This is not a bad book, it‘s just the humor is not clicking for me. It doesn‘t help that I have been reading Dungeon Crawler Carl which is infinitely funnier. So #hailthebail
A book off my #roll100 off the #tbr

This was so freaking good. It is basically a book version of a D&D campaign, so I couldn't resist making the themed photo. It is both hilarious, and heartbreaking. And of course action packed as expected. When I thought I knew what might happen next, I was proved wrong. Clearly the author has played the game. You don't need to be a player to enjoy this, but it doesn't hurt. I highly recommend this one and will definitely read this author again.
So far this is a fun read. I got this outdoor table at a discount due to the rub mark. I'm thinking about distressing it even more and adding handles in the back to make it a shield. Maybe even painting a sigil on it. Just for fun. It would be very D&D fashion.
Picked this book up because it was the December pick for #swordandlaserpodcast. I had never heard of this book before. It was pretty good. A retired group of guys get back together to save their band mates daughter. There is a lot of action, fighting and exploring and traveling to different parts of this world. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
Here's hoping I finish this one tonight. It has been a quick read (when I actually pick it up) but I just haven't felt like reading lately. I have been fighting off the round of sickness...oh the joys of working in a school. Break can't come soon enough because my body needs a break so I can finally kick this!!
Fun!
Retired group of mercenaries comes together again to help one member in freeing his daughter who's in a city under siege.
Shenanigans, weird and wyld monsters, injuries, burials, innuendos, puns, magical hats and so much more.
Enjoyed the writing, loved the dialogues (from absurd banter to deep conversations) and characters.

🎧 SO many quotable hilarious lines!! This is a fun book.
There‘s 80‘s rep!
There‘s a feel of a DND quest … owlbear!
The band is past its prime but they have a daughter to save!
If you‘ve ever thought you‘re past your prime … or that your parents are … and you enjoy a fast-moving quest with some swearing and childish behavior … and can laugh at all of these things … get a copy of this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4
My sweet little Gus loves the kindle. It leaves plenty of lap room and one hand free for pats and belly rubs. Nearly done with Kings of the Wyld, and it's been a rollicking good time. I've got book two on hold on audio, and I'm hoping it'll come through soon.
I came across this one quite by accident when someone said it was a fantasy novel about aged adventurers that moan as much about their joints and digestion as they do about monsters and gold. That's a fair assessment of it. I liked it, it was fun and took a different spin on the standard fantasy retrieval trope. It was well worth the read. I am still on the fence about the sequel for Reasons... We'll see.
Fun 'getting the band back together' story. One of the guys (all retired) finds out his daughter is at risk as she'd followed in Daddy's footsteps, and gone off hunting demons in the wyld. The guys go after her to save little Rosy.
What happens when your old and you need to go on a rescue mission??? Well here‘s a great read for that exact adventure. Loved this and all the twist and turns it provided … now I have to see if there‘s other books by this author 🤗 @shanaqui great read 🤗
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This was a different spin on fantasy and really fun. I would say it‘s high on the comedy scale, and the banter between these middle-aged retired characters is smooth and entertaining. I love the way the mercenary bands were treated on a rockstar level, giving the word “band” an entire different meaning in fantasy! Highly recommend! It was adventurous and a quick read. #kingsofthewyld #fantasy
5⭐⚔️ absolutely loved this book! It took me a while to get through but boy, the characters in this are like old friends now, if you like classic fantasy tropes and rock start references then Kings of the Wyld is for you☝🏻 I can't wait for the next one ❤️
"without incident, until the clowns attacked", sorry for the weird formatting, the epub is misbehaving too
Damn this was both FUN, HILARIOUS, and absolutely heart breaking in parts. For readers who like to play DandD while blasting Led Zeppelin, this one's for you.
Books that I‘d like to read soon if my reading slump ever ends...
I‘m definitely not panicking about being in a reading slump...
What an absolutely riotously witty, crude, hilarious novel. My boyfriend had read me pieces as he read it and kept recommending it to me. The audiobook on audible was very well done. Excellent book, and I highly recommend it to anyone with a pulse that likes fantasy, and to laugh.
Nothing like the postie ringing the doorbell *just* as you are about to step into the shower... thank goodness for dressing gowns!
This is my first tiktok inspired book purchase...
Such a good book. Characters are all fun and interesting. Love how they make a sword and shield story about fighting monsters into rockstar type bands. Lots of action.
This was an absolute blast! Great characters, great character work by the author to get you the reader to feel like you've been with these guys for ages. Super realistic dialog that will have you laughing or tearing up in equal parts. As a Wheel of Time fan, this book makes me think of the author asking "What if I wanted to do the last battle but without 13 books before it?" While the payoff is not as great, it still delivers.
I've started reading this one and am just impressed again and again by the well-written dialogue here. Not very far into it and already really enjoying this book.
This is just the book I need right now. Super funny at times, bloody enough at others, and even gets you in forge feels.
I really enjoyed this mash up between fantasy and hard rock bands. This was filled with humor but also notes of something deeper like the relationship between generations and the way people see themselves. Overall a great read.

I‘m really enjoying Kings of the Wyld. Spending a lazy Sunday reading with both Sierra and Simon.

I had a slow for me reading week and only finished my #DoubleSpin book, Mirage, and The Left Hand of Darkness. I also didn't start my forecast choice of The Wandering Fire because I chose Kings of the Wyld instead.
#WeeklyForecast
I plan to finish Kings of the Wyld this week and hopefully start Chilling Effect when that's done. Then maybe I'll be more in the mood for more of the Fionavar Tapestry later.
'Kings of the Wyld is a solid debut and a kick ass, heavy metal saga of what we'll do and what we'll endure for those we care about.'

📖 Kings of the Wyld || Nicholas Eames
One of my favorite books I read this year. It‘s fun and heartfelt, and the male characters aren‘t afraid to express their love for their friends. If you like rpg‘s like D&D, you‘ll probably find the book enjoyable like I did.
5/5
I've gone through a terrible reading slump since moving and I don't think I'm entirely out of it. But here goes nothing...
Ahhh I woke up to this post by the Author of my favorite book, thanking his readers for loving his books and in his collage of photos he included mine! (He has responded to my review posts about his books too, he seriously is the best) It‘s so exciting to be seen by your favorite author! I tried to share this with my sisters & they ignored me :/ (read the message and then changed the subject) I just want to share how happy this made me
I haven't been reading because I'm in the middle of a big move, but this is my "current read." It's really good and I wish I had the time to devote to it! It's been over a week since I've opened a book.
We are in the middle of moving over state lines and I'm too nervous to read a hardcover (I'm afraid I'll forget the dust jacket since I remove it when I read). Since this book (and book 2 by Nicholas Eames) is the only paperback I have, I'm going to start it. ⚔️
Have you read it? What did you think?

@AkashaVampie have you been tagged yet? I‘m days late to this haha. If you have sorry!
As we all know, I am so inlove with this book. And I have been yelling at people left and right to read it and FINALLY an old friend of mine picked it up (i honestly had no idea he was a reader) and he LOVES IT! We have been chatting non stop about it and im so glad someone finally listened to my recommendations and actually loves it like i do!!!
Good morning everyone in the #24in48 challenge
This is my entry for the #sffchallenge at hour 6, I‘m a little late since I just woke up. I talk about this book a lot but it means so much to me. I read nothing but SFF, my shelves are full of those books, but this one was the 1st book I read coming out of a 9yr abusive relationship that took reading away from me. Not only is it amazing but it holds strong means for me as my breakaway point.
Kings of the Wyld is tremendous, pulpy SF fun, although it stops short of being great. The highlight is taking adventuring bands to their logical conclusion. And it has rabbit-eared elves. Full review - https://everydayshouldbetuesday.wordpress.com/2019/07/16/kings-of-the-wyld-is-a-...
Day 11: #red
The red spine, the red heavy metal font letters, the amazing cover art. Gah. I love this book so much. It is absolutely amazing, I know tons talk about Bloody Rose the 2nd in the series (which I do love as well) but this one is its own piece of badass fantasy magic! I love it so much. I actually have the cover art as my phone wallpaper haha.

Great humorous writing that had me grin and laugh out loud while listening to the audiobook. The story line was a bit lacking & predictable but overall an entertaining adventure. 3.5 stars
Part Dungeons and Dragons, part Spinal Tap, all fun. I could have done with fewer penis jokes, but the juvenile humor is by design, and often unexpectedly charming. I'll read the next.

I am so awestruck right now that I don‘t think I‘ll be able to piece my thoughts together on this book! Kings of the Wyld is pure gold. Every few pages, I found myself grinning from ear to ear and chortling like a fool. Also, the characters are so incredibly well written, I‘ve fallen in love with each and every one of them. I didn‘t expect this tale to stir so many emotions in me. I cried some real tears, both happy and sad ones.
Reading Kings of the Wyld to Miss Bella Bear. This is easily one of my top ten reads, and I‘m not even finished yet!
Finished this awhile ago, just now getting around to reviewing it! I loved this mix of Game of Thrones meets Name of the Wind but with more humor and levity! It‘s definitely a saga and and full of adventure! Loved the descriptions, all the different fantastical monsters and the characters! Clay Cooper!!! 💖💕 Thanks @TracyReadsBooks for the great recommendation!! #gettingthebandbacktogether #theboysarebackintown
Is there a better Saturday afternoon activity than wandering round a bookshop? My book-haul from today (spent all my Christmas vouchers!)
Loved this book so much! So crazy and Wyld! Definitely one I‘d recommend of fans of fantasy, great characters, and an incredible adventure. Thanks so much @Siannalyn for putting this on your list for #newyearwhodis and feeling proud I‘ve finished my second book from your list of faves! Starring Zeus the bone king and Calli the snuggle queen. #dogsoflitsy
