Happy December 1st! I‘m ready for a month full of festive reading! 🎄
so-soOkay, the positives were the rural autumn Scottish setting and the LGBTQ+ representation…very awesome! The negatives are that I really didn‘t get invested in the characters and the spice was not very spicy. It just seemed like a lot of potential was missed. So, I didn‘t love it, but I didn‘t hate it either.

pickThis was really cute and the descriptions of all the grilled cheese sandwiches definitely gave me a craving! And I didn‘t see the twist coming at all. There were lots of characters to keep up with and I struggled with that a bit, but this was enjoyable.

panThis could have been so much better than it was! The grown ass female MC cried all the time and that got old. And for a story about organizing and throwing a family Thanksgiving dinner, the opportunity for tension and/or hilarity was not utilized at all. I was just bored and found myself zoning in and out while listening, and yet, I don‘t feel like I missed anything.

so-soI was so stoked to read this one because it‘s set in the late 90s (and I do miss the 90s) and because it was hyped as having a Stars Hollow feel. On those two counts, this book delivered! But I felt like it was maybe too long and there were some pacing issues. The audio had a bonus chapter that wasn‘t necessary at all. I‘m left with mixed feelings about this one. 🤷🏻♀️

Just watched the new Frankenstein movie on Netflix. I‘m a huge fan of the book and this adaptation skewed pretty far from the source material. I wish it had been truer to the book! But it‘s beautifully shot, and Jacob Elordi was brilliant as the Creature.

so-soLily, a wizard, is drawn into her witch friend Sebastian‘s plan to undo an ancient curse on an old estate, one that causes anyone who lives there misfortune and eventual death. That storyline ended with an epilogue, then a whole new story started, one in which a small town was caught in a time loop, and Lily and Sebastian have to save the town. It was just a disconnect to me and took away enjoyment from the main story.
