I've never done a monthly stats post, but it was really fun looking back at what I read in June! (2 books in the last 2 days, and a lot of YA really helped the total!)

I've read two heavy YA books in the last 2 days, so I needed a little change. From MMD's Summer Reading Guide.

Can I read this by 4pm (it's 11am now) for MMD book club? If my kids stay entertained, I'm going to say - maybe.

Two of my copies of Sorcerer's Stone (I think I have 4). My brothers got it for Christmas when I was in college & I promptly read it & fell in love! Who would've thought that 20 years later I'd be sharing these stories with my own boys (and still buying copies!)

Thank you, Book Depository! Did I need another copy of Harry Potter, well no. But it's Ravenclaw, and 20th anniversary! (And gosh I feel old!) And I added more to my Madeline L'Engle collection (All the Austin family books)

This book was the perfect way to kick off summer break (and put a lid on "the longest year" ever). The characters are lovely and it's a great spin on a classic, sweet YA. Also, A Wrinkle in Time makes an appearance, so it gets bonus points from me! (Cover pic from Goodreads).

Bought this as a Last Day of School present to myself! Time for some summer reading!

I saw this recommended by TopShelfText on Instagram and it sounded fun. Indeed, This was a perfect, fluffy, historical, English mystery for the last week of school. The quirky characters are particularly delightful on audio.

It's only taken 26 years or so, but I've finally read my first Austen. Pretty delightful.

I don't have the brain power at the moment to do much reading (I'm thinking a Harry Potter reread might be needed) but this audiobook is fantastic. I've never been able to get through Austen, but now I'm kind of hooked!

This book was a crazy, twisty roller coaster. I don't usually read (or enjoy) books in the psychological thriller kind of realm, but this book did all of it really well. I think I was totally hooked in by the fact that both parts of the story (past & present) were focused around eclipses, and once I was hooked, it didn't let go. (I got to read this thanks to Netgalley).

I do so love Kit {so far} in this book.

I asked my son to pick me a book off my shelf, and this is what he chose. I hate to admit that I've never read Pride & Prejudice (I'm trying the audible version now), but I'm liking this so far.

I was so excited to get to read this book from Penguin First to Read. I grew up an army brat (though my dad's a doc, More Colonel Potter than Crick), but the characters felt a bit familiar. (And my dad had me watch the security training whenever I went overseas). The story is set in Amman, Jordan & focuses on 2 women and how they adapt to that new environment. I liked how it goes between their perspectives, so you got the whole story of events.

I listened while grading papers, I listened while my kids played video games, I listened in the car and in the parking lot of my son's school. This book was perfect for the last weeks of school. It wasn't a perfect mystery, but it was pretty darn enjoyable!

This book was not at all what I was expecting, but it was so powerful (I've gone through about 25 adjectives & none are quite right). I'm so glad I read it, but I have one heck of a book hangover!

My Overdrive hold finally arrived! I'm hoping it's suspenseful enough to get me moving in the morning through these last weeks of school! #teachersoflitsy

As a lover of all things space, I was hooked on this book immediately. (It's a professional hazard of teaching astronomy, I think). It's definitely character driven, so even for non-spacey people it might be enjoyable. I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints and how the story was structured, but I would've liked more closure at the end perhaps.

I listened to the audio & Neil Gaiman is excellent. I'd listen to him read the phone book!

These should keep me busy for a bit 😂

I really enjoyed this installment. I'm interested in what happens next, but I've heard such mixed things about Wings & Ruin that I almost just want to stop here.

A wild Friday night for me. Boys are building Lego with Dad, so I thought I could sneak in some listening! I feel much more invested in this book than the first!

I love spy stories & this whole series based around a teen spy with an eidetic memory was fun & sweet and surprising.

This was crazy, creepy, thought provoking, all the things. (Also terrifying, since I have my own kids now). I definitely preferred the first half, it was interesting to think about what would happen if the alien overlords came.

Finally started listening to this, it's been on my list forever. So far it is great sci-fi. I'm really excited to see how the story goes.

Somehow I've never fully read Gatsby. I must have bailed on it at some point. I'll be glad to have read it, but I must admit to not liking it too much.

I loved this book! It was a great continuation of Sleeping Giants & kept all of the things I loved from that book. I also really loved the added genetics (I'm a biology teacher, after all) and the other science-y aspects.

So excited to be reading this for #deweysreadathon

I loved this book when I first read it, but I wasn't sure how it would work on audio (though I heard good things). I got it during an audible sale, because "Why Not?" And it is Terrific!

This book was incredible.

I have loved listening to this book! I got it on CD & thus could basically only listen in the car 😫It definitely made me excited for my commute. I figured out the major twist about 2/3 through, but still kept second guessing until it was confirmed.

This felt like a quite different approach to a post-apocalyptic scenario. It was very philosophical & fairly slow going in the beginning, but I really enjoyed the way that allowed the characters to develop. It was also pretty thought provoking about how we treat different groups of people in society. Also, my first Penguin First to Read!

Finally finished all the lab reports 🎉 so I'm starting this as my reward. I already think I'm going to be mad when I have to put it down & put the kids to bed.

I ended up really enjoying this book, though it took me forever to read. I have a "slight" obsession with Alaska, and I think the authors and I like the same types of things (Firefly, for instance) and I love how there were hints of those things throughout. #litsypartyofone

The Central Branch of the Seattle Public Library is my new favorite place. It is BEAUTIFUL with so much thought into its design. And that is blue sky being reflected, which was quite amazing!

They have the Dewey numbers on the floor at the Seattle Public Library. This place is amazing! And the nonfiction collection is arranged in a giant spiral, so you can wander through the entire thing.

I don't really know what to say about this book. It was a fascinating look at relationship, migration, what it means to be a "native".

I've wanted to learn Russian since I visited there many years ago. AGIM reignited that desire, so I've been doing the Russian Duolingo.... What can I say, it gets me!

I'm really trying to like this book, but the way it's written exhausts me.

I loved being reminded of summers spent in Maine visiting my Grammy. Christina reminds me of the strength and attitude of my Gram, who grew up not too far from her. My Aunt took us to an Andrew Wyeth exhibit one summer (my first art museum experience!) , so it was wonderful to read a story based on his work.

I went back and forth on this one, but in the end I really enjoyed how the stories wove in and out of one another. It didn't end up being quite what I expected, which was a pleasant surprise.
