This book 😍 I have been wanting to read it since it was published and I‘m so glad #ALSpine finally got me to. This is my favorite form of writing: one novel made up of short stories that connect. It worked so well. I was equally intrigued by all characters and wondering how the story would weave kept me from putting it down. Another #ALS book to probably make my top of the year. I‘m just going to stick to #ALS books to ensure great reads!

JamieArc I also loved how this story came full circle. We saw how Alice‘s story impacted people, and at the very end, when Alice saw the wings made of book pages, and THIS is what finally inspired her to think of a new story - so brilliant that it ended with Alice being inspired by her own book, unbeknownst to her! 10mo
yourfavouritemixtape So glad you liked it! I think it‘s my top book from last year. And I still think about some of the stories even now. 10mo
JamieArc @yourfavouritemixtape This one snuck into my heart. I have a feeling I‘ll be thinking about it for a long time. 10mo

I had two 5⭐️s for April, and they were both just phenomenally good. Their commonality? Gorgeous, gorgeous writing and heartfelt characterizations.

If I had to choose, I think Bauermeister‘s would win by a nose…but both made April an amazing month for reading. ♥️♥️

robinb @CBee We did, thanks for asking. It was an unusual one as we spent it moving our daughter from Salem, MA to Chattanooga. 😊 We‘re so happy to have her just 2 hours away (rather than 18). I hope your Christmas was a merry one, and I hope your 2024 is filled with much love and good health, sweet friend. 🤗🤗 11mo
CBee @robinb wow, that‘s a big move! I finally had a chance to visit Chattanooga over the summer and loved it. So nice she‘ll be closer ♥️ Happiest of new years, friend! 11mo

If you have ever discussed a book with someone or belonged to a book club, you know that the perception of a story can be different with each reader. And this book weaves that idea together beautifully, creating a story about connection, tragedy, grief and love. Think about the stories you have read over the years and how they have changed you. "No Two Persons" will help the reader recall those titles and the love we have for them.

From writer, to manuscript, to publisher, to agent, to audiobook, and then to reader, to reader, to reader. I absolutely loved it!

This is a collection of short stories all connected by one book. No two persons will ever read the same story even if it‘s the same book. 1 book, 1 author, 9 readers all lives touched differently but changed nonetheless.

I adored this book! It‘s a set of linked stories about an author and different people who read or otherwise interact with her book. It was so fun to meet these characters and to see how they‘d encounter the novel. Some of them interact with others in later stories, which I enjoyed. There‘s a lot of depth in these stories, and I think I might read it again in print someday. The book is narrated by a full cast, and all of them do a great job. ⬇️

MallenNC It‘s hard to decide which characters were my favorites but I especially liked the actor, the teenager, and the agent. 1y

This was a wonderful collection of intertwined short stories. The unifying element in the plot was one book, and then each story showed how a different person‘s life changed due to interacting with that book. Of course there was the author, the literary agent, the bookseller, the audiobook narrator, but then lots of other people as well. I loved the variety of stories we got dropped into and how characters from past vignettes reappeared. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I REALLY LOVED this book, especially with the multicast narration. It‘s a love letter to readers and to all those who have a hand in getting a book out into the wild or into another readers hands. Basically it was #WrittenForLittens 😁🌈🫶🏼 My favorite jam….Interconnected stories , some touched me more than others but overall I was CONSUMED. Highly recommend

squirrelbrain Oooh, stacking! 1y
LiteraryinPA I just finished this one too! Which stories did you like the most? For me maybe the diver, the bookseller, and the teenager reading Theo as an assignment. 1y
Cinfhen Yesss to all of those @LiteraryinLawrence I also liked the assistant editor and the audiobook narrator. And I love how each story is linked in some way. This book will definitely make my favorites of the year list!! @squirrelbrain it‘s REALLY GOOD especially on audio!!! (edited) 1y
MallenNC I just finished this one today. I loved it too. Still need to post a review but I‘m sure it will make my end of year favorites. 1y

Alice has always wanted to be a writer. Her talent is innate, but her stories remain safe and detached, until a devastating event breaks her heart open, and she creates a stunning debut novel.

Rather than a traditional novel No Two Persons is interconnected short stories about one book‘s author and readers. There is a lot to love here with some beautiful writing and characters you care about in a short amount of time. I also enjoyed the conversation at the end of the audio book between between the author and one of the performers.

Every time I read an Erica Bauermeister book I fall a little bit in love. She writes novels that are built on interconnected short stories. The common thread in this one is a book, and the title refers to the well known idea that no two persons read the same book. How absolutely perfect a subject for a book lover!

Her characters come alive for me, and her sentences make me pause and read/listen to them again. I just love this. 💜

I enjoyed the book, yet I didn‘t feel like I got to know each separate person; writer, a deep sea diver, a young homeless student, to name those that hit me most. Felt like I would‘ve liked a little bit more about them each connecting with this same book. Think would‘ve thought it would be nicer with fewer, yet longer stories.

Could almost be read as a series of short stories all circling around a single book. Each section from the perspective of the writer, the slush pile reader, an artist, a deep sea diver, a young homeless student, a book seller, retiree, and publisher, but together this is a remarkable story that showcases the profound impact a book can make on the writer and readers it orbits. Sigh... Gonna carry this one in my heart for quite a while.

This interestingly structured book starts with a woman writing her tragedy into a novel. This book in the book is then the thread that connects the rest of the story, as we see how it touches the lives of different people. It‘s a really lovely tribute to the written word, though I finished it a week ago and I already feel it isn‘t going to stick with me.

Soubhiville I‘m looking forward to this. I‘ve enjoyed all her other books that I‘ve read. I still have several weeks to wait for my library hold. It sounds good! 2y

I started this book not having a clue what to expect. I read the synopsis but still it didn't let me know what I was going to find between the covers of this book. This one touched me in a way only certain books can. It was phenomenally great. It was the best book I have read to date and that is saying a lot. I've read some very good books and honestly have to say this one hit the number one spot. It's truly that good.

I‘m not sure where to start with this review. This book affected me in profound ways that I haven‘t even begun to scratch the surface of. While physically this book is only a mere 300 pages, it felt much longer to me as I found myself slowing down to savor EACH sentence, its meaning and its beauty, before moving on to the next. I also found myself dreading reaching the final page…as I feel with all great books. For my full (long) review: 🔻

I love this book and I need it to be pubbed now (May 2023? May?!). Each chapter describes a different person‘s encounter with the same book - from original author to slush reader to student in class - and how no one reads the same book or gets the same experience out of one. I burst into tears at least twice, and I‘m not sure whether the first time was happiness or sorrow. Absolute catnip for readers. #ARC
