⭐️⭐️⭐️ There‘s a mysterious death at glossy fashion magazine RAGE. The setting is pretty typical: NYC, high fashion, high pressure, catty coworkers, so on. There‘s also an extreme darkness I didn‘t expect, but was all-in! Part murder mystery, part chick lit, this is a deftly-written satire I‘m glad I picked up!

I have no idea when or how this ended up in #TheVault but I am oh so glad it did. A wickedly delicious satire of the beauty/fashion industry and social media/influencers. I was really pleasantly surprised by how sharp this was. 4🌟

This book is a delight. It's part murder mystery, part satire, and part social commentary. It's filled with feminism, dark humor, and 90s pop culture references. I loved it, and it made me love Barbara Bourland even more. 4.5/5 #aty2020 (book by an author you've read once before) @barbarabb

A few months ago, I read her second (Edgar-nominated) mystery (Fake Like Me), and I loved it so much I immediately ordered a copy of her first. I'm excited to dig in! #ATY2020 (book by an author you've only read once before) @barbarabb

A satirical look into the fashion world, “I‘ll Eat When I‘m Dead” explores the pressures faced by those in the industry while investigating a couple of deaths and throwing in a little bit of comedy too. I didn‘t love it and not being the most fashionable person, I didn‘t understand it all, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It‘s 3 stars from me.

I came across the Rare Birds Book Club at Stylist Live last week. Named by the magazine as a company to watch in 2019, I knew that I just had to sign up! I hadn't heard of this subscription before, but as they've only recently celebrated their first birthday, I'm sure this is a brand that will grow and blossom in the future.

My current book and audio book selections. I thought these made a good pairing. Especially ironic since, when left to my own devices, I tend to favor jeans and t-shirts these days.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this #whodunitbymail selection. Good fluffy fun about a lifestyle that is the opposite of mine. Persephone just finished her review of the book. She's such a #fashionista #catsoflitsy

This felt like a Devil Wears Prada meets murder mystery with some rich people problems thrown in. Started a little slow for me as I'm not much of a fashionista but once the suspicious dying started, I was all in!

This book was difficult to get through, broken up into different parts that really had no significance. The characters were confusing and under developed as was the meandering plot. I felt like I was ready for he Book to wrap up but it kept trucking with more pointless details and drama that didn‘t add to the story. The hopelessly underdeveloped love twist didn‘t help either. Skip this one for sure!

My latest #whodunitbymail package arrived the other day. @Tiffy_Reads this looks like fun. The blurb reminds me of some of Kate White's books. I'll have to take it on my work trip this weekend.
I didn't get to read the last one because I fell so far behind. I'm trying to not let that happen again.

This was only ok. Seemed like it was confused about what kind of book it wanted to be. The mystery aspect could've been better.

I've only just started this, but so far it feels like Devil Wears Prada meets murder mystery - in a good way!

Late start, but ideally I'd like to #litsypartyofone (and do virtually nothing else) for the rest of the weekend.

I thought that this sounded like a fun locked room mystery. Unfortunately, it was light on the mystery and heavy on unlikeable characters making stupid decisions. This book had been compared to The Devil Wears Prada. I beg to differ.

Interesting read following women who work at a magazine that spotlights high fashion. I like how the author made the women strong and feminist. I think their can be a preconceived notion that women can't be into fashion and their looks and be feminist at the same time. I do wish there was more of a thriller aspect to the story but overall I enjoyed the book.

🐶 Daisy's face sums it up...meh. I knew this was a book concerning high fashion...something I'm not passionate about, but I thought the mystery would be strong enough to carry me along. To me it wasn't. This book just wasn't for me. I bet some people might really love it. I just couldn't relate at all to the super skinny care what they wear drug addict characters. I get that it's a satire but...eh 🤷🏼‍♀️

At page 279 I've finally connected with a character 🙄 I wish the book had been about Dr. Bishop instead.

Next up. Really digging this cover 💀
