I finished by “E” book, “Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine.” Honeyman‘s book was little too drawn out for me. However, I didn‘t want to give up. Eleanor overcomes a horrific childhood. She had an abusive mother and absent father. These memories follow her into adulthood and consequently control her every move. Until one day she finally breaks. Eleanor excepts the past and looks to the future for possibilities. I enjoyed the ending! #LitsyAtoZ

Drifter | Christine Lennon

I finally got a chance to post my /d/ book, #LitsyAtoZ. The Drifter by Christian Lennon was a Christmas present from my MIL. 💙 📖—->A few college girls at UF have a tragic experience on campus, which ultimately leaves unanswered questions. All they can think about is “what-if.” In the end, was this crime...preventable? This novel is geared towards Floridians, high school or college students. @BookishMarginalia

My C book. I have been wanting to read A Child Called IT for quite some time, an I finally took the plunge. The topic and sickening descriptions really turned me away, but it also spoke volume on what David went through. I cannot believe this poor child had to live like that. I am so glad he told his story. People can be so different in public when compared to their normal home life.

AJones Especially with the usage of social media. It‘s sad to say, but child abuse is far to common and must be reported. As an educator, I know issues like this will be apparent in my line of work. I hope I will never witness or find a child in a similar circumstance, but it‘s my job to report such concerns to the proper officials. #LitsyAtoZ @BookishMarginalia (edited) 6y

Another excellent Who is...? Malala Yousafzai a young female activist from Mingora, Pakistan. At the age of ten, the Taliban started a war forbidden female rights. Many Pakistanis disagreed with the Taliban. However, they were too scared to speak out except for Malala and her family. On October 9th, 2012, an armed man stopped Malala‘s school bus and shot her. This deadly shot didn‘t stop Malala.

Lions of Little Rock | Kristin Levine
post image
Pickpick

This fictional novel written by Kristin Levine is set in Little Rock, Arkansas during the segregation of 1957. Levine takes her reader on what may have happened if you (were young and naive) during that time period. The main character is a thirteen-year-old Caucasian female named Marlee. She doesn‘t talk much until she makes friends with Liz, which is a new student at West Side Junior High. They soon become best friends.

AJones Liz helps Marlee open up and find herself. Some time goes by, an suddenly Liz doesn‘t return to school because her true identity was found out. Marlee doesn‘t know what to think...so many people are telling her races shouldn‘t mix. She won‘t except this answer and searches for her only real friend. This heartfelt story of true friendship would make an excellent edition to your classroom library. #Equality ⚖️ 6y

I‘ve been in a reading slump lately with school starting. It seems like my free time has been scarce, making it even harder for me to devote time to myself. A Litsy friend recommended this book and I finally had got a chance to read it. (Thank you) And I have to say it was a page turner. Levin‘s writing is definitely for a more advanced reader, who understands the difference between truth and make-believe.

I have been visiting the public library a lot recently and it got me thinking about my own classroom library. I knew I owned a book about a library, I just needed to find it. This entails, some searching on my part through big boxes. And lo and behold I found it, “Library Mouse” written and illustrated by Daniel Kirk. This adorable children‘s book is about a mouse named Sam. He lives in the children‘s section. (Now that‘s an awesome pad! 😍)

AJones He‘s quite educated with a 1000+ books in his home. After sometime, he makes a decision to create his very own book and shares with his fellow patrons. His single book turns into multiple books and they soon draw attention from children and the librarians. Eventually they want to meet this famous author. His ‘Meet the Author‘ event is an amazing idea! I need to do something similar on parent‘s night for my students. A must read! 🐭 💛 📚 6y

Mehso-so

Yay, I finally finished this novel. In the begin it was a little slow for me, mainly because I didn‘t like reading about the horrible Day massacre that occurred on January of 1985. The mother, Patty Day was a divorcee raising four children on her family‘s farm with little support from her ex-husband, Runner. Her son Ben the eldest was hanging out with a Satanic group that lead him in the wrong direction.

AJones This crowd had a powerful influence which encouraged him to make some bad choices. I know he made the final decision, but he lived a hard life with little support and low self esteem. This is no excuse but peer pressure can have a powerful hold over our youth. Now back to the story (sorry, I was rambling)...that frightful night destroyed their entire family. I gave it a so-so, since it was depressing and took me awhile to get back on track. (edited) 6y

“Rainbow Crow” is a Lenape legend retold by Nancy Van Laan and beautifully illustrated by Beatriz Vidal. The setting of this story is within a magnificent forest where all creatures big and small call home. It seemed almost perfect until a blizzard occurred, making it almost unbearable. After several cold days a remarkable Rainbow Crow arrives, and praises the Great Spirit with a song. His beautiful melody earns him the gift of Fire.

AJones This courages Crow brings his gift back to the forest to melt the snow. His self sacrifice (of melody and beauty) was not overlooked by the Great Spirit, who grants him freedom and tiny rainbows throughout his feathers. 🌈 🎶 Making him Black Crow. #GoodDeeds
