Drives home a certain message that left me feeling defeated . If you read this book don‘t get your hopes up even through all the ups there are a lot of downs I repeat don‘t get your hopes up . Good book but because of what I mentioned I had to rate it lower now I see why people said this book pissed them off . It had so much potential to leave readers feeling inspired but it did just the opposite.

An absolutely heartbreaking, heart wrenching true story I got so angry while reading this and I cried a lot . The negligence on behalf of the girls employers to do the things that they did . It was so callous and cruel . I went on a rollercoaster of emotions as the girls f fought for justice and as they fought to hang on to live to see that justice . Wow this book is something else .

ICantImReading This book has been on my shelf for awhile, I really need to pick it up soon! 3y
Carolhreads @ICantImReading please please please do if you read nothing else this year or once you finish your current read please give it a shot it is so good !!! 3y

It‘s hard to put into words just have amazing and profound this beautiful book is . There are passages in this book that creep up on you in a silent and beautiful way.I don‘t have the words I need to fully describe this book . So I just have to sit and savor the experience I‘ve had for myself .

Loved it , although it starts slow and there are parts that are jumbled up and confusing it is a really great book with a smooth pace . It‘s heart breaking and sad but also inspiring .

4 stars Definitely a Taylor Jenkins Reid novel she does historical fiction well . I was able to connect with all the character especially Nina I related to her feelings about her mother and the way she felt in a lot of situations. The story reminded me a lot of the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo with the story told in various viewpoints and the bouncing back and forth between past and present .

I loved this I felt like Anne was me when I was little, her love of reading and playing outside, the way everything is tragic or romantic . Hanging her hopes on everything and looking forward to things with such excitement she‘s almost sick . I was the same as a kid in every way !! My upbringing was very strict and religious . Anne‘s upbringing is what I wish mine could have been as far as being allowed to do more things as she did in the book.

WOW and I mean WOW so good 5 stars ⭐️ This book is a wild ride I can‘t believe how crazy it was at times my palms were sweating or my stomach churned or dropped or I was talking out loud to myself . It‘s a page turner that doesn‘t wait until a 100 or so pages to get started . I was confused then shocked then completely creeped out . This book has everything !!! Read it if it‘s on your shelf don‘t wait !!!

4 stars more of a slow burn than a page-turning thriller it kept my interest Beas point of view and the flashbacks were more interesting than janes a lot of people are comparing to jane eyre but I haven't read that yet so I am more comparing it to Rebecca without the creepy house keeper

GingerAntics This one is quite an adventure. 3y
Carolhreads @GingerAntics you are so right !! Not even a few chapters in and my eyes are popping out it‘s crazy already !!! 3y
GingerAntics @Carolhreads it just comes at you right out of the gate. I think it‘s what makes so many people enjoy this book. 3y
GingerAntics @Carolhreads I think Gaiman‘s own adventure of promoting this book when it first came out also almost adds to the intensity of the book. The story doesn‘t let up and then Gaiman‘s own story punches you in the gut. 3y

I'm going to have I start giving these books four stars from now on they are good but the sequence of events in each book is becoming predictable and there is an over the use of the same phrases that I feel is not needed in the storylines are great and I am enjoying reading about certain characters but the reasons for the 4 stars stated above remain the same.

It brought me right back to watching the movie because this book was written after the movie came out. It was pretty much word for word ,scene for scene with a few differences thrown in. It brings so many happy thoughts to my mind days when my family and I used to watch the movie and laugh and just have a good time together making memories. I miss those days of being a kid and this book just brings it all back .

I decided to read this one next because for the last couple of years I keep confusing the two titles I figure if I finally read the books it will help with the confusion the titles are so similar 😩😩😩😩

BarbaraJean I had the same problem! Then there was also this one that came out around the same time as the other two: 4y
Carolhreads @BarbaraJean lol what are they trying to do to us?!?!? 😂😂😂 what's with the number 7 anyway? lol 4y
rwmg Apparently the US publishers added the 1/2 to the UK title because they were worried about just such confusion 4y
Carolhreads @rwmg yeah it helps a bit I just can't believe they are so similar I think the 1/2 and then maybe a name change would have helped with that too both initials E.H and the first name Evelyn lol 4y
