Brief Summary: Chris Paul always thought he was too small to play basketball. He didn't let that stop him. He trained and worked hard to become stronger and faster. He worked to be able to be a great player. He believed in himself. Chris Paul made the basketball team and continued his career into being in the NBA.
Side Note: Good for Summarizing.
Going into the book expecting to learn about the game of basketball and getting a book focusing on perserverance, relationships, and personal/spiritual growth is not what i was expecting. Phenomenal read
I found this fascinating. The focus is really on coaching, spiritual growth and team-building rather than basketball per se. Really enlightening
Fun read directed at niche audience obviously. I work in professional sports. Fascinated at how amateurish & seat-of-their-pants this league was even with mega talent players & coaches. Sports is just too engorged with money to ever be this raw & spontaneous again, unfortunately.
You don't have to be a basketball fan to appreciate how great of a read this book is. The story alone is compelling & Feinstein is a master of layering the narrative in this genre of books. One of my all-time favorites. In my literary HOF. Again like with Season on the Brink, I don't think one need be a basketball fan to enjoy.
I will have to say, when it comes to athlete‘s, you assume talent is something written in dna. However , this piece on Jordan‘s life is cool because it shows how hard he really had to work.
