Cuilin That ending was a bit underwhelming. I would also give it a soft pick as a novel, but the amateur historian in me #FullSend I‘m definitely gonna check out the TV series. 2w

mcctrish I am happy to be out of this #underwhelmedonallcounts what happened to Laura? Not even flora cares 2w
Ruthiella I really liked this book a lot! I didn‘t mind that it was slow and plotless. 😆😍 2w
Bookwormjillk I think this would probably be a better TV show. Was afraid to watch before I finished so I wouldn‘t spoil the ending…but there was no ending? Anyway I would read the phone book with you all so I still enjoyed it for all my complaining. 2w
rubyslippersreads @Bookwormjillk @cuilin The TV show is great. I‘m still working on the book. Like @Ruthiella I don‘t mind the lack of plot, but I‘m marveling at how they made a series out of this. (edited) 2w
Bookwormjillk Also Miss Lane gives Misery vibes and I would have liked to hear more about that. #ImYourBiggestFan 2w
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk omg she 💯 does! 🤣🤣🤣 2w
willaful Also a soft pick for me.

I was just reading some of Flora's history... not only did her favorite brother die in WWI but her son died in WWII. 😭 It was a hard time to be alive.
2w
Deblovestoread Glad to have read it chp a day. I don't think i would have finished otherwise. I would have liked an epilog with how the rest of Laura's life went. I loved the show and am looking forward to a re-watch starting tonight. 2w
KAO I really did enjoy this—though I would not likely have made it through without the daily accountability and all of your comments! Thank you! I just started watching episode 1 of season 1 of the 2008 series from PBS—and I can completely understand your frustration if you had seen the series before reading the book! So much drama in episode 1 already! Whoever wrote the script had modern audiences in mind, I‘m sure. 2w
TheAromaofBooks I did like this but I do wish some of it had been a bit more focused on Laura, as those were my favorite parts. But it was all very interesting - although I'm not sure I would have finished if it wasn't for this group!!! 2w
dabbe We got the most detailed explanations for pretty much every single thing in Lark Rise and Candleford--plus extreme details for every little thing Laura did, every flower she saw, every game she played, ... yet we don't know why she just up and leaves? #wth? The ending made me go 🤯!!! 2w
Bklover I actually enjoyed this somewhat, and I‘m glad we read it. Particularly enjoyed reading it with the #hashtagbrigade ! However I will admit that the idea of watching the show now is painful! 😂 2w

Librarybelle Yay!! 11mo
TheBookHippie I‘m so proud of everyone!! We would not have made it through this mess with out you!!! OYTOTHEVEY 😵‍💫 11mo
TheBookHippie Also I still feel cheated. 😅 11mo
Ruthiella Yay! Thank you for being our fearless leader here! It was an ordeal! 😅 11mo
dabbe I feel like the hero in a hero's quest journey who just descended into darkness, survived the ordeal, and came out on the other side to a brighter day--though with more white hair on my head. 🥳

dabbe Huzzahs to @BarkingMadRead for her beyond witty hashtags and @Aimeesue, our #dioramadiva. 🤩🤩🤩 Without you, we wouldn't have survived. 🥳🎉🥳 11mo
BarkingMadRead @dabbe great LOTR reference 🤣 and yes!! @Aimeesue the dioramas were 🔥🔥🔥 11mo
currentlyreadinginCO Thank you so much for hosting!! I feel like this book deserves that nonsense ending 😅😅, but I am glad that I read it!! 11mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I'm glad we made it through. But I also felt like, for such a long book, the ending was a bit abrupt! 😂 11mo

BarkingMadRead I‘ve said this on a few posts by you Pemberlittens, I gave this a pick, but it‘s a soft pick. This could have been so much shorter and still conveyed everything George wanted to convey 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y

TheBookHippie @BarkingMadRead I agree, was it to make a point? We get it people are insufferable🤣😅😵‍💫👑😅🤷🏻‍♀️🙄😬 #WEDIDIT #WHERESOURTROPHY 2y
IndoorDame @TheBookHippie @BarkingMadRead Yes!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆for everyone! We earned them! 2y
ravenlee I think this was an ultramarathon, or one of those endurance trail run things! 2y
BarkingMadRead @ravenlee in the ultra world there is a challenge called the Barkley Marathons. This was a Barkley for sure. 2y
Bookwormjillk Congrats all, and thanks @barkingmadread . I liked the beginning of this book so much better than the end. I think soft pick is a fair rating. 2y
TheBookHippie @BarkingMadRead I agree this was a Barkley 2y
ravenlee Wow, I‘ve never heard of the Barkley Marathons - which is funny, as I married a Barkley (no relation, I think) and my in-laws live in Tennessee. My SIL and her husband frequent Frozen Head on their hiking expeditions. Weird! 2y
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead the Barkley is wild! 2y
CoffeeNBooks Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about this book at this point. Parts of it were interesting, parts of it weren't. I have a lot of love for many of the classics, but this one not so much. @BarkingMadRead - I agree that Eliot could have made her point with a shorter book. 🤔 2y
TheAromaofBooks I would never have made it through without your hashtags @BarkingMadRead !!! I can see why this has never been as popular as Austen's novels. None of these characters were particularly likable or relatable - definitely don't see myself daydreaming about any of the men I met in these pages! 😂 2y
BarkingMadRead @TheAromaofBooks not a Darcy to be found 🙄 I wouldn‘t want any of these dudes 🤣 2y
TheAromaofBooks @BarkingMadRead - Literally none! And honestly I didn't think any of the women were particularly prizes either! 😆 2y
Clare-Dragonfly I guess nobody loves Fred and Mary like I do? 😅 I definitely wouldn‘t say I love this book—Rosamond and Lydgate give me too much anxiety—but Fred and Mary!!! 2y
kwmg40 Thanks for hosting, @BarkingMadRead! I loved the novel, as well as the commentary from everyone here. 2y
JamieArc Congrats to you all! 🎉🎉. I got quite behind when I didn‘t want to take this chunkster on vacation, but I will carry on and look forward to each chapter‘s post as a reward! 2y
BarkingMadRead @kwmg40 hooray!!!!! @JamieArc I wouldn‘t want to lug that thing anywhere either! 2y
Bklover Ahhhh, this was fun! And long. Really enjoyed reading this with all of you. And @BarkingMadRead ❤️❤️❤️❤️🏆 2y
TheBookHippie @Bklover So loooong.. 2y
TheBookHippie @JamieArc the posts are the best part 😅🤫🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y
