Lower left is my father-in-law who served as a Major (my husband in his lap) in US Army during WWII. He lived 1916-1996. Top 2 are my brother who served in USAF in East Germany during the Cold War. He lived 1945-2018

At the time this memoir was published in 2014, Sqn Ldr George “Johnny” Johnson MBE DFM, was one of the last three last surviving Dambusters. Sqn Ldr Les Munro CNZM DSO QSO DFC JP of the RNZAF passed away in 2015, and Sgt Frederick Sutherland of the RCAF passed away in 2019. So Johnny is now just the last surviving British Dambuster, but the last surviving Dambuster. He‘s 101 on 25th November.

#NovemberNarrative #veteransday I don‘t even know the backstory of this photo.What I do know is sometime when my dad was at basic training or another camp here in the U.S., my aunt , his little sis came for a visit.He eventually served in Korea. My heartfelt appreciation to all who served .

Thank you to all Veterans past and present for your sacrifice for our country and especially my Veteran William Anderson!! He has been deployed 3 times! I love you so very much!! ❤️🤍💙 🇺🇸

My Dad enlisted in November of 1942. He was 20 years old. He never really talked about his service except for the USO shows, and the bottle of real Coke they all somehow got at Christmas in Germany. If we asked if he was somewhere, he'd say yes, but it was night, all the lights were out, and he was in the back of a truck. I have a copy of the book about their service. #NovemberNarrative #VeteransDay @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
