I‘ve read about ten historical fiction books this year, but so far, this one is my favorite!
Today‘s thrifts haul for $3.50
Did anyone else find this book slow at first? Does it get better?

Reading the news this morning has put my soul in a funk. Then I read this paragraph and it seemed so fitting for the current trajectory of our country.
If we don‘t learn from the past, we‘re doomed to repeat it.
Had to bail on this one. I read through Chapter 5 and just couldn‘t get into it.

It‘s been a minute since I shared a #thriftstack of books I found at local thrift stores. We have several different thrift chains here in Huntsville that carry a large assortment of really good books, for dirt cheap! Those Francine Rivers books I purchased for 75 cents each!
I told myself no more books until I read the others, but it would have been wrong of me to just leave them there 😉

Started #theguernseyliteraryandpotatopeelsociety last night and I‘m already struggling to put it down. Loving this one!
I love FR‘s books, but this was a huge disappointment. The feminist tone in this story is extremely repetitive. I get it, you don‘t want a man telling you what to do or how to do it. Blah, blah, blah. When I devote my time to reading a book, I want to end it feeling all the emotions; feeling like I was with the characters and the experience left me wanting more. Today, the only thing I want is to get my money back from Barnes and Noble
I finished up “The Huntress” and now I don‘t know which to read next. I‘ve read mixed reviews on “A Flicker in the Dark”. Help a girl choose!

I wrapped up “The Book of Names” last night. Such a beautifully written novel. Now, I‘m on to my next read but a bit conflicted; which would you read first, The Alice Network or The Huntress?

Started this one last night. I‘ve heard so many good things about it!
Page 237. This book wasn‘t for me. I understand the Great Depression was just that, depressing. However, I feel like Kristin Hannah took everything unfortunate thing that could happen to one person/one family and scattered the events throughout thirty-six chapters. I felt like bailing yesterday and decided I‘d finish what I started. Loreda‘s last outburst sealed the deal. There is no depth to the characters, aside from Elsa. I can‘t. I‘m out ✌🏼

This book was incredibly moving, I literally sobbed through the last two chapters. There isn‘t anything I didn‘t like about it. Never, at any point did I feel bored, or like the story was lagging. This book is beyond beautiful and brilliantly written. If you‘re a lover of historical fiction novels, this is YOUR book! The story is heartbreakingly heavy, but worth it! It‘s definitely one that will stay with you forever. #thenightingale
This book. This book has pulled at every heart string I have. This book has caused the flood gates to open. This book has given me a deeper understanding of what sacrifice looked like 80 years ago. This book I‘ve had to stop reading three different times because I was so overcome with emotions. This book is one that I feel is going to stay with me forever.
I‘m so excited to start this one!
