I feel like this book will be worth it once I get into it but right now it is SLOW going. I had to turn off the percentage count at the bottom of my kindle because it was going up so slowly. #netgalley

There was some pretty annoying miscommunication in this contemporary romance but it doesn‘t even matter because I loved Logan and Alexis so much. These characters are so good together. The banter is funny and there is a ton of chemistry right from the start. Definitely a pick. Digital ARC through #netgalley.

It‘s been a while since I‘ve posted on Litsy but I have been reading a TON lately and want to start sharing again. This is by the author of “The Scent Keeper” and it is so good. Loosely connected stories about how one book affects people‘s lives in various ways. I read a #netgalley ARC but it is out today.

All of my Libby app holds are gone! I had 9 books on hold and now they are not there. Has that ever happened to anyone? I‘m taking this harder than I should😂

brittanybooks Ooh not cool, Libby! Not cool!!!! 3y
DrexEdit 😳😳😳😱 3y
Hooked_on_books In all likelihood, this is a glitch and they aren‘t actually gone. They should be attached to your library card, and thus safe. I suggest deleting and redownloading the app, and when you add your card back, they should be there. A caveat to this is that if you have any wishlists, they may get permanently deleted when you do this, so note them down first so you can rebuild them. 3y

Lissa00 @Hooked_on_books That didn‘t work, but it might be a glitch. Hopefully they‘ll be back tomorrow🤞 3y
Hooked_on_books I hope so. I‘ve had problems with the app before, and it was several hours before it was resolved, one time around 12 hours. I panicked the entire time. But it all came back, so hopefully yours does, too. 🤞🏼 3y

I‘m thinking about deleting my #netgalley account. I am so far behind and I feel like it is adding stress and obligation to my reading life. Anyone else quit the NetGalley game? And did you regret it?

rockpools I haven‘t but I understand why you might. I‘ve cut right back on challenges this year - we don‘t need stress in our reading lives (get enough of that everywhere else) - good luck, whatever you decide to do! 3y
EvieBee I did and I haven‘t regretted it. I have found that I have a little more respect for a finished copy whether I buy or borrow. Probably has more to do with no pressure to read. I hate deadlines. I should add that I do throw myself into goodreads giveaways when I really want a book and don‘t want to wait for publication. I‘ve won quite a few! (edited) 3y
Lissa00 @EvieBee This is what I was hoping to hear! I used to love having added pressure to read books that I may not otherwise read, but it‘s gotten overwhelming for sure. 3y

Lissa00 @rockpools Thanks! I agree…who needs a hobby that causes stress. 3y
Tera66 I've been considering this myself. Actually was debating on doing it tonight. 3y
Lissa00 @Tera66 I ended up deleting my account yesterday. It is freeing to be able to just read anything and not have a list…but I‘m sure I‘ll miss requesting arcs eventually🤪 3y
Tera66 @Lissa00 I deleted mine last night too.😁 It relieved so much stress about my reading for next month. I may miss browsing upcoming books, but glad I did it.😃 3y

4.5 stars. This centers around a logging community in the seventies as they desperately try to hold on to their way of life while grappling with environmental destruction, chemical poisoning and small town mindset. The characters in this book are complicated and the plot constantly contains an eerie sense of foreboding. As with any book, there are flaws but overall this was a satisfying reading experience.

SamAnne Good review! I grew up in a tiny Oregon logging community where big timber companies ravaged the forest and rivers and doused us in herbicide spraying. Turned me into a major treehugger and opponent of large scale corporate logging. Really, looking forward to this book. (edited) 3y
Lissa00 @SamAnne Wow! I think you will find much to identify with this book then. The author does a really good job of describing the setting. 3y

This year there is the companion book about the experience last time. I‘ve been meaning to reread this book so I will definitely be participating. It starts on September 15. I started this book over the weekend. It‘s so weird! Has anyone actually finished it? It seems a little daunting.

Oryx I'm listening on audio and love it. Almost finished it 😃. I found it incredible in the breadth of things it covers - big issues and small. But, I'm not sure how it would be in print. Audio is definitely the easier route for this one I think. 3y
Graywacke Yes, made it through! Takes some commitment, but i did enjoy it. It‘s a pretty cool thing she did here. Good luck 🙂 3y
Lissa00 @Oryx Audio is a good idea! I might try that. 3y

Lissa00 @Graywacke It‘s very interesting how she inserts these profound thoughts and ideas into what seems like a random stream of words. 3y
Megabooks Yes! I read the audiobook and gave it 5⭐️! 3y
Lissa00 @Megabooks Audiobook definitely seems like the way to go! 3y
Graywacke @Lissa00 i found two things interesting. One is how sometimes I think like that! And I feel like I know some people who seem to always think like that. (Although I‘m not in their head, of course). Also - it‘s interesting to me because it‘s not directly her forethought but it‘s still conscious. Curious to me what level of consciousness this narrative takes place. 3y

I undertook a project this past year to enter all of my books into a spreadsheet. My unread amount is WAY WAY too high so my new goal is to use a random number generator and then try to read that book no matter what. If I decide to dnf for good, then I‘m donating it. Here is my first random selection. This is in addition to my regular reading📚📖 so it may be a slow process. I am going to attempt to document it here as I go!
