I really enjoyed this, I've never had much faith in spin-offs until now; I want to read every Alien book I can get my hands on after this.
It's well written, tense, very fast-paced and full of action.
Highly recommend to all Alien fans.

🎧 Who can can you turn to when you find a cave of xenomorphs while mining for trimonite?
Answer: Ellen Ripley 💕
I can only tell you that I‘ve enjoyed a couple of the movies in this franchise. That was until this trilogy!
Even read in reverse I LOVED IT‘ I‘m curious to try some more Alien books! Great additions to the movies!! I bought this on Audible for under $5! Well worth it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Bk6 of June & Bk3 of #LittenListen is done! I actually read the 3rd book first so now I‘m backtracking & finished the 1st book in this Alien canon. Another full cast recording, it was brilliantly done with Rutger Hauer playing Ash, the rogue Cyborg/AI from the first movie. It‘s a side story where Ripleys lifeboat is picked up by a mining ship who are having their own issues after stumbling on a nest in a mine. #SeriesRead2021 #StackingTheSeries👇
Finished two books today! My points for the first week is 752!

I'm hoping to get all of these done for the audiothon!! I'm really excited for alien!

“If they‘re anything like the one we had on Nostromo they‘ll be eight, nine feet tall, incredibly fast and strong, and utterly vicious. And you want to trap them? How? You got a box we can bait with some cheese?” 🧀
(Rilpey) 😂🤣😂🤣
Out of the Shadows has plenty of action (and character development) with Ripley and was an enjoyable book...but perhaps a book that's not really needed in this series???🤔...I have to keep reading and see if this book links in well with the others or not.
Read by a full cast, this audiobook definitely felt like watching a sci-fi horror movie! #TeamSlaughter #scarathalon @Clwojick
I made it out for a 20 minute, 1 mile walk with my mom and dog today, 24 hours after getting out of surgery. Yay! 😎 I also finished my first book of the challenge, Alien: Out of the Shadows, an Audible original full-cast drama. 👍 Now I'm back to lying in bed with an ice pack on my face, trying to drink little bits of water occasionally. #bookfitnesschallenge #bfc @wanderinglynn
The meds and ice packs are working just well enough for me to listen to this engrossing, full-cast audio drama. I know nothing about the Alien franchise, I've just had this free book sitting in my Audible library for a while with no plans to read it until today. So thankful for something that can occupy my mind while I hold an ice pack on my face. 👍 This might end up being my first book read for the #bookfitnesschallenge! @wanderinglynn
“It‘s only pain, when it happens it will hurt but it doesn‘t matter, brief moment of horror and pain and then nothing forever, so it doesn‘t really matter.”
I‘ve not really been into the alien series, but trying to find different things to read, in my zone and out. I do appreciate a full cast narration, and the story isn‘t too long (if I don‘t really enjoy it) and is the first of a trilogy (if I do).
Started this right now, and I'm already hooked completely. Had to ask the wife, what do you call this? #AudioEating ???
I‘m usually not a fan of audio dramatizations, I find them tiresome to listen to, but this one was actually quite good! A rather pleasant surprise among the otherwise uninteresting Audible freebies.
This was a really fun audible short (4 hours approximately). I enjoyed that the actors were energetic and immersive. The voice actress for Ripley was spot on too. Worth a listen for sure!
I'm only 3 chapters into this book and I'm not a huge fan of the franchise (I do enjoy the first 2 films), I'm willing to give this a shot after reading the novelizations for Alien & Aliens. I'm hoping to get to Alien vs Predator at some point.
“Chris Hooper dreamed of Monsters.
As a youngster they‘d fascinated him as they did all children. But unlike children born generations before him, there were places he could go,destinations he could explore, where he might just find them “ Tim Lebbon.
This was fantastic! Enjoyed the multiple narrators, sound effects and music. Felt like I was listening to a movie. And, the best part is that I finished it with only 10 minutes left in our drive back home. I timed it well for today's trip!
Drove to my parents' house today for our last Christmas gathering of 2017. My rule in my car is that if I'm driving I control the stereo. My choice for this trip is Audible's original recording of the tagged book. It is just long enough for the drive there and back. I didn't count on the 30 minutes I had to pause it while the hubby chatted on his phone. It really made the trip there go by fast!
Fun story despite the restrictions imposed by having to stay in continuity between the first two films. Spoilery reveal of how the author managed that below.
The Alien comics have been so good lately that I've been craving more of this universe, so I'm giving the novels a try.
In the first #Head2Head challenge in the #ArmchairAudies #AudioDrama category, 'Alien: Out of the Shadows, An Audible Original Drama' easily outclasses 'In the Embers' in terms of script, sound effects and overall production values. Kudos to Robin Miles though, who is amazing as a voice actor and singer in 'In the Embers'. 🎧
And I've decided to judge a third category for the #ArmchairAudies! I've already listened to 'Alien: Out of the Shadows, An Audible Original Drama' and 'In the Embers', so just three more contenders to vet in the #AudioDrama category! 🎧
🎧 Full review of 'Alien: Out of the Shadows: An Audible Original Drama' (based on the novel by Tim Lebbon; adapted and directed by Dirk Maggs; performed by a Full Cast) at my blog, dogearedcopy.wordpress.com:

After listening to the audio drama adaptation of Tim Lebbon's book, I decided that I wanted to read the full novel too! Since I was already there in the SFF section, picked up the other two books as well... And all I can think about is the new Kim Stanley Robinson novel I *didn't* get, 'New York 2140!' #TBR
Listened to the audio drama based on the novel for #ArmchairAudies #OriginalWork category: Laurel Lefkow voices Ripley so well I thought Audible had spliced in film dialogue! Rutger Hauer (❤) voiced the modified Ash character very nicely too. Story had a continuity error; and was obsessed with decompression chambers and warning everyone that "acid burns" *a lot*; but it's a pretty good story nonetheless if not adding anything to the cannon ?⭐⭐⭐
It's been close to 40 years since Alien was released in the movie theaters, and just slightly less since I had last seen it! I decided to dnload & watch it before I listened to the interstitial short audio produced by Audible (tagged)... Wow! The movie has held up remarkably well over time: the tension, the sets, costuming, lights, props, continuity... and of course, the acting! (Detail: Image from the movie poster)
Currently listening ?
20 minutes in and I'm already like "they are fuuuuucked." #horror #audieawards
It's nice to get back to scifi/fantasy.
The #Aliens are yet again ruining everyone's day. Carnage, death, slime, hissing, death...
I'm in #Xenomorph heaven.
