Long time, no update. But finally finishing War and Peace couldn't go without comment!! #TolstoyTogether

Cheers to a happy new year, Littens! 🎉🎆

batsy Good job! I'm thinking of tackling it this year so thank you for bringing the Yiyun Li book to my attention 🙂 3y
everlocalwest @batsy Definitely worth checking out. It did take me longer than the 85 days but I still appreciated the guide and light commentary. 💙📚 3y

I finished and on time with #tolstoytogether! I learned I know very little about the Napoleonic Wars and should read up on them. I‘m proud I finished this and can now casually mention to people I‘ve actually read it, will I read it again?? Not anytime soon.

How are we doing #TolstoyTogether folks? I'm still in it!! Really enjoying the pace actually, but it is slowing my overall reading. Though I think that was meant to be the point for the group, to slow down and simply relish the reading of this great novel.

I just started another chunkster and it is already breaking my heart at 100 pages in. This is my first time reading Ozeki and just, wow.

So excited to start this journey! #tolstoytogether. I did read War and Peace a couple of years ago but still looking forward to a more careful reread.

TheNeverendingTBR I love this War And Peace cover! 😍 3y

It‘s time for the encore of #TolstoyTogether! I‘m going in, anyone else coming?

You can find the schedule and details here: https://apublicspace.org/news/detail/tolstoy-together-2021

Lcsmcat If I hadn‘t just read it at the beginning of 2021 I‘d be tempted. What a fun idea. 3y
Cathythoughts I was meant to read to it for this years chunkster challenge.. but I didn‘t make it past January 🙄… Thankyou for the link , I‘ll have a look. 👍🏻❤️ 3y
nanuska_153 So tempted! I reread it for the third time not long ago and have so many reading compromises already though 🙈 Might join a bit late 3y

batsy Ooh, if I I'd known I would have! I want to read it and that's a lovely edition. 3y
mklong @batsy You aren‘t too late! It‘s only a 12-15 page per day schedule and we just started yesterday. You could totally catch up. 3y
mklong @nanuska_153 I skipped it the last time they did it because I had read it so recently, but I regretted it when I saw how much fun everyone was having. I couldn‘t pass up this second chance to jump in! 3y
Lissa00 Yes, me! So glad to see other Litsy people participating too! 3y
nanuska_153 @mklong yeah, it sounds like great fun and it never hurts to reread War and Peace, if when I catch up with my NetGalleys and bookclubs I am not too far behind I'll definitely do a sprint to catch up and join! 3y
mklong @Lissa00 Awesome! I hope more Littens jump in while there is still time to hop aboard. 3y
batsy @mklong I'd love to but I don't have a copy yet. I'm such a nerd that I'll have to research which translation I want 😅 and then have to order it online from Book Depository, which unfortunately will take too long. I hope you enjoy the read 💜 3y

And with that deluge of reviews I'm caught up on reviewing books I read while we didn't have power/internet!

Tomorrow I'm starting a new journey. Any other Littens doing #TolstoyTogether?

SamAnne I read it last year prompted by the readalong! 3y
everlocalwest @SamAnne So cool! I missed it and I'm excited they are doing another one!! 3y
SamAnne @everlocalwest I loved War and Peace so much I didn‘t want it to end. I‘m planning to read Anna Karenina this winter. 3y

Lissa00 Yes! I am starting my read this afternoon and also reading the companion book. 3y
everlocalwest @Lissa00 Awesome! I'm so happy there are other Littens joining in. I did today's reading and feel a bit daunted by all of the untranslated French but got into a flow of flicking my eyes back and forth to the footnotes. 3y
everlocalwest @SamAnne I read Anna several years ago and absolutely loved it! I read it in the Volokhonsky and Pevear translation and was delighted by how readable it was. I had expected it to feel like 'work.' Hoping the same for W&P! 3y
Lissa00 @everlocalwest I have the same version but I think I‘m going to switch to the Briggs translation. I‘ve read that the French is translated in the text in that one and not in footnotes. 3y
mklong I‘m in too! I‘m reading the Oxford World‘s Classics edition because I always like their explanatory notes. I‘m planning to read the companion book along with it, but my copy hasn‘t arrived yet. 3y
everlocalwest @Lissa00 oohh, having the French translated within the text would be so nice!! 3y
everlocalwest @mklong Awesome!! I'm so excited to be reading with y'all! 3y

I missed out on this last year but they are doing another “Tolstoy together” in which a community of readers reads and discusses about 15 pgs of War and Peace a day. This year there is the companion book about the experience last time. I‘ve been meaning to reread this book so I will definitely be participating. It starts on September 15. More info is here: https://apublicspace.org/news/detail/tolstoy-together-2021. #tolstoytogether

mklong Thanks for posting! This sounds great!! 3y
SamAnne I started reading with the project last year. Absolutely loved War & Peace. One of my winter reads will be Anna Karenina. 3y

Has anyone heard of this and want to try it? A Public Space is hosting a read-along of War and Peace. Just 15 pages a day! Check it out if you‘re interested. #TolstoyTogether https://apublicspace.org/news/detail/tolstoy-together

Crazeedi I love how so many book sites, blogs and publishers are doing so many things in these uncertain times, its heartwarming 5y
SamAnne I‘m in! 5y
