"what's the finishing word?"
"Miles" I tell him "we are"
Good writing. Good characters. I like the concept of the disappearances themselves. I did not jive with the Shakespeare connection. Kind of just lost something for me. 4 stars because it did draw me in and I felt I was in this town, but the Will Shakes part is just not doing it for me.
my favourite book of all time! i know the author through a mutual friend and it‘s such a good book and i can‘t wait for the sequel.
I‘ve got a couple of books checked-out from the library (just a couple 😅), including the one recommended by @demicaractere in response to my #FlatShareAndShareAlike giveaway. Demetria, you‘ve won my copy of the book!
Email me at monalyisha@gmail.com with your address & I‘ll get it shipped out shortly! 💖
Congrats! 🎉
Now, which of these books should I read next?
This book is one of my all time favorite reads. I am obsessed with the magical twists in a modern day world and blown away by the level of thought from the subplots to Shakespeare. Would definitely recommend.
This is pretty but would you tempted to read it just from the cover?
Started off a little slow but other than that it was pretty great, gotta love my ya books
Saw this in a bookshop in Hong Kong, immediately intrigued! Bought it via Kindle!
I absolutely adored this book. The characters were lovable, the idea of abstract things like reflections and dreams disappearing every 7 years is captivating, and the pacing is nice. The author gave me just enough time to settle into a new idea to where I felt comfortable and then threw in something new and exciting! So glad I found this on my elibrary.
This book had such a cool premise! A town where something disappears every seven years? Yes, please! I thought it was well written and had a very cool premise. My only problem with it is that Shakespeare plays a fairly major role in it (Look, her mom‘s name was Juliet so you knew she‘d be a fan) and I just... can‘t seem to like Shakespeare. BUT if you like mystery, and magic curses, and ESPECIALLY if you like Shakespeare, then absolutely read this
Rainy Sunday reading... so far so good hope it continues, a pick for now
Currently reading... (published 2013)
Really hope I will finally get around to read this one, it has been on my shelves since March. Now I‘m cuddling with my cat in the garden. I watched #MammaMia2 yesterday, it was silly and highly entertaining and enjoyable.

I LOOOOVE this book gosh, this is probably one of the best I have ever read! (and yet this book is so underrated)
It's a YA, fantasy and mystery - who will dislike this genre??? With a dash of magical acts, some mystery, family realistic love, a cute love story (but not overshadows the plot) - P E R F E C T!

The story is set into motion when Aila's mother dies and her father gets drafted into WWII. Aila and her little brother are sent to her mother's home town to live with her mother's childhood BF. Aila can tell something is off about this town. Every 7 years something disappears. It starts with reflections. A local doctor finds 'cures' for most and Aila links these cures to Shakespeare references. Def a good choice if you like crossovers.
This is another book that I didn‘t know what to expect once I started reading. I‘m really enjoying it! #thedisappearances #emilybainmurphy #williamshakeapeare #music #bookstagram #northerngothic
I can‘t believe this book never got more attention! The reviews are great, but it‘s audience was so small. It‘s an enchanting blend of mystery, historical fiction, and magical realism, set in an uncanny “something‘s not quite right here” town during WW2, laced through with Shakespeare references and slow burn revelations. The atmosphere reminds me of The Raven Cycle, with a focus on family and small town secrets instead of friend group dynamics.
I just finished this book! I loved It! It was a fun read. I couldn't put it down. I had figure out the reason about things disappearing every 7 years. I recommend It! #litsy #booklover #library #kindle #kindlefire
I'm almost done with this one. I'm loving It! It's a fun book to read. I will finish the rest tomorrow. #litsy #booklover #kindle #kindlefire #paperwhite
Wow, this was an immensely boring and weird book that I did not like. It's a "mystery" without any suspense and a super slow pace.
Why was it set in the 1940s?! There was no purpose to that! Ugh! I love WWII and Shakespeare but this book...no! Its so underwhelming!
I just didn't care about any of the characters or the big problem...
And the hidden family member who is wheelchair bound and angry about it...really? Are we really using that?
I've heard really mixed things about this book so I'll give it a try.
Me choosing a #TBR is kind of laughable. Odds I'll stick to it are slim and none of these help me with #LitsyAtoZ but I was feeling pretty inspired by the hope of actual fall weather in October and all the Halloween posts today on Litsy. Not pictured are The Historian for the #impossibleread, We Have Always Lived in the Castle (my hold is in-transit), and the new Stephanie Perkins (still waiting...).
This one arrived yesterday...
I'm hoping it has a Bone Gap vibe ♥️
I really enjoyed this book, but I could of done without the romantic storyline. 🙄
I got this book in my July #bookishbox and I love the cover! Not sure when I'll actually get around to reading it, though 😅
So-so
A bit of magic, a bit of serendipity, grief and hope. Not what I was expecting but it's probably me--not a big fan of magic and fantasy 😕
I'm almost done reading this book and I'm so loving it. The pacing is perfect - the plot unravels realistically. The magical element is intriguing; it's a force that is shaping the characters and their world, almost pushing it's way in gradually to be more of a presence with the absences (or disappearances) that it creates. I also like the lead, Aila, and the Shakespearean references and all the mystery that surrounds Sterling.
This one has gotten really good reviews, but it fell a little flat for me. I suppose it would be classified as magical realism, which I enjoy if done well, but I found it not hashed out as well as it could've been & therefore more on the unbelievable side. Some good elements here, but could've been better I think.
The cover's great though, huh?
Out this morning for an #audiowalk . Discovered a new walking trail adjacent to the university golf course.
Another audiobook listen in the car with my kids. Unlike the last one, this one got 👍🏻all around. Refreshing for YA. Strong female protagonist without any kind of special powers or beauty and who makes mistakes, but still succeeds. Unique mystery that weaves in Shakespeare and clues from his life and plays. This kept our interest and had a satisfying ending.
Road tripping again today, so starting a new audiobook. I really like this cover. Hope it's better than the last audiobook.
I wanted to like it more. It didn't sweep me off my feet. It waxed and waned so I struggled to get through it. The ending did redeem it.
My library hold for this book came in yesterday and I'm super excited to read it. 😍
When Dimple Met Rishi is available to be picked up too but I'll be picking that up tomorrow. 🙊
This is one of my favorite read this 2017 and it didn't fail to amaze me on how the author written this book so beautifully! I love the mystery, the wonders and the curiosity between the characters and to the town itself and how they totally blend in! UGH! One remarkable read!
Will you ever stay to a town where things suddenly disappeared?

Evening reading. 🖤
Thanks HMH Publishing for sending me an ARC of this book!
Rating: 4/5 stars
I knew I was going to enjoy this book! I didn't rlly know much goin into it other than its a YA mystery novel about a girl in a town where things disappear. I didn't know it was going to be a whirlwind of a journey with Shakespeare, friendship and family issues!
A more in depth review to come on my blog!
I've come to the conclusion that Litsy will be used for my theories and rants. Coz I have many of both!
.
.
PREDICTION: The Shakespeare book was meant to be sent to Stefen before/after Juliet died. But it didn't get sent and therefore Aila got the Stone(ring) and book. Stefen probably comes back to the town because he got news that Aila arrived and stole her necklace. And now both stories will meet up soon coz the months are closer now!!
SPOILERS!!

Okay, so I think it's that mysterious other guy who is Phineas son who took the necklace. Like it makes sense. Phineas wanted it and the guy said he was gonna get it back and then it disappears chapters earlier! For now, it's the only plausible explanation! I have no idea how Juliet is involved tho, but am keen to find out! More spoiler-y discussions to come!
Currently almost halfway through this book and BOI I NEEDA TALK ABOUT IT TO SOMEONE! I don't want to give spoilers or anything because it's an arc, but if you've read it, hit me up!! I might end up posting a spoiler-y blurb anyways😆 #arc #book #bookstagram #rant #literature #books #reading
What it looks like when a dream comes true. 😍✨📚📖
