It was slow to get started. I struggled to see the direction but felt satisfied with the ending.
Nothing like some 80‘s hits and a new book at #schoolpickup to brighten up this gloomy day 💕📚🎼🚀
Interesting and reasonably written, with an protagonist that isn‘t so much whiny but as chronically indecisive, and rather annoyingly expecting certainty from everyone else.
#scifi
New audiobook...the main complaint seems to be that the protagonist is whiny but that isn‘t coming across as strongly in the audio version.

I still can‘t walk past this book on a shelf without pausing and considering chucking out all my reading plans while I take time for a reread. Loved it so much.
Ok...I normally am pretty tolerant and fair with books BUT I couldn't get around how completely and utterly whiny the main character was. Maybe I'm just not being fair bc I keep pretty high standards for scifi...but I just couldn't do it. I shouldn't have to be as patient with a book as I am my two 3yr olds.
Good, but not great. Some of the individual scenes were good, though it just left something to be desired overall. I almost felt like it was so similar to Station 11 in theme that they could almost be part of a series.
A fitting book for today's eclipse! #greatamericansolareclipse #starryeyed #sunandmoon
I ended up loving this. A little slow to start, it tackles the apocalyptic scenario of what would happen if a disease wipes out most of the worlds population. Set in the future with different planets, space travel, and advanced technology. It's really about humanity with some romance and drama thrown in. So glad I read this even though it hasn't been super popular.
"Who said anything about easy? But it's all you can do, isn't it? Live today. Then the next day. And the one after that. Unless you're inclined to jump off the nearest cliff, of course, but surviving is fairly addictive. Do it once and you get more determined to keep on doing it."
This book turned out really good. I had some misgivings when I first started reading it and almost bailed, but I'm so glad I didn't. It just started out slow. Think Station Eleven in space! A lot of talk about god, because a virus wiped out most of the human race, but the main protagonist wasn't a heavy believer so it was palatable for me.
I wanted to love this but it was not meant to be. If you are looking for a light summer read it would be fine. The concept was cool but it was filled with cliches and overdone tropes. I had been interested in the concept of how someone might handle being completely alone while they attempt to find others but Jamie finds out there are others almost immediately. The romance was pretty lukewarm & lots of over the top stuff happened. Meh
It was a struggle to finish this. I had high hopes but it was too slow paced and perhaps it was the narrator that made it so. I increased the speed to 1.5x. Maybe it would have been better as a novella ?? Three stars
About halfway through this book and loving it! The book is scratching the same reading itch that Station Eleven did for me: an apocalypse novel that asks big questions in a beautifully written way.

Not sure if aliens exist in this book but I had this on hand and very few other alien 👽 books. If they do exist, they will be in the space between the stars.
Staycation/extended pre-birthday weekend going strong with Buddhist group meditation, brunch with my husband, yard work and now a break in the shade with a few of my favorite things #bookandbrew I'm enjoying this book - wondering what it did to earn a 50% rating!
Sometimes it's ok to #judgeabookbyitscover 😍😍😍 Really looking forward to this one! #libraryholdftw #weekendread
Planning my weekend reading while waiting for my bloody slow laptop to boot up...grrrr....No snacks yet but there are some blackberries calling my name...#litsypartyofone
Wow! What an amazing read! Didn't really know what to expect from this, but I totally loved this book that's rather hard to categorize into a genre! It's sci-fi but also about relationships, the end of the world and finding what's important.... #SplashIntoSummerReads #HideAndSeek
The first half was great..the end , was just flat
Not my cup of tea.
Fine dystopian novel. What happens when a deadly virus turns 99.999% of the galaxy's population to dust? Not as horribly depressing as it sounds, surprisingly enough. #Berkley #AnneCorlett #Debut
My next book. I set it aside for a library audio book. I'm starting today.

One day I will get to this. 4321 is taking me forever to read. It's really good but it requires a book monogamy that is not typical for me. I've had to abandon other books while I make my way through 4321.
Perhaps this will be my next read.
Happy Tuesday, dear Littens! Just hours left before opening our #SummerSantaGoesPostal #SummerSolsticeBookExchange 📦! Can't wait!
A big welcome to all the #bookstagrammers who have joined us in the last few days! We hope you love it here! And we are so looking forward to seeing all your beautiful photos!
An enjoyable and quick read with an interesting concept. Reminded me, in a weird way, of Joe Hill's THE FIREMAN.
Science Fiction often examines the human condition and how we would react in different situations. This beautiful examination of how we would act if 99.99% of humanity disappeared tells many stories, not just one. In a way that seems to reflect Watership Downs' exploration of different societies, the plot twists and turns to guide you through the solar system and back home.

I just won this book from a read it forward giveaway and it's a perfect fit for the tag. Woman is stranded on space station (or some space location) when virus wipes out the human race on earth, or so she thinks until she receives a message from a ragtag group of survivors.
Y'all, @BerkleyPub must have someone looking into my diary because this book has EVERYTHING I want. End of the world space epic AND world ending virus AND a woman who has to confront it all? Sign. Me. Up. @MorgansMenagerie , you already know you're captain of my apocalypse dream team. I vote we fortify a big box store and face the end of the world head on. #Spacexstars
Was this book custom written for me?!? A science-fiction-space-travel-super-virus-story is something from my dreams. Starting this ASAP! Thank you @BerkleyPub ! @CatLadyBibliophile , you would be on my Apocalypse Dream Team FYI, and in my just created book club for this. When the world ends, I'm heading for the library. Knowledge is power. #spacexstars
A more literary bend on the post-apocalyptic/survival novel, this novel focuses on Jamie, who, with a group of survivors, journeys from outer colonized planets back to Earth. Through this journey, Jamie has to finally face her own personal shortcomings; she misplaces anger and blame to those around her to avoid her own grief and struggle. This is an end-of-the-world book that‘s not about the end of the world, but rather about how to continue on.
Nearly done. Maybe not what I expected, but a lot of little gems like these #quotes.
My partner is sick in bed, it's gloomy and wet outside, and I'm taking a reading and resting day to kick the rest of the cold I caught last weekend. Starting this one because my download only has 10 days left.
PDFs admittedly are super tiny on my phone (picture this on an iPhone 4, screen width
This felt like a quite different approach to a post-apocalyptic scenario. It was very philosophical & fairly slow going in the beginning, but I really enjoyed the way that allowed the characters to develop. It was also pretty thought provoking about how we treat different groups of people in society. Also, my first Penguin First to Read!
This was an epic book week! In all I got SIX, three purchased and three from publishers. First up...The Space Between the Stars by Anne Corlett. It sounds amazing and really different from my typical read so I'm excited to get to it. Thank you @BerkleyPub for the beautiful book!!!
I loved this. Beautifully written, insightful... just lovely. I couldn't put it down. It's a space drama but don't expect a lot of action; it's more philosophical and character driven. There were some moments that seemed a little far fetched, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Got this from #firsttoread by PRH. Hope it's better than the last space-themed book I read. 🙃
This book was your standard-fare post-apocalyptic novel with a bit of space adventure thrown in. Jamie is dealing with a profound personal loss that occurred before a virus wiped out most of humanity. She's hard to get to know--it's who she is, but it did make things feel sloggy. Secondary characters were hit or miss, kind of cliché and underdeveloped. I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic stories, though, so I did like the escape this read provided.
@Suzze and I wouldn't go anywhere. We'd stay home with our respective cats, nothing better than quilts, family and reading! #SpaceXStars
This ARC looks really interesting. Apocalyptic story, set in space. Promotion campaign asks where you would go at the end of the world. All I can think is I'm watching it happen on social media & I'm still here. #spacexstars
I was excited when I read the blurb about this book on NetGalley. It sounded like a woman sets out to find herself, stays alone, until a group arrives. Instead, the group arrives around page 3 and it becomes a space adventure. While not a bad one, it isn't what I thought this book would be. Limited humans around the galaxy due to a plague, some dangerous and all looking to survive. Main's group searches these planets to return to Earth.3-3.5 stars
@Liberty asked what are we currently reading? This is one of them. A woman who wanted space from her boyfriend after the loss of a baby travels to a remote planet where all of civilization has been wiped out. There is a small bit of allegory happening with this one. #allisnotlost
