‘s too late and this book helped me think about some of the “why” that goes into my spending. I also loved hearing her narrate it!

Almost forgot but made it just on time, thanks to prime! My #justabookswap book will get there Friday! I went out on a limb with this one and picked one of my favorite reads from last year. I hope my match likes it! 🤞🏽🤞🏽💓📚

Read this pretty quickly, it‘s been on my Kindle TBR for a while. It was entertaining but I didn‘t love the book. Felt like a complicated topic for how it was treated but also maybe that was the point- to show how useless these acts of violence are. I have to say though I didn‘t love the characters, and I didn‘t enjoy the ending either.

I‘ve seen some so-so reviews for this book but I did enjoy it. It was very reminiscent of other Drawn + Quarterly publications. Not a lot of action, deep introspection with the characters. The plot was very interesting to me, what would the fallout be in such a situation? It felt real and honest and sort of sad and drawn out- much like life can be. Glad I picked it up.

I‘ve had this for at least a year and hadn‘t picked it up yet! So glad I did. It wasn‘t my favorite but I really enjoyed the story and development of Amadeus. In some of the later comics he is portrayed as a teen which I feel like doesn‘t mesh with this issue but maybe that‘s just me. Also She Hulk is in this one a lot and I love She Hulk.

This book was such a punch to my soul. A heart breaking story of loving yourself and your family, and when those two are at total odds. Conley‘s experiences are horrifying and incredibly sad. Conley comes from a part of the US I do not know a lot about, and it was both fascinating and incredibly depressing to hear about his upbringing. Despite its intense subject matter I would definitely recommend this book.

Just picked this up on clearance at Half Price Books! Doesn‘t even look like it was read! Mostly got excited it was set in New Mexico 🌵 love the southwest! Has anyone read it?? Seems like a short and interesting read!

More Star Wars audio fun! I loved the scenes in The Last Jedi that took place in Canto Bight. It was such an interesting planet and City with such characters! This collection did not disappoint. I loved all the stories and hearing how they connected. It was a treat to hear from parts of the Star Wars universe unrelated to the characters we usually hear about. Also the audio was of course wonderful- the voices were great!

Small library haul today! I saw Hey Ladies in a bookstore and immediately put a hold on it! It‘s quasi epistolary which I am excited for. I heard some buzz on Little Fish and I‘m pretty excited to read it! #litsyloveslibraries

So I cheated a bit on my #starwarsbuddyread folks! I had been waiting on the hold for this one I‘ll probably just do a Re-read when it comes up because I LOVED it. This was a fascinating angle into distant parts of the galaxy and a character we know very little about. Also gave us some super interesting glimpses into the First Order. Absolutely loved and is one of my top Star Wars books!

Finished this amazing story earlier this week. Made me realize I sadly do not know that much about the Vietnam war, so I hope to change that soon. Amazing story, truly eye-opening. I appreciate the chance to read it and learn from it. I learned a lot of the history and also the human experience and connection that comes with it.

I really enjoyed this one! While it wasn‘t my favorite I loved seeing old characters in a setting and time we didn‘t see in the movies. I also didn‘t know Ahsoka‘s character until now and enjoyed getting to know her. I felt a bit like it wasn‘t 100% clear why she was so invested in Ryedah (sp), but I bought into it. I liked the setting of the planet and it felt very real in Johnston‘s descriptions. #starwarsbuddyread

Listened to this quick audiobook while driving to a very hygge weekend with a good friend!!! There‘s a lot I won‘t use (strangely we‘ve no use for wool socks and fire in the Sonoran desert 🌵) but a lot that I will. A good reminder to love the little things, but most of all I loved the parts about loving your friends!

Finished this on my kindle this AM! I‘m trying to focus my reading on all the books being made into movies/ tv shows so I‘m all caught up. I really enjoyed this start to the Darkest minds books! Loved the characters, and the plot. Felt a bit predictable but a lot of YA is. Also I wanted to reach into the book and tell Ruby to do the opposite of what she was doing!!!! But also that happens to me a lot... can‘t wait for the movie!

I listened to this because I saw such rave reviews on here and Goodreads! I would have to say for me it was just OK. I didn‘t LOVE it, and I had to speed it up to nearly 2x cause I was getting bored of the story and characters. The beginning and ending were most interesting, I think because they were the most action packed. I own the next two and I am not sure if they are for me. The ending really got better though, so we shall see!

Why did I wait so long to read this?!! SO fun!!!!! I loved nearly everything about this book, up until the very end. I think I‘m going to have to read the next books in the series, I‘m dying to know what happens to everyone! I loved all the characters, even the ones we are supposed to hate. Highly recommend!

Depressing panel from this quick little biography of John James Audubon. He definitely wanted to capture the natural world before it changed! I thought this line of his was particularly poignant since it is likely how many thought of change in those times.

I realized I never made my post for #StarWarsBuddyRead! But I loved this book so much. First I thought it was amazing to do a book about Leia when she‘s not young, we need more badass women in their 40s/50s (not sure how old she is). I also loved all the characters. I‘d read a book solely about each one of them. I think my favorite was Ransolm, the author did an amazing job with him and I felt exactly how Leia did. Five stars for sure!
