Librarybelle 45 for me, and I‘m shocked by that! I like so many on the list including Sleepless in Seattle, Barbie, and Mamma Mia (because it‘s just fun to sing along to ABBA). 7mo

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I got 73, too! I've never actually watched When Harry Met Sally or The Lion King. 😱 Shocking, I know. There are a few that I may have seen but don't remember. Lots of favorites here: Armageddon, A League of Their Own, Shrek movies, Finding Nemo, and some good Marvel & HP movies. Thanks for the 1001 List. Though my numbers were low, it was neat to see what was listed. Perhaps I'll add a few more to my TBR. I think hitting 10% would be great! 6mo

Among other things, on a personal level 2024 will go down as the year I read War and Peace. I did it chapter a day (kind of/theoretically) with the Footnotes and Tangents Substack. I can't say I really loved it, or think it's one of the greatest novels ever, but I'm glad to have read it and found the online discussion and commentary enriching.

Morr_Books @Clare-Dragonfly I agree! This chapter is hilarious! I was laughing right at the beginning when it was mentioned how much they disliked the doctor's name, Hoggins, but that Piggins would have been worse. 🤣 3y

Ruthiella The chapter really does underscore the absurdity of class hierarchies! 😂 Certainly Mrs. Jamison enjoys being a big fish in a very small pond. And of course they ate up all the food not because they were hungry but because they were “too genteel” to point out how low class the spread was by abstaining. (edited) 3y

Clare-Dragonfly I feel like the narrator is telling us all this in a sly whisper out of the corner of her mouth. And she occasionally bursts into giggles because she just can‘t help herself. That‘s why there are so many funerals—so she isn‘t constantly laughing. 3y

TheAromaofBooks I was also confused about the sedan chair being in the house! I always assumed they picked people up outside like a cab?? But apparently not! 😂 3y
