“Your book habit alone would bankrupt most people.”
~Lydia
I would have to agree!
Finished this audiobook while on vacation. Tara Westover tells the story of her Mormonist upbringing in Idaho. Dealing with her fathers survivalism and his alleged undiagnosed psychiatric illness, Tara is forced to strive for an education while trying to balance her families beliefs.
3.5/5🧨
3.5/5🐍. “Attention taken to its highest degree, is the same thing as prayer.” Bea and Dan travel to France after deciding to take a 3 month holiday. Dan is unaware that Bea is worth millions, but she refuses to use it. While in France they travel to a hotel being run by her brother Alex. A tragedy breaks Bea‘s life wide open. The story examines family, love, and money and what people will do for it. Would recommend.
2/5🐯. I was really excited about this novel based on the synopsis. However I was underwhelmed and considered bailing several times. The long drawn out passages related to Naamah going out to swim were long and drawn out. The amount of sex was unnecessary. Would not recommend 😤

Happy Mother‘s Day!!! I get to do my favorite thing all day.... lay in bed and read a book 📚 🥰🥰🥰🥰
4/5👏🏻. Seems to be picking. Likes it enough to go onto volume three!
4/5🥰. Enjoyable. Not quite to the level of Saga , but I need something to tide me over for a while
This book. Batman returns in the background and my daughter Gracyn playing Minecraft. Good evening. Oh ....and I have wine 🍷
3.5/5 🧩. Good quick read. Great first novel from this Nigerian author! Highly entertaining.
4.5/5👏🏻. Boyne never fails to entice the reader and produce a wonderful story. From the first section you are hooked and invested in the characters (even if it is a deep hatred). Each section uses a unique voice and dialogue flow. I also loved the small reference to his previous adult release The Hearts Invisible Furies🥰. Did anyone else catch that? Definitely read!
Managed to pass my quiz today on schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, so I am taking in a little RR&R....rest, relaxation, and reading with this chunky monkey.
What is your caticorn name?
4/5💆. A great collection of thought provoking essays. I am going to school right now to be a Psychiatric NP and it provided me with some brain 🧠 food. Several things that we all need to keep in mind when interacting or treating patients with mental disorders.
5/5⭐️. I understand the controversy behind the idea of this book in relation to the age of Wavy and the events that occurred between her and Kellen. However, for those that have lived in situations similar to Wavy‘s and experienced the hurt, loss, and unbelievable moments where you have to grow up fast, it keeps you grounded. Growing up way before your time and beyond your years is difficult, and unnerving. It provides you with a reality check.
4/5🤰🏼. Great book about The possible future of genetics 🧬, the use of genetics to create designer babies, and the financial difference and opportunities that are available for different socioeconomic classes of women. I wasn‘t crazy about the ending, however, the book as a whole was great.
3/5🦅. I liked a few of the stories but the ones I didn‘t like outweighed the ones I did like. The title story was the best out of the plethora of stories. I would read more of her work.
2/5😕. People fall asleep. Stuff happens. Some people don‘t make it. People wake up. Thee end 🙄. Decent writing. Was not that interesting. Would not recommend
3/5🦊. Kim Brooks takes us into her world as a mother that was arrested for leaving her four year old son in the car while she ran into the store. She explores, very briefly, different views and anxieties that parents experience in today‘s world. I thought her explorations into each subject were just too short for me. It did make me want to explore more about this topic.
3.5/5🎈. I was underwhelmed. I enjoyed the alternating narrative and timelines between Fiona and Yale. It was a good solid novel, I just didn‘t fall in love with it.
Meh. I thought the story could have had more depth. I had no connection to the narrator at all. Character development was lacking for me.
4/5 ❤️. I throughly enjoyed this book. A young woman attempts to piece together her past following the death of her mother. The story is built around her mother autopsy report. While many parts of the autopsy are unremarkable her mother lived many struggles and hardships of her own. Laura tried to understand her place in life by attempting to understand her mother better. Great read for the second book of the year.
Loving this books so far. I had to stop for a little bit and listen to my youngest two children argue while they were emptying their hampers. My daughter Gracyn told her brother Graden who is six “ you need to listen to me because I AM AN 8 YEAR OLD GIRL.” I laughed so hard ❤️❤️❤️
2/5👑
1 st book of the year finished and I was not impressed. The descriptions were too long and it felt like the story was dragging from beginning, middle, and to the very end.
My name comes from the movie Vanilla Sky. Nothing fancy, I have used variations of this handle for 15+years 👍
4/5🔥. I enjoyed this book and the world building process.
I would have liked the story to have moved a little faster. The middle parts started to drag. But overall it was an enjoyable novel.
3.5/5. Um.....that was quite a trip. I am not even sure which parts of the book were real and which were fabricated in the narrators mind. All I know is that she seemed 🦇 💩 🤪
3/5👽. It was weird and interesting.
My classes are done for the semester so I have 3 weeks of nothing but catching up on all the books I have been meaning to read 🤤🤤🤤🎊🎊🎊🙏🙏🙏🙏
4/5🧟♀️. Melanie is a 10 year old girl trapped inside a government facility. During the “Breakdown” a fungus turned everyone into slobbering human eating zombies. Melanie and the other children are zombies but not quite. They speak and learn. I love the world Carey created. I am looking forward to reading more.
3.5/5👏🏻. Historical fiction surrounding the life of Madame Tussaud. Interesting at times and some parts really drug on.
3.5/5💋. It was good and interesting at times. A small sleepy village is put to sleep where upon waking all the child bearing women are found to be mysteriously pregnant. Like the cuckoo these children continue their parasitic activity on this small sleepy town. This 1957 novel inspired the 1960 film and the remake in 1995 🥰
Nope I am not giving this a rating. Hanna is non-verbal but intelligent but refuses to speak. Hanna spends the novel trying to “save “ her dad from her her mother. I did not like how mental illness was portrayed for this child. References were made through out the book about incidents stemming from her childhood involving her mother. I almost feel like her mother was the unstable one. Just.......nope
4/5🍫.
Another classic Dahl that I finished reading to my 8 year old this evening. I enjoy Matilda and James and the Giant peach 🍑 more, but this is still fantastic. My daughter loved it .
This was my favorite book so far this year. As well as the two that finished off the trilogy Congratulations on your mile stone. #70kgiveaway

4/5🔥. I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I needed.
4.5/5📖. Mae and Edith are sent to live with their father after their mother attempts suicide. The father has not seen them in 14 years. This book is visceral. Each character looks at the world from their own mentally dysfunctional lens. I wanted to feel empathetic toward each of the characters, but their narratives were turned so inwards, I couldn‘t even feel bad for them. Fantastic read. Highly recommend 📖📖
