It didn't take long since I heard about this book on the podcast for my self control to break down and to buy it. No regrets - I loved it so very much. The writing is solid, the story a wild ride and the characters crept into my heart. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Update - the weekend didn't much improve (now my love caught his son's stomach bug) and no, the library had none of the books people recommended to me. Bleh. I stil got a number of good books though and listened to an episode of A strong sense of place and really enjoyed it (and now really want to read Daryl Gregory).
Thanks, @Chrissyreadit !
So much fun!! Rich, likeable characters, just enough chaos to be fun and a family that makes yours look normal! What's not to love?! Don't miss out on this fun story about psychic abilities, government spies, mobsters, free will and mind over matter!!! ❤️
Getting this started today as I avoid more pressing responsibilities at work, lol... Daylight Saving Time always wears me out.
Yay! Spring has sprung! Thank you @AmyG for my #SpeculativeSpringSwap package 🌼🐝 Everything is perfectly wonderful! 😊 I can‘t wait to cozy up to these books with a nice cup of tea and some chocolate 🍫 ☕️
And thank you too @Avanders for hosting a lovely swap! ❤️
A generally fun romp with magical elements thrown in as we follow a family with psychic powers.
The disparate story lines which alternate timelines do come together well at the end.
This was not what I expected but in a good way!
The Amazing Telemachus family of psychics never made it big and they now are living a 'normal' life. Told from multiple povs, each family member must come to terms with their varying powers as it affects their lives. Meanwhile, the government is of course wanting to get involved, and oh wait, is that the mafia?
What a wacky wonderful read 😅
Hit the jackpot at the used bookstore today! Found two books off my TBR list that the library doesn't carry and three books in the clearance section that look interesting. The tagged book seems like it will be hilarious and magical so I'm glad I noticed it for only $3! Has anyone read it?

Thanks for the tag @erzascarletbookgasm !
#ISpy a book with silhouettes from my shelves.
@pocketmermaid and @mdm139 Do you have any books with gold filigree on the cover?
This book is about a psychic family involved in Chicago's shady underground world. The plot is both entertaining and suspenseful. The characters are well fleshed out and amusing. There are some really good twists and tender moments. I think the genre bending story is pretty unique. Definitely a good escape novel.
This ebook is on sale for $2.99! This has been on my radar for a while and sounds super interesting.

This is ace!! Completely different to anything I've read about before.
Continuing my TBR project:
This is one the oldest selection on my TBR list - Originally added July 4, 2017.
So-So
I do like an peculiar title...
Intrigued with this. Mixed reviews too. 😊🤣
I heard a lot of really good reviews about this book, but I found it to be a bit slow personally. I liked the concept and the unique characters, but the story was a bit confusing in parts and didn‘t always keep my interest. Not terrible, but not great for me.
With winter setting in early this turned out to be an exceptionally fun and unexpected read. Part mob book part spy thriller mixed together with hucksters and shysters and the real psychic Macoy! A book about love, family and teeth.
I had so much fun reading this one. A family of psychics are down on their luck after a disastrous TV appearance years ago. Things are going from bad to worse with pressure coming from both the mob and the government at the same time. All of comparisons to Arrested Development were spot on. This book has a cast of quirky characters, humor, but also a lot of tenderness. Once things began clicking together in the second half it was unputdownable.
Treated myself a little today. ❣😬❣

Oh wow Heather. After a not pleasant end to a not pleasant week I went to a bookstore after work for some stress relief. I talked myself out of buying anything so coming home to this amazing surprise is such a wonderful treat. Thank you so much @Mynameisacolour I am really looking forward to reading this and I love the bookmark. You made my week.
I loved this audiobook! Also here‘s a picture of Ginny our dog, she does this when the roomba runs. Hope you feel better! #PetsAndRecs
Man this was fun. Imagine the family from Arrested Development, but some of them have psychic powers, everybody has a secret, and add in a government agency for the supernatural and the mob. The Telemachus family used to be famous for their powers but things have gone downhill, Irene can‘t hold down a job, Frankie‘s in debt, Buddy has stopped speaking and patriarch Teddy falls in love with a new woman every few weeks. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⬇️
Daryl Gregory‘s historical fantasy novel is a whimsical, entertaining affair that has a real Wes Anderson wistful vibe to it. Although some of the plot twists are predictable, there‘s still a lot of enjoyment to be had from the skill Gregory displays in unveiling them and I especially liked Irene who‘s been forced to be the grown up in the family) and the troubled Buddy who is plagued by knowledge he cannot share.
I loved the central idea of this book: a family of actual psychics that had once been debunked on national television. Overall, it turned out to be a fun, light story about the subsequent history of this family.
I‘m so glad I read this. I was on the fence at the beginning. Many of the characters were not immediately likable but, as often occurs in real life, once I got to know them, I just wanted more. Any uncertainties at the beginning were totally worth the payoff in the second half of the book. Now I want a sequel!
All of these came off of my hold list at the same time 😩 I don‘t know what to read first...Spoonbenders is audio, but which of the other three should I start with??? Help!!! #bookishproblems
I enjoyed the book. It was very relaxed compared to the usual books I read. It‘s a story about a dysfunctional psychic family and all the shenanigans each of the members find themselves in. Pretty quick read, pretty enjoyable. Beware there are profanities used as well as some sexually suggestive content.
Looking for a good dysfunctional family tale in anticipation of Thanksgiving?? Here are a few of my favorites!

Loved this one! A family of dysfunctional magicians and a narrative spanning four decades?! I‘m all in. ❤️
This was a fun little book about a family that has psychic powers, or do they? At one point the family had a career in show-business, but it was ruined when a renowned debunker ruined them on live TV. It is less about the psychic abilities than it is about the family dynamics and how that early celebrity and disillusion effected them as they moved from childhood to adulthood. There is also a bit of a caper/adventure feel to it. And the mob.
My awesome coworker joined Litsy!! Everyone should say hello and follow her! @ReadingSpoon
Okay, I guess. The second half picks up. The other reviewers are correct in that no spoons are bent.
Read because it was nominated for the 2018 Nebula awards.
Really fun and clever story. He writes great dialogue
This story is quite fun from the supernatural aspect. All the different powers that are a part of the Telemachus family was very cool. There‘s a ton of family drama if you are into that kind of thing & there are outside forces putting pressure on an already dysfunctional family. For me, there were some humorous moments but there were also moments where I was quite annoyed or disgusted. ……Full review at www.thegenreminx.com #TheGenreMinxBookReviews
Not a single spoon was bent in this entire book.
A zany story about a family of psychics and con artists. The Telemachus family used to be famous until tragedy struck and now with both the government and the Chicago mob after them, their special powers may not be enough to save them. Lots of humor, lots of heart.
Maybe I couldn't latch on to the weird characters or abide by masturbation in Ch. 1 or the c--- word spoke by a mother in Ch. 3, but this book is not for me. Anyone who knows me personally, knows this is monumental as I tend to finish books even when I don't like them. This one goes back at only Ch.4.
I really liked this mind bender. It was a family drama, personal and deep. But it also had some magic.
My current TBR stack! I‘m trying to get through the Nebula/Norton nominees I haven‘t read yet. #ReadingResolutions #MarchTBR
Not sure what I think so far...
Book 6. 5🌟. This one I highly recommend! I liked all the characters and I really enjoyed that way that it was written. Absolutely favourite read so far this year, I can see myself rereading it in the future!
January round up. Plus two ebooks. I think the tagged book was my favourite.
Up next - I was so excited to find this one at the library book sale that I didn't notice it was large print until I set down to read it. 🤓
Having a lazy day-in body. My mind is being highly entertained by this lovable family.
Starting this today. Sounds promising.
This was good, but not as un-put-down-able as I had hoped it would be. I loved the concept of the story, but I‘m not sure the author pulled it off. To be honest, for the majority of the book, I wondered if the family truly had any psychic abilities or if they were all just delusional about their abilities. Anyway, this one was just so-so for me.
