When I ordered this (used) book I didn't realize I was getting a signed copy 💕 Apparently Gail Carriger signed the first 10,000 copies.

My used copy of The Parasol Protectorate omnibus came in today. Honestly, why don't more book series combine volumes? (Also I prefer this cover to the original ones... the og for Soulless is iconic but I wish they had used same model for the rest of the books, plus I always imagined Alexia as a bit more voluptuous with the way she's frequently described as "large" but I digress.)
Screaming crying throwing up. Where are the men like this?
But really it's been too long since I've posted (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
I have been reading a ton of manhwas and webtoons recently. I read "Oh! Holy" a couple years ago but I just have to recommend it! Almost every chapter had me laughing to the point of tears
I am ecstatic. I've been looking to buy a used copy of The Diviners for forever and I found this one at my local library's store in almost perfect condition. I can't wait to buy the other books in the series! #thediviners #halloweenreads #bookhaul
1. Darker Still by Leanna Renee Hieber
2. The Companion by Katie Alender
3. The Caged Graves by Dianne K. Salerni for a standalone (srs one of my fave books of all time, Nathaniel is so swoon-worthy) or The Diviners series by Libba Bray
I've been reading a lot of YA lately ^ㅁ^

I don't know how I feel about this one... The chemistry between the main characters really wasn't there and I didn't love the sexism or how the author messed with the facts about the real case.
I am going to finish this book but somewhat begrudgingly... Audrey Rose is constantly putting down other girls and that just doesn't sit right with me. She acts like she's better than them. I like that she wants to be both girly and strong but she doesn't need to put down others to do so. And the constant corset slander! Also I'm not seeing too much chemistry between the two leads. Oh well...
If you're triggered by gaslighting or medical related trauma, skip The Companion. It's well written and that's what makes it so scary. Honestly, this might be the scariest book I've ever read because it's so realistic. It could happen and probably has happened too many times to count. I do think this is an important book for teens to read because it shows blatant gaslighting in action, we can all do to understand that better.
Girl do NOT sit on your bed with that boy when you KNOW the family believes women are inherently wild and want to corrupt men, do you want to be sent to a convent? Or worse? #thecompanion #halloweenreads
Katie Alender is so good at making normal things seem ominous...
I finished the book at 1 am today and now what am I supposed to do??? I wish it was easy to find similar books by *vibe*. I can't really explain it. The sarcastic, cocky dialogue (especially from Evie, Sam, Henry, and Theta) is what I live for. Give me more of this!
This has nothing to do with The King of Crows but I'm happy Caleb Joseph is back on Youtube. One of my favorite booktubers 💜
It bothers me that so many people hate Evie as a character. Growing up with ADHD as a girl I've felt all of these things so strongly. You try your hardest to be good or polite or "normal;" in the end you lose track of time or you're too enthusiastic about that one subject or you miss a social cue or you say that impulsive thing. Your brain cracks under pressure and the harder you try the more you fail. The world isn't kind to the neurodivergent.
Beach Pneumatic Transit station. This place is so spooky and beautiful... I want to see it in person!!!
This is my 2nd time reading and I love the whole cast BUT I constantly find myself skimming along until I come across the part of the story with Sam and Evie. They're my favorite characters in the whole series and I definitely have a thing for snarky city boys *swoon*
I was going to donate these to Goodwill but yesterday I discovered our vet has a Little Free Library and I've always wanted to leave a book for someone to read! #littlefreelibrary #theselection #airhead #megcabot
💜 When I was very young my best friend called me Peaches since I liked peaches so much. My family has been calling me Michi for a long time as well.
💜 Hmmm... Bread? I also like a really good salad. Soup is good too (idk I'm not too in to appetizers).
💜 I think we're going to see Spiderman: Far From Home.
💜 Vendredi, viernes, 금요일 (geum-yo-il).

My latest book haul(s). I was so happy to find most of these books at my library‘s used book store. Man and His Symbols was even free since it had been written in with pen! All of these books are recommendations (by title or author) by members of BTS except for The Secret History and Musicophilia. I‘m getting into some new genres and it‘s really fun! Currently I‘m reading Kitchen, such an interesting read. #bts #bookhaul #magicshop #jung
I‘m a bit torn about this one. I thought it was pretty good, one of the better Classics I‘ve read, but would I have liked it if I wasn‘t looking for connections and symbolism to BTS? Maybe, maybe not. Thank goodness I didn‘t have to read when I was in school though. #demian #bts #bloodsweatandtears #hetoowasatempter
I hate it when comments like this take me out of the story. Yes, tightlacing was popular during the time period of this story but it's not like it was the norm for everyone. If you've got a small chest you can make do with a camisole under your clothes and your back will be fine but trust me, not all of us have that luxury. I just don't like this notion that corsets = oppression. #agreatandterriblebeauty #libbabray #corset #fashion #victorian
Starting this one again since I noped out of the audiobook after like 5 minutes. Some people need to realize that character voices are not a necessary part of the experience. #marieantoinetteserialkiller #marieantoinette #katiealender #bookstagram #blue #audiobook #chapter1
This one was as good as the first one. I (secretly) read most of this at work so I wish I had been paying attention more so I would have something else to say. A cute, short read. The ending made me melt. I really hope Katherine Marsh is working on another one because I NEED to see my ship finally sail.
And with that I finished my reading challenge! #thesilverbowl #dianestanley #goodreads #bookstagram
So much build up for a confusingly jumbled ending. I originally thought this was going to be a retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and there are those elements, but it's closer to Snow White and Rose Red (two different stories about two different girls named Snow White...) I liked the world but not enough time was spent explaining the lore. The romance was rushed, I thought. The chemistry was barely building as the story ended.
I haven't read fantasy in a while. #thesilverbowl #fantasy #dianestanley #blue
I can't even. This is better than "Edgar Freakin' Degas". It's been way too long since I've posted. Just a busy summer, I guess. #anorthernlight #jenniferdonnelly #summer #degas #jayneeyre
I apologize for being MIA this month. Rehearsals for Dido and Aeneas have been INSANE! I play a witch and a lady of the night and I‘m having so much fun! The costuming and staging we‘re doing is so unique. Steampunk is awesome. When I took this picture I had already removed my zip off sleeves(!) but I can assure you they‘re so cool and flowy!! Also, my lips are like that for the whole show, not just for the prostitute scene. #didoandaeneas
Sanctum by Madeleine Roux. Trashy YA? Yes (in the sense that the writing isn't Pulitzer Prize level and the story might not be completely air tight). Fun, creepy read? Also yes. I'm a sucker for books with pictures. #guiltypleasure #trashyya #madeleineroux #sanctum #asylum #bookstagram #northerngothic
Somehow I‘m not thinking Bonnie & Clyde is a great way to start the week on a “high note”. But you do you, Pandora. #bonnieandclyde #broadway #pandora #frankwildhorn #music
This is another book that I didn‘t know what to expect once I started reading. I‘m really enjoying it! #thedisappearances #emilybainmurphy #williamshakeapeare #music #bookstagram #northerngothic
We had the luck, if you can call it that, Of having been in love but never lovers... - The Apple Orchard by Dana Gioia. Tonight I attended a recital of music by Lori Laitman. Each of the songs were poems that she set to music; the poets included Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasdale, Margaret Atwood, and the writer of this poem, Dana Gioia. I adore this line. #danagioia #artsong #poetry #theappleorchard #music #bookstagram
How did they miss that typo? #bookstagram #michaelamaccoll #emilydickinson #nobodyssecret #northerngothic
I am so happy to finally own this book! It‘s a used library book I got from AbeBooks. It is a shame that it‘s now out of circulation at that particular library but the book is in such great condition (the stickers were easy to peel off of the plastic library cover) and it was less than $4. Also this is one of my favorite books. #thecagedgraves #dianneksalerni #bookstagram #northerngothic #usedbooks #library #own #favorites #abebooks
I went to the library to return some books and lighten up my bedside table (for the time being) and I came home with five more... To be fair, two of them were holds... #iliterallyhavenochill #bookstagram #stripes #tbr #library
I have a book order coming in soon (thanks, mom) and I decided it was time to design my own bookplate. #ifeelsofancy #didntknowwhatabookplatewasuntillastnight #bookplate #bookstagram #greatsingersongreatsinging #jeromehines
Yesterday after the competition I found myself at Barnes and Noble for a few hours. Unfortunately I am a poor college student so I couldn't buy anything but it still felt nice to be around so many books (*・∀-)☆ #barnesandnoble #books #bookstagram
*whining* I want a harem of Armenian lovers! #gailcarriger #bio #soulless #alexiatarabotti #theparasolprotectorate
Currently using my entire Library haul to break in these two music books. I have a competition tomorrow and my accompanist has to use official copies of the music. #library #spinebreaker #music #sheetmusic #musicmajor
@Kallik93 And here's the full list. I‘ve already read both Ella Enchanted and The Goose Girl (and I positively adore both of them) but I might try them as audiobooks this time. Also, I hope I can get my hands on the graphic novels on this list. #freakyfriday #april2018 #recommendations
I can't wait to get started on these! I'm so happy my library has so many of them @Kallik93 #freakyfriday #april2018 #recommendations
I can‘t really think of a caption at the moment, I just liked this quote. #imjustbeinglazy #thehouseofdeadmaids #clarebdunkle #heathcliff #wutheringheights #emilybronte #bookstagram
I really wish my local library's website was more user friendly. It constantly logs you out and there's no way to search by genre. They have "booklists" that are sorted by genre but each only has around 20 books listed...
So far this is completely different than I expected but I like it. #gailcarriger #etiquetteandespionage #audiobook #bookstagram #dontjudgeabook
I‘m not sure what has me laughing harder, Mark Twain‘s clever writing or Nick Offerman's comedic timing. #marktwain #nickofferman #tomsawyer #theadventuresoftomsawyer #classic #audiobook #bookstagram
This book is exactly what I was looking for. 484 pages and it was a breeze. #favorite #theseshallowgraves #jenniferdonnelly #bookstagram #theend #northerngothic
