Figured I'd give this one a try. Borrowed it from Hoopla, which is an app that our library uses to lend digital media (ebooks, audiobooks, and movies also).

Since my wife is Latina, I have been trying to learn Spanish for the past 8 years to no avail. I'm finally starting to feel like there's room in my brain for it now though, so we'll see how it goes. I already have a really good headstart, so 🤞🏾

Mehso-so

"YouTube Channel" is a very short book that explains the beginnings of becoming a YouTuber. I found one thing in it that made me consider something about my own channels. Because of that, I give it a so-so. I went into it expecting absolutely nothing, so there's that. And yes, that is a hilarious typo in the title.

What can I say? It's a King novel. There a few parts in there that I felt didn't need to be there, but I think we can all agree that King usually does that; it doesn't stop us from getting the next one, does it? Lol. This book is great. The ending, I felt, was phenomenal. I had a different thought going through my head, so I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. Definitely a 6 out of 5.

I just wanted to say that RC Bray is a great narrator, and he really brings that extra umph to this story. I have a feeling if I was reading this story, I wouldn't like it as much. Only because my brain would be so stuck on the chaos that I would miss out on the subtle emotions of the characters at certain times.

Bookzombie I haven‘t listened to this one, but have enjoyed Bray as a narrator on others. 5y

Ooooooooh, maaaan! This book is phenomenal!! I love a good character-driven story. I have to work at 4:30 in the morning, but I stayed up til 11 to finish this book anyway. That's how good it is. Crouch has a way of making these (presumably) out of reach scientific achievements seem very real. It is TRIPPY. And man, did I hate Jason! I didn't like very many people in this story, but I couldn't help rooting for him. Pick!! 👍🏾

It | Stephen King

I thought about something today. If Stephen King never wrote IT, would clowns be creepy or scary to anyone?

It's amazing how influential an author can be when they use their words the right (or maybe wrong) way.

vivastory I think they would still be a little creepy, but I know my generation owes a massive debt to the Tim Curry portrayal for our Coulrophobia 🎈🎈🎈 5y
KennethTolesJr @vivastory I'm right there with you. Lol. That first IT movie put the fear in me. And it's hard for me to explain because I don't really call it fear usually. I usually just say they're creepy. They don't scare to where I go into fight or flight mode. Just weird. Lol 5y
Sweetkokoro I believe the fear would still be there. My older sister has a fear of clowns that started when she was around 5 so her fear was never connected to IT. Now that she is older she explains it as “anyone can be under that face paint, a normal person or a killer and thats just scary” She says its fear plus creepy all rolled into one. 5y
See All 9 Comments
KennethTolesJr @Sweetkokoro I understand that totally. That's a very valid point. Most people that I talk about that have a fear of clowns usually credit at least part of it to King. Interesting to hear about someone who doesn't relate the fear to IT at all. 5y
SW-T Never liked clowns. IT just confirmed other people found them creepy. 5y
Ericalambbrown Yes!! I‘ve been afraid of clowns since a local furniture commercial with a clown scared the peewodden out of me when I was three. That was 1976. 😂 🤡 5y
KennethTolesJr @Ericalambbrown Lol that's funny but also not cool. Maybe I was speaking from experience because IT was definitely my introduction to creepy clowns. It wasn't for Pennywise, I wouldn't be creeped out by Ronald lol!! 5y
kaysworld1 I used to work in McDonald's and the clown used to visit every couple of months it's was the weirdest stuff I've ever seen, nobody likes the clown but he is the face of a company! Half of the staff used to disappear in the back. 5y
KennethTolesJr @kaysworld1 Oh dang! I never thought Ronald was creepy until after I saw Pennywise. He changed my entire perception of clowns. Maybe in person Ronald would've been terrifying. Never thought about it like that. 5y

Of Mice and Men Deluxe | John Steinbeck

In case anyone is wondering why the book is called Of Mice and Men for some reason, here's why:

"The title is taken from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse", which reads: "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley". (The best laid schemes of mice and men / Often go awry.)"
(Wiki 19)

So... Ladies and Gents, I have a question.

I've started three books, but because of school, I stopped all three. I want to focus on one at a time and finish them now that I'm done with school. Can you help with the order, please?

Thinner by Stephen King
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Fear the Sky by Stephen Moss (audiobook narrated by RC Bray)

The poll ends at 2:17pm Central time.

Thanks!!!

vivastory 1) Slaughter-House 5 2) Thinner 3) Fear the Sky 5y
sprainedbrain I would go by page length. Shortest to longest... that‘s how I get things done. 😂 5y
TheBookAddict 1- Fear the Sky 2- Thinner 3- Slaughter- House 5 5y
KennethTolesJr @vivastory @sprainedbrain @TheBookAddict So, I took what all three of you said into consideration, and it actually comes out to being Fear the Sky, Thinner, then Slaughterhouse-Five. This is because Fear The Sky has the least amount of pages left to be read, which means it has two votes for first. Then, Thinner got two votes for second. Thanks Peeps!! 5y

This is the first book I'm officially bailing on.

My mom and grandmothers used to tell me, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Well, I want to preface this by saying: Sorry Ma and G-ma.

I got to chapter nine, and I'm over it. I understand it's a novel, and it will have slow parts. But, this book has 9 chapters straight of slow parts. The little action it had was boring. I can't...

I LOVED this book! I knew what was coming because of the show, BUT, there are small details that I'm sure will have large rolls later in the series. I will say that it is slow in the beginning, but it's not boring. It's just a lot of dialogue in the beginning. But it ALL leads somewhere!
