Creepy and wonderfully written/researched. She did the real work. Also shout out to all the #murderinos. Also, I can‘t find my copy rn so here‘s a picture of a doll. Deal with it
Murakami has a new novel publishing in October! I figured I‘d read this since I have so many of his that I‘ve not done yet. It‘s great so far ~100 pages in.
I just finished this and I‘m a bit speechless. I don‘t care for football so don‘t let its inclusion in this novel dissuade you from trying it. Indoor football league takes on the nfl/an art heist drive the plot, but there is so much more. If you like heady books you will absolutely dig this. Sergio de la pava is a wizard. 🧙♂️
Extremely touching novel. God, I couldn‘t set it down. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
I loved this book. Beautifully written. Super glad he stopped by Lemuria today!
If you like urban fantasy, you‘ll dig this! I‘ll be reading the other books in this series post haste.
If you like cartel and mafia stuff this book is the biz. Wow. The story is so tight. The writing is beautifully crafted. Page turner. Read it in two days. Not a criticism for this one. Cheers and read!
Really love this book. So funny. So smart. So Nola.
Celine was a piece of shit apparently, but he could write. This was a beautiful story. One I‘ll reread. And just to be clear, I don‘t agree with most of the ideology of his characters in this book.
Took Francisco Cantú to blues Monday at Hal and Mal‘s after his signing tonight! It was super!
Digging these short stories! I loved her last novel Fates and Furies. On sale date is 6/5/18
Great event tonight w/ Robert Gordon. Eclectic musical taste and great writing. Fat Possum records put out a vinyl with selections from the book. Super fun!
Cathead Distillery here in Jackson, MS made a special cocktail for this fantastic book! They are traveling with Johnny Miles for his book tour; catch him in a town near you or make this cocktail and let the book and drink transport you to Mississippi.
Michael Farris Smith is a rad dude (that‘s him looking at me while taking this awkward photo). I loved his latest novel. Dirty southern grit. Beat down characters with the hope of redemption. I read it in a sitting. Go out get this today!
Mary Gaitskill's brain is hot af. Go read her short story 'secretary' from her book 'bad behavior' then watch the film adaptation then read her review of the movie in this collection of essays. She's so smart.
lydia peelle w/ edison cylinder last night. super awesome reading. plus her hubby ketch secor from the old crow medicine show played some old tunes on a guitjo
Pretty cool.
Not a recipe from this book, though inspired by it. Collard greens and turnips.
Listening to this again while I'm feeling bad today. Looking at some of my books while I'm listening. Love a song of ice and fire. Love Tyrion so much.
Richard grant author of Dispatches from Pluto (we have sold a metric shit ton of his book) conducting a hybrid interview with Geoff dyer for his new book. Great reading. Lovely people
Love this collection of short stories. Found this advanced reader copy today!

dtrump ain't gonna usher fascism into this here united states like some reviews of this book seem to be suggestin' ...but he is a capitalist asshole
Unfortunately, this is my favorite book, like, ever.
This book is so fascinating. I love her writing. It's exacting. I never know where these essays are leading me, I'm surprised every time, but never let down.
A most disappointing book.
A most disappointing book.
Passage à l'acte. I feel that my life is in constant punctuation by these phenomena.
this book is sooper cool so far... listen to this to get you in the mood via-à-vis Leo Johnson style.
I wasn't a big fan of white noise, but this book was great. It was so easy to read and yet it was full and meaty. These are the best kind of books. Easy reading with deep meanings. I'll be thinking on it for a long time. I'll definitely reread it.
'Gabrielle, i met the plague of you, l'appel du vide of your trashed exes
I felt like Antonin Artaud because i refused to cry
I saw our withering and thought "how romantic"
I saw our withering and thought "i'm glad"
Did you really try to love me? that doesn't sound like you
No not you' -Kevin Barnes Of Montreal
On them pickled beets
Any of y'all read this?
4th essay 'Internet Porn'. I think I'm finding a pattern.
This guy, David Crews, met William Faulkner when he was 7. Faulkner caught him stealing apples from one of his trees. Lol.
Duh. Listening for the third go round. I'm still surprised at how radically flux I feel about the characters throughout the series.
I've read this book twice now. An incredibly honest book. Sharp. Piercing look at 21 century lives. Dickens meets David Foster Wallace. Heart warming. Totally Rad.
Plus Nathan Hill was a super nice guy when he came down here to Jackson, MS.
Got this in yesterday! I was wearing an appropriate shirt to receive such a blessing.
This is one of the best books I've read in years. Superb.
