Found a First Edition copy of Death of a Salesman at a used bookstore today- super excited to read this classic!
Lazy Monday vibes- Earl Grey tea and The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. Great read so far!
Starting this one on this rainy Sunday! Perfect day to curl up with a book I‘ve heard so many good things about.
Revisiting this really short book today- only 40 pages, but I remember really liking it the first time I read it. Maurice Sendak illustrates his father‘s story about growing up in a Polish-Jewish shtetl and how he eventually made his way to America. The story is wonderful and the illustrations add a nice touch.
Picked up a copy of this today for the cover alone- so beautiful! Has anyone read it already? Excited to add it to my TBR pile that is getting increasingly large in number...
Picked this up in San Francisco a few years back and just started reading it. Strong queer feminist characters, gritty in its imagery and set in the Mission District of San Francisco. Loving it so far!
One of the perks of dating someone with a kid: getting to revisit all of your childhood favorites. Maurice Sendak is one of my all-time favorite illustrators, from Where the Wild Things Are to Hector Protector. This is such a classic and I‘m glad I got to read it again after so many years!
Picked this up at Goodwill last week and it looks great! Reading a couple other books right now, but it might be my next pick. Anyone else read this book? Thumbs up or down?
When I was in high school, an English teacher of mine suggested I read the short story “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver. Upon finishing it, I immediately went out and bought the whole collection and devoured it. His stories are dark and tense and unsettling and I loved every second of this book.
I have had this book on my shelves for a long time but never ventured to read it- so many books, so little time. But wow! I was missing out. This classic definitely lives up to it‘s reputation as being one of the most important pieces of commercial theater. Poetically written, funny at times and absolutely heart-breaking. So good!
San Sepolcro has been a long-time favorite poem of mine- “there‘s milk on the air, ice on the oily lemonskins. How clean the mind is, holy grave.” I decided to read through Jorie Graham‘s collection and what a treat! It has enough substance to read like a novel and her way of understanding human perceptions is unmatched. Love this poetry collection!
I‘m such a huge fan of Joan Didion‘s writing, she can do no wrong in my eyes. This is such a wonderful book for anyone that romanticizes going on a road trip set in the flat, beautiful land that is the South. She makes acute observations throughout her various notebook entries and it‘s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish it‘s last page. Great book!
So far so good! I‘ve had this lying around from when I was 11 or 12 and had never gotten around to reading it. Picked it up the other day looking for a light read and I‘m thoroughly enjoying it- has a Harry Potter feel to it, lots of wizards and magic. Fun read, would recommend!
I was a big fan of this book! The land of Zamonia that author Walter Moers created is whimsical and quirky and the illustrations that accompany the story are fantastic. It‘s 703 pages but it flies by and ended up being a fairly quick read. If you want an adult fairytale, this book is for you. Highly recommend!
5 stars and two thumbs up! High up on my list of all-time favorites. The character development is incredibly sensitive and captivating and you end up liking every single character for different reasons. It‘s mainly set in Oaxaca, Mexico and John Irving does such a beautiful job of setting the scene. Loved it from start to finish and highly recommend to anyone!
