I highlighted this quote from the tagged book. The best way to describe this book is that it‘s intense and heartbreaking to read. I‘ve read books set during WWII but not anything like this book. This book showed the uglier side of WWII whereas other fiction books I‘ve read set during WWII didn‘t focus on the war as much and they were never set in Italy. This one is based on a true story so this book is different.

Here‘s my progress on this book. I‘m almost finished. I have 2 hrs left. I was listening to the audiobook and I felt like I had to stop because it was too much. I‘m enjoying the book but it‘s intense. I‘ve been listening to this book a little bit and then stopping because sometimes, it‘s too much and that seems to help. It‘s also a long book so I knew it would take me a while to read it. After this, I want to read books that are not so intense.

Here‘s my June TBR so far. I like using this tracker every month. I add a few books and set up the acronym/color coding system and then all month, I just start adding books that I‘m reading or what I want to read. I‘ve already finished the first short story for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong and I‘ve already started the tagged book. I made more progress in the audiobook tonight. I have 2 hrs left of the book now.

Today, I‘m sharing my #readyourkindle list for June. It‘s the same list. The only difference is that I‘ve added 7 more books to this list. I only have 1 mood read left because I started reading Beneath A Scarlet Sky for that one but I will finish reading it this month. I have 1 ebook on this list that would be a perfect book to read for Father‘s Day because it has a single dad. I don‘t have a dad anymore. He passed away in February 2014.

For the #20in4 readathon, I made progress in this book but I‘m not going to finish before the end of May. I thought I was going to finish it tonight but that‘s okay. I have the ebook on my Kindle and it‘s 500 pages. I chose this book for a mood reading prompt on my #readyourkindle list. It looks like I‘ll be finishing this book in June. I am enjoying it. It‘s just intense and long. I didn‘t realize this book would be so intense.

I just started this book. It‘s good so far.

One of the best books I've read in the past few years! This was so good it was hard to put down and I usually avoid stories of the world war II! I'm so glad I decided to pick this one! This will break your faith in humanity at the same time as it builds it up again and make you cry... If you haven't read this one yet you DEFINITELY should!

The tagged book, Beneath A Scarlett Sky, I think would make a great movies. The rights have been sold to a studio. However, that doesn't mean a movie will be made.

These are all my new historical fiction books bought from book fair. All of these were kind of impulse buys. 😊

I'm sure I should have liked this more than I did. I know a bunch of people who need to read this, to remember what the Nazis were like, but other than that, I thought it a little bit of a slog. But worth the slog.

This book was an amazing story about a boy named Pino during WWII in Italy. Based on a real-life Pino, I am so happy Sullivan told this story. I felt like I gained a whole knew perspective of WWII and Italy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Always up for a good read on the fall of Hitler and the Nazi's....
This was a touching story about young hero, who claims he was not, but truly was. ❤️ Pino Lella.

Very good! It's based on a true story. It zooms in on a portion of WW2 where Pino Lella helps Jews to freedom, becomes a spy for the Parisians, and meets the love of his life. I did not expect anything.

What a fantastic book. I've read quite a number of books on the topic of WWII, but this book ranks right up there with the best on the topic.
Highly, highly recommend!

While I did not enjoy this as much as the other Holocaust books, I'd still recommend this as a good read. Also since it's based on a true story, it deserves extra brownie points!!

I've been wanting to read this book for a long time!

I couldn't decide which of the two books I wanted to choose. So I chose both. One, The English Patent, is fiction and the other, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is based on a true story. They are both set during WWII and the characters are what make the stories. They are also two of my favorite WWII historical fiction books.

A good book! Pino Lella was an extraordinary young man thrown into the war. How he survived and the incredible risks he took forever changed not just his future but the world. It left its mark on me. Much respect!!!

3.5 ⭐️ The story is captivating, though the writing style wasn‘t for me. The last 20 pages were the most interesting to me and I get all the enthusiasm about this book.

This is a pick with reservations. It‘s historical fiction based on the real-life exploits of Pino Lello, who served as a spy in Italy during WWII. How much is actually true is a matter of debate. In any case, my issue was with the writing. It was ...OK. Too dramatic and overwrought for my taste. And it could have stood for a more thorough editing job. The author is a part of James Patterson‘s “stable. Read into that what you will.

It‘s 6 pm on a Saturday and I‘m already in comfy PJs on the couch with a stack of books. Some people might pity me for my less-than-exciting nightlife. I, however, actually feel sorry for THEM. My books and I are doing just fine, thanks.

A very well written book based on a true story of a young man during WW2 in Italy. His experiences during wartime as he becomes a frontman for a Nazi General. Very good. Interesting.

This is a historical fiction based on true story of Pino Lella. A young Italian who initially helps Jews to escape Switzerland by taking them through Alps, joins Nazis army but as a spy. It‘s a thrilling story with love, loss, pain,humility, courage, defeat & victory. True events makes it all the more heartbreaking. Worth reading for all #historicalfiction lovers. 4🌟

This book was incredible. It was the story of a young man during WW2 doing his best to do right in the world. It is a story that I will carry with me and think of often.

Not my usual go-to for genre but this is very good!
