If you like your time travel suspense stories you‘ll like this one. Has a little romance. A whole lot of whodunit. This is book one of the Kendra Donovan series. This will be a series I‘ll work on through the summer months that‘s for sure.
@KateReadsYA is having a book giveaway! I would love to see this tagged book as a movie- I love period dramas and would love to see the scenes and costumes along with the series!
1. I‘m fascinated by history, but I don‘t know if I‘d want to live there! So, I‘d want to visit the future and see if we actually get out of this mess.
2. The tagged book is a fun series opener about an FBI agent who gets transported to the past and solves a murder.

@sprainedbrain these are not cozy mysteries but for me they are go to series that I love, and can be formulaic, have a little will they/won‘t they and I can‘t wait for the next book. I have not read After Cilmeri in years- but it‘s up there with the other two. @Laughterhp these are some go to series for me.
#bookspinbingo #bookspin Here is my Sept bingo board - only 2 bingos but lots cleared off. @TheAromaofBooks
Glad to start a fresh list tomorrow!
I powered through this audiobook! Pure escapist fun! Love the main character, Kendra Donovan. Perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon and Deanna Raybourn.
Here are a few possibilities for next month. #FebruaryTBR. This does not include some buddy reads I want to participate in.
I probably should have know a mystery with an FBI profiler thrown back in time who must stop a serial killer without all of the modern crime fighting aids she‘s used to would be too gory for me. That‘s on me. But the historical anachronisms and the way that our former prodigy acts incredibly stupidly to move the plot along is on the author. The prologue was pretty grim for cowardly me but so far I‘m doing okay with the rest of it. Another for my self-imposed October mystery reading.
#3books I borrowed from the library recently. I hope to get to these before my time is up. @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
4.5⭐️ While it took me a while to get into the book, I really enjoyed it. I think a large part of it was I had just come off of watching another binge watching of the 1995 Pride & Prejudice mini-series. I really liked Kendra and thought she was a strong character and that the world that Kendra had landed in believable. #ebook #timetravel #historicalfiction #fiction #bookstagram #bookreview #2020
#thoughtfulthursday Friday edition 🤣 thanks @Mitch for this opportunity to jump in Litsy and procrastinate some work 🎉🥳🥰
1. Tagged is one favorite but I have many series I Love.
2. When I just can‘t put it down and I have to buy it for my friends.
3. Honestly, Magic is everywhere. I found it in random events that happened when they were most needed.
This was an entertaining distraction! It felt a bit like Outlander (not as good, mind you) but instead of her being a nurse she's a modern day FBI profiler who finds herself back in time, 1815 to be precise, helping to profile a serial killer before that was even a thing. Not sure what it is about time travel that hooks me, haha. Pretty solid for an impulse library pick - and I love the cover art! I'll continue with the series at some point 👏🏽
Genres: Science Fiction, Mystery, Historical Fiction, Fantasy Fiction
Started: Nov. 20th, 2019
Completed: Nov. 30th, 2019
How did you choose the book: Is it a series of Julie McElwain books.
Summary: 1815, to be exact Mistaken for a lady's maid hired to help with weekend guests, Kendra is forced to quickly adapt to the time period until she can figure out how she got there; and, more importantly, how to get back home.
So, definitely not going to make 24 hours before Monday. BUT. I‘ve never done one of these before. And I‘m doing much better than I thought I was going to! 😊
#TeamSlaughter #Scarathlon #24B4Monday @Clwojick 10 points for finishing tagged book for a theme read + 2 for during #readathon + 1 participation (281 total)

Thank you sooooooo much @BookwormAHN !! It looks super interesting ❤ Loved the #justabookswap ,Thanks @TheBookKeepers
This one‘s tricky. I really liked it, read it quickly, and have the next one already checked out from the library. But it was annoying in a lot of ways. (An absurd backstory and REALLY bad attempts at writing dialect come to mind.) But I like time travel novels in general, which by nature requires a certain tolerance for nonsense. I‘m hoping that the next in the series was written with a little more finesse, but prob not. I will read it anyway.
This was a fun read. The audiobook was well read but I kind of wish I could have just plowed through at my own speed. The main character was a little rough but relatable. I‘m going to check out the next in the series.
An FBI agent lost in time. I don‘t usually start series books but I think I might give the second one a try. There was a lot included in the story but it was a good world building book and a decent mystery. #2018christyread
This book was an impulse read for me after bailing on another book and I am so glad I picked it! Time travel has always been a favorite of mine and the 1800‘s another so instantly I knew its right up my alley. Not only the time travel but the characters are also amazing too and I loved every second of it and am going to impatiently wait for my holds on the second and third books. 5/5⭐️
I enjoyed this book. Another perfect read for a not feeling good day. Especially if you like time travel and historical fiction.
I originally chose this because of the pretty cover (I mean look at it 😍) but enjoyed it so much more than I expected! The present day scenes felt a little obligatory but the dialogue and mystery were SO good. I didn't see that twist coming until it hit! Definitely Dr. Who meets CSI meets Downton Abbey. I'll be reading the next one for sure!

"Language, she reflected ruefully, was a lot like a living organism: words were born, they thrived, sometimes died or evolved into new words, new meanings."
"For a horrifying moment, she envisioned being a lady's maid for days, weeks....years.
No fucking way."
????
6 chapters into this book and there's been no sign of any wibbly wobbly, timey wimey action yet....sigh. Patience is not my virtue! ⏰ ⏰ ⏰
Here is my #junelineup 📚 Anyone read these, liked or did not care for, want to read yourself?

2 First Impressions 1 Chapter in...
1. This cover is gorgeous 😍
2. Good, freaky first chapter starting from the villain's POV!

In this time travel murder mystery, Kendra Donovan is a brilliant FBI agent. After a raid goes wrong, she is determined to deliver justice to the man who betrayed her team. But she stumbles into a hidden stairway and emerges in 1815. Before she can figure out how to return to her own time, the body of a brutally murdered young woman washes up on the river‘s edge. Kendra can‘t resist hunting for the killer.
Fast-paced plot that kept me guessing.
@Kimberlone pushed me to read this because it has some of my favorite tropes: time travel, historical, and romance! It was enjoyable, but Kendra violates the number one rule of time travel all the fraking time; try not to constantly bring attention to being out of time. I suppose at least it is the 19th century so she can't be accused of witchcraft like Claire. In fact Claire could give her some pointers! #timetravel #romancy #outlander #1800s
FBI agent Kendra Donavan, inexplicably travels back in time to the year 1815, and finds herself heading an investigation for a serial killer.
This book was Pride and Prejudice, meets Criminal Minds and Doctor Who. Very well written, fast paced.

So far Spring Break has been rainy and cold, thankful for local community center. Kids can burn of energy at the pool and Mama gets some time to read.
A fun time travel mystery with a few too many story flaws to totally work for me. My main hesitation is in the main character who is supposed to be a genius but is incapable of trying to fit in so she can make her own life easier until she gets home to her own time. So she is either arrogant or just stupid - both possibilities annoy me.
Back to work tomorrow for me, which means one last vacation night to enjoy! Started this one yesterday as my first pick of 2018...it came to me in my #halloweengoespostal package if I remember correctly! I am joining in the #unreadshelfproject over on Instagram to try to get my TBR list waaaaay down this year. This is one of many reading goals of mine this year—what are yours?
Happy New Year, Littens...I‘ve missed you!
I really enjoyed this audiobook. I‘m lousy at figuring out who‘s sone it so I am probably not a good judge but I didn‘t know who did it until close to the end. The voice talent was great and I‘m definitely on board with the next book! #audiobooks make me happy too!
This book definitely sucked me in and was, especially toward the end, suspenseful, but there were just too many things attacking my suspension of disbelief and one glaring inconsistency that I can't let go.
